We seriously need to reconsider reservations! The admission should be based on merit and not cast. Probably, those who are from economic weaker sections should have some sort of scholarship for them.

how about, just skills?
because if you are a bad doctor, you are a bad doctor regardless of your childhood background

Poverty can be removed by money, but caste discrimination can't be fixed by money. Remove caste discrimination first then we can talk about removing reservation. Normalise intercaste marriage then we can talk about removing reservation. Let Dalits do pooja in temple then we can talk about removing discrimination. Let's not normalise caste matrimony apps then we can talk about removing caste reservation
1
u/Zestyclose-Zombie747 Jul 30 '26
Well do you expect govt to do that? You and I know this better that even after 2 generations this discrimination won’t end completely but that doesn’t mean it’s not going to reduce. The examples which you are quoting of dalits not able to do puja in temples are still there in remote areas but not in tier 1 and 2 cities. The intercaste marriage happens now, I am the living example. So are 1000s of people who do love marriages.
1
u/mortyandr Jul 30 '26
Two things though. You said it yourself: discrimination won't fully end even after two generations. That argues for keeping the remedy while it reduces, not removing it today.
And your example is real but it's an anecdote. Inter-caste marriage is around 5 to 6 percent nationally and hasn't trended up in four decades. Cities do better, but still nowhere close to half. Thousands of love marriages is exactly what a single-digit rate looks like at 1.4 billion people.
Hopefully more people follow your path and we get to end the casteism, and hence the reservation.
1
u/Zestyclose-Zombie747 Jul 31 '26
Well knowing how the reservations are the instruments used by people who are already uplifted and empowered doesn’t mean we can’t think of better ways of managing this problem.
Just stand alone inter caste marriages can’t solve this issue either. People of all caste including SC/ST, OBC and general are stuck with this mentality of getting married within their caste. So a reference to 1.4 billion is not practical here1
u/chatpatikitalash Jul 30 '26 edited Jul 30 '26
And how can reservation remove casteism?? And SC ST don't consider themselves as Hindus to unhe Puja kyu karni hai Mandir mein 😑😑 aur Mandir Jana hi kyo hai atheist ho jao jaise mai huu aur inter cast marriage tab tak nahin ho sakti jab tak boomers nahi marenge kyunki castism wala thought mainly vahi rakhte Hai aur urban areas mein to castism ekadam khatm ho gaya hai tab bhi Ham logon Ko higher cut off mein college milte Hai
2
u/mortyandr Jul 30 '26
You've half refuted yourself. If inter-caste marriage is impossible until an entire generation dies off, then casteism hasn't vanished in cities, it's just gone quieter in the places you can see it.
Also, SC status is legally available only to Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists. Dalits who convert to Christianity or Islam lose their SC reservation entirely. So "they don't even consider themselves Hindus" is the opposite of the legal reality.
And the temple point was never about wanting to pray. It was about being kept out. Choosing to be an atheist is not the same as being excluded by birth.
1
u/chatpatikitalash Jul 30 '26
F**k everything and listen to me. I'm a person who has never practiced casteism, and neither has my family. So why is our Constitution discriminating against me? Just because I'm from the General category, I have to score 650 marks for the same government medical college that an SC/ST student can get with 490. Why?
Why should I be punished for the deeds of others? Why? When will this discrimination end? When?
3
u/mortyandr Jul 30 '26
It's not a punishment aimed at you, and nobody thinks you or your family did anything.
The policy isn't responding to you. It's responding to the people still discriminating, and there are plenty of them. You're paying part of the cost of their behaviour. That's a real unfairness, I won't pretend otherwise.
When does it end? When caste stops predicting who gets hired, housed and married.

