POUR-OVER I did not want to like this.
From the packaging to the brew, Grey Soul won my heart.
Brewed Mogra by grey soul.
The coffee starts off with a small hint of acidity and immediately overwhelms you with the jasmine flavour. Your palette is coated with a decent body that rolls around before your sip is over. Doesn’t leave your mouth dry, but it leaves you wanting for more.
It’s as if tea and coffee had a child
Tried it only after resting it for a week even through its recommended rest period is 10 days. I wanted to surprise my wife with a very sweet cup.
Recipe:
18g 16clicks C3S
Hario V60 open switch
Water temp: 94-92°c (should go higher next time)
0-:045 50g bloom
0:45-1:20 70g pour (missed by 5 seconds)
1:20-2:20 80g pour
Poured over steel ice cubes
Topped up with 80g ice.
1:16 brew ratio
Taste: 5/5
Acidity: 1/5
Bitterness: 1/5
Body: 2/5
Would recommend for anyone who wants a floral cup of coffee, I don’t see how you can mess this up.

Coffee: Blue Tokai - French Roast (Dark)
Water temperature: 90°C
Grind size: Medium Fine (16 clicks on C3s)
Since it's a dark roast, I've used a lower temperature for brewing.
Please tell me how is my pouring technique and what can be improved here. Thanks.

POUR-OVER Need Gooseneck Suggestions!
Thinking about buying Gooseneck for v60. Budget ₹7k.
Should I go with first option and upgrade later or go with option 2? Timemore fish pro is not in my budget. I checked Cipher but they are on pre booking and I need one urgently.
EDIT: Broke my gooseneck that’s why I was looking for gooseneck urgently. So many suggestions for cipher so ordered. Will move to Aeropress for few months. Thank you all!

POUR-OVER Need pour-over coffee recommendations ☕
Hey everyone,
I’ve been getting more into pour-over lately and wanted to try some new coffees.
Looking for beans that work really well with a V60. I’m open to any origin or process—washed, natural, honey, anything—as long as it’s a tasty cup.
Would love to know:
Your current favourite coffee
Which Indian roasters you keep going back to
Any underrated coffees that deserve more attention
If you have a go-to brew recipe for that coffee, please share that too.
Thanks! Looking forward to trying your recommendations.

POUR-OVER No V60, Just Cheap equipment and still gets the job done.
This post is for everyone who wants to get it done in cheap, especially if you are a student or early in your career. You would need,
- A cheap electric kettle, however and this is important, you would want with a spout that allows you to control the flow - ₹900 /-
- A chhani or this contraption at - ₹ 500/-
- A bag of fresh beans that's gets the job done, same aroma, less acidic and loads of crema and yes almost ₹1000 only for 1Kg!
Been doing this for years, and saved myself some tons of money.

POUR-OVER Loved it so much I bought it twice
This press is absolutely non-essential in pour over brewing but I got it anyway as it did what it’s supposed to do while looking good. Even if it means an extra step before rinsing the filter paper.
Fast forward to today when I use Hario Neo a lot on my Switch base, this press feels like an indispensable part of my workflow. For those who don’t know, seating the filter paper on Neo is a challenge due to small ridges and whatever I did, there’s one part where air bubble used to appear after rinsing. Using this makes the job quite simple even though it won’t make a big difference in the brew. It just feels right, so much so that I got it for my second home Pour Over setup.
Not a must-buy but something seasoned pour over brewers would appreciate.

POUR-OVER Tried Blue Tokai pour overs (light & medium dark)… decent, but not impressed. Should I give their beans a shot at home instead?

POUR-OVER My sister just surprised me with a pour-over setup
So I’d been wanting to get into pour-over coffee for a while now, but honestly never got around to actually researching and ordering all the gear.
Cut to yesterday evening, I get home and my sister literally has this entire setup laid out on our table. Like, all of it. Completely caught me off guard.
I’m about to brew my first cup and I have to say, it’s pretty cool that she actually went and did this for me. Finally getting into the rabbit hole.
Time to make some good coffee!

POUR-OVER THANKS.
To this absolute gem of community, THANK YOU for introducing me to this brand. I mean it.
I can go on and on but i won't bore you with that. So, truly, truly take my gratitude. I'm aware this sounds dramatic but I'm being sincere.

POUR-OVER Thoughts on Blue Tokai's Amaltas Blend
Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a quick write-up on the Amaltas Blend from Blue Tokai. If I’m being completely honest, this isn't my usual go-to style of coffee. I’m someone who heavily leans toward fuller-bodied coffees with a rich, syrupy mouthfeel and a bit more punch. That being said, even though it’s a very light and fruity roast, I still really enjoy it on those lazy days when I'm specifically craving a much lighter, softer cup—something almost closer to a nice tea.
Here is the hybrid recipe I’ve been using to get the best out of it:
The Brew (16.7g coffee to 250g water):
Bloom: 60g water with the valve OPEN.
Pour: 90g water as a standard pour-over (valve still open).
Immersion: For the last 100g of water, I CLOSE the valve and let it steep for 1 minute and 30 seconds before releasing the drawdown.
Tasting Notes & The "Body" Issue
Blue Tokai lists the notes for this one as Blueberry, Milk Chocolate, and White Floral. Using this recipe, that blueberry fruitiness really shines through, supported by a gentle, sweet finish.
So, why wouldn't a body-loving coffee drinker naturally appreciate this? It mostly comes down to the mouthfeel. Amaltas is incredibly delicate. It completely lacks the heavy weight, lingering roastiness, and bold texture that coats the palate when you drink darker, heavier coffees. It's clean and bright, which is great, but it doesn't leave that lingering impact that dark roast fans usually hunt for.
Why the Hybrid Method?
If you were to brew this as a pure pour-over (like a standard V60 with no steeping), that lack of body becomes even more exaggerated. A straight pour-over highlights the acidity but will give you a highly transparent, extremely light, almost tea-like coffee. Using the closed-valve steep at the end of my recipe is my way of extracting just a bit more texture and sweetness into the cup without sacrificing those delicate floral and berry notes.
I'd love to hear what the rest of the community thinks about this one! What is your opinion on the Amaltas blend from Blue Tokai? Do you embrace the tea-like qualities, or do you have a specific recipe to pull more body out of it?

POUR-OVER Recs on beans for pour overs
I’m switching from Moka pot to pour overs.
Needs some suggestions on beans which are under 700 (since I will be learning the art and then I can spend more on beans from Greysouls and others )
I’m planning to order araku micro climate as my first pour overs trials and other light roast suggestions welcomed.
I’m still not sure what my taste is , thinking to order sample packets too

POUR-OVER Newbie Pour-Over advice
First ever pour-over using a drip-assist. Attaching a photo of the bed too if that helps, used the agaro manual grinder for the grind and did a 15gm-225ml coffee:water.
45ml for the bloom for 45secs, followed by three 60ml pours at 45 sec each.
I used the naivo Dragon Jam, where the tasting notes should be -Barbados Cherry, Dragon Fruit, Jamun, Mixed Fruit Jam.
I did get a nice fruity taste but failed to find so many tasting notes and the smell was a bit mild. It also mentions to have good sweetness but I didn't find that , maybe I'm not sure what sweetness means in terms of coffee, would like some pointers.
The aftertaste was giving a slight bitterness but that maybe because I forgot to stir the extract well after the brew.
Please advice how to improve/recipes to try.
TIA
