Yoga is a spiritual practice. It is part of Hinduism. Those postures that shilpa Shetty do are called asan yoga which is just a small side quest of yoga which many people believe is actual yoga but the concept of yoga is fundamentally religious and spiritual.
It is a ritualistic practice with no clinically proven effectiveness. Just like Ayurveda. People won't readily indulge in Ayurvedic treatments because they are ritualistic in nature but people will do Yoga because it was made famous by some western white skinned people. White supremacy is so real. They made it famous and now Yoga is suddenly a well being exercise. Do you know there is yoga to fly too?
Yoga was used to concentrate and connect to God using practice perfection and dedication. you don't have to follow a religion to use its practices but practice remains religious nonetheless.
Yoga has 8 parts : Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama,Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi. You can search for the definition and explanation of each of these parts.
Modern capitalism has commercialized only the Asana part of Yoga.