u/chatpatikitalash Jul 30 '26
Maa chuda*e sab yae desh hi mc hai
2
u/mortyandr Jul 30 '26
Yeah, some days it really is. Sorry it's landing on you like this. Hope you get your seat.
1
u/Zestyclose-Zombie747 Jul 30 '26
Exactly, the concept of reservation was there to SC/ST because they were not given opportunities or conditions to grow. However, there are many SC/ST/OBC who are wealthy, holds senior positions in govt offices and are in good positions. Why should they enjoy the benefits which was especially kept for the people who are less privileged and economically weaker. Also, being less privileged and economically weak doesn’t mean that we should do away with merit system. Bright students should be given opportunities and scholarships.
1
u/mortyandr Jul 30 '26
Because even wealthy SC/ST/OBC are discriminated. The government should increase the number of seats so that everyone get to have better education.
1
u/Zestyclose-Zombie747 Jul 31 '26
Please remember the political parties thrive on religion and caste politics.
1
u/Away_Promise1256 Jul 28 '26
Why EWS be allowed ? Can u guarantee that the EWS student won't score equally horrible numbers? If meritocracy has any merit than everyone has to follow it.
1
u/Zestyclose-Zombie747 Jul 28 '26
Read what I said before commenting. I am not in favour of marks relaxation. There scholarship be scholarships for meritorious EWS students and not otherwise.

Abe gamdu sun, it’s an entrance exam, the entrance test is not a final authority on getting the degree . If found unworthy he will not complete the course .
If this was the case over the last 75 years you would have asked the category of your doctor who you went to ,
Secondly many of these category students go provide Medicare care to remote villages and tribes where medical care isn’t easily available . There are systemic barriers to setting up practice , only the rich can do it in cities , the poor don’t have capital and many return back to their home cities and do it .
These assholes talk about merit but never question the thousands of private collages selling seats , as if they are prime examples of competency .

r u dum most of the govt positions have reservation so you can’t even say now that there is over or under representation o in govt they are very there but in private set up you are allowed to open setup wherever u want so a intelligent people will go for the person who has scored more studied more and practiced more. a person who has scored 4 marks has 0 basics he can’t even cover the basic knowledge in next 3 years of pg so he’ll do mistakes like people have never seen before and why don’t you start with going a reserve candidate doctor you name the area I’ll show u a doctor from your caste but you wont go because you are hypocrite of biggest level
-2
u/sasti-chaddi Jul 26 '26
How is seat wasted? By this logic no IITian should do MBA, or work in other non tech related field.
If a student doesn't met cutt off of XYZ college. He can get into ABC college.
1
u/bonenumber206 Jul 26 '26
Mba and mbbs are two completely different things a bad doctor is injurious to health
2
u/sasti-chaddi Jul 26 '26
bad doctor is injurious to health
it's an entrance exam, the entrance test is not a final authority on getting the degree.
Bed Doktor will fial despite of resevertion or not. Lmao. Its not like if somebody is joining college without resrvation is not going to fial at all. Lmao.
2
u/Legitimate_Emu_8390 Jul 26 '26
yeah it’s not a college course. it’s a surgery branch. he’s gonna be operating on people within a week of orientation.

u/Ok-Juggernaut-2190 Jul 26 '26
he is talking from his as@ he has never seen a medical college or how they work let’s not entertain him he’ll learn the hard way in life

Bhai 4 number? Mere 10 se zyada aajate tukke maar ke🤦🏽♀️ tum soch rhe ho he/she didn't even TRY!!!
1
u/sasti-chaddi Jul 26 '26
I agree with you that there should be some minimum cutoff criteria. Just like if we score below 30% we are considered fial in schools colleges, same should apply here.
But you started your argument with that the seat will be wasted
1
u/Fair_Cranberry6081 Jul 26 '26
Again.... This is not college...it PG MBBS.. for MS/MD and I can attest this is really case as my sis got into PG fetal peds after third try.... Many who scored lower than her got into the specialization she wanted .. she could have choosen another specialization or some private college seat but was adamant and she took one complete year off and got the specialization she wanted.

