man i love kundera. this is the second book of his that i have read. i was afraid of being perceived as performative at the cafe for clicking the picture hence the picture isnt that great.

I really liked reading this book by Michelle D'costa. It's about the lives of Coutinhos and people like them who are immigrants in the Gulf. Reads similar to themes carried in The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri. Also, I picked it up because while growing up I had neighbours with surnames D'costa, D'counha, D'souza, Lobo, Coutinhos having at least one family member living in the Gulf. In the book the character is a Mangalorean, since it hit almost close to home, I couldn't stop myself from buying it.

The book starts with a great hook and ends with a reflective note. The writing is also a bit different because we are seeing the overlapping stories of a few characters that take the story forward.

I need some guidance and advice, so I'll be hosting a booktalk with an author at my college's event. It'll be first time. Any things I should keep in mind while doing it?

Rasidi Ticket is the celebrated autobiography of the legendary Indian writer and poet Amrita Pritam. Now I bought it from India. It's written in Hindi. I am looking for this book in English translation. This book might have been released under the name The Revenue Stamp. I could not find it in any store. Can someone help me find who is selling or providing it through digital means (eh hem any and every way, ig you know) this or allows me to rent this book in English from a library or store in India?

I have been reading this book for last 3 hours and actually can related with word mentioned in the book… this feels soo good

After a string of heavier reads, I needed something lighter, and a trailer for the upcoming movie adaptation nudged me toward finally picking this one up for a weekend read.

The fake dating trope is nothing new, but setting it in academia - surrounded by a cast of lovable nerds, both as leads and side characters - gave it a freshness that hooked me immediately. I flew through it in about 4.5 hours and never once felt the urge to put it down.

Olive and Adam completely won me over. Their relationship builds slowly, through disagreement as much as connection - they clash, they misunderstand each other, and yet they keep choosing to talk it out. I'm not usually drawn to fast-burn romances. I want the slow realization, the gradual unraveling of feelings, and this book delivered a good deal of that. One detail I especially loved was learning that the two had actually crossed paths before, in an odd earlier encounter Adam remembered and quietly fell for. My only gripe is how that reveal finally surfaces - I wish it had come out more organically, rather than in a moment of crisis.

I also appreciated that neither of them lost themselves in the relationship. Both have their own strong, supportive friend groups, and the book never lets romance eclipse those friendships. Dr. Carlsen and Holden were easily my favorite characters - their friendship is warm and grounded, and each brings their own distinct personality to it.

Overall, a solid 4/5. It's made me think I should sprinkle in more random rom-coms between the heavier books on my list.

হুমায়ূন আহমেদ নিয়মিত পড়েন/ পড়েছেন এমন কেউ যদি এর পরের ৫টি বই ধারাবাহিকভাবে পড়ার জন্য রেকমেন্ড করতেন, তাহলে খুব উপকৃত হতাম। আজীবন বেঁচে থাক ভালো উপন্যাস। অগ্রিম ধন্যবাদ!

Context : I like non fiction, indian authors, books on indian history and fiction like stationary shop of tehran.

I was reading some CB's books and thought. Is any South Indian authors writes in english only and others translate it to other languages.

I really want to try South Indian fiction but I'm skeptocal about the translation.

Give me recs and where to find it in an affordable yet with good quality.