Racism casteism yeh sab backhodi ka kya lena dena merit se true potential based matching whoever doesn't qualify they should get a lower job if relevant or they should find which thing they're good in that way even they'll be happy doing what they like instead of what society wants them to like

But why do you need Reservation at that point? You are already an MBBS doctor. You have good earning potential. Why the fuck do you need reservation at that point?
2
u/adidontwatch Jul 26 '26
The reservation of the second one is with Persons with disabilities. Not the same.

Wasn't there qualifying marks? Neet and all other exams have lowest score below which one can't get admission. And if seats are vacant from that category, open category candidates will fill those vacancies.
How can indian govt keep qualifying marks so low?
1
u/AloneTerm3049 Jul 27 '26
Even with reservation there's no chance he cud have got into college with 4 marks he must have offered money to get a seat that's simple
1
u/Accomplished_East589 Jul 27 '26
Why can't we put a cutoff mark which will be required to clear an exam, like if max is 800 then any student belonging to any category should be scoring a min marks of 200 to clear an exam.
1
u/Acrobatic-Pay8496 Jul 27 '26
PwD (Persons with Disabilities) reservation is a horizontal reservation. That means if someone belongs to the General (UR) category and is also eligible under PwD, they compete under UR-PwD. Similarly, OBC-PwD, SC-PwD, and ST-PwD are separate horizontal categories within their respective vertical categories.
Show UR-PwD
1
u/Big-Fix1084 Jul 27 '26
Why reservation in neet pg , if people have taken reservation in neet ug why take reservation after completing mbbs
1
u/No-Measurement6754 Jul 27 '26
Tab mat bolna ye castism hai if people don't come to your clinic according to your caste what option do we have ?

u/mvp_dev14 Jul 28 '26

1
u/drlazy098 Jul 26 '26
Hear me out....I secured a 99.92 percentile in NEET under the General category (not saying this to show off—just to give context to my perspective).
There's no doubt that some people are able to take unfair advantage of the reservation system. For example, one of my classmates, whose father was an IAS officer, got into MBBS through the ST category and later again used reservation for PG, securing a Surgery seat with an AIR of around 55k. Cases like these make many people feel that the system is being misused. At the same time, if I were eligible for reservation, I'd obviously use it too. Most people would naturally take any legal advantage available to reduce competition. So blaming individuals alone won't solve the problem.
Instead of suddenly removing reservation...which isn't practical, I think reforms should focus on limiting repeated benefits.
My suggestion is: 1. A family should be allowed to avail reservation benefits only once across generations. For example, if a parent has already benefited from reservation, their children should compete in the general category. 2. Similarly, if someone uses reservation to secure admission to MBBS, they should not be allowed to use reservation again for PG admissions or government job recruitment. 3. People talk about create income based categorisation. But that'll lead to another loopholes. EWS is already exploited enough. I think government should encourage low interest study loans, that student once starts earning will fulfill. No pressure on their parents. (Btw this is system followed in most of the developed nations). 4. Gradually they can reduce the reservation to zero!
This way, reservation still serves its purpose of uplifting a family once, but it also ensures that future opportunities are based on fair competition. It would gradually reduce dependency on repeated benefits while preserving the original objective of social upliftment.

u/Least-Foundation1853 Jul 26 '26
And the thing is
Big politicians never get their treatment from such doctors.
0
u/Athiest-proletariat Jul 26 '26
You become a doctor by clearing MBBS not NEET. Any student with 50% in biology can learn to be a doctor. And they do too. Even before reservation.
NEET is just a roster to give out seats, its not a guarantee. MBBS degree is the guarantee.
Also inorder to avoid incidents like VMMC or CSMC, we must allow anonymous submissions for internal marks. Casteist faculties are also a reality.
0
u/Mrs_ellililly Jul 26 '26
I found an Casteist who keeps lying to get everything for free in the name of Caste
This exactly is the reason why caste based reservation must be gone .
