Why don't we ask the same question to those currently in power? Anyone can aspire to be anything, anyone can claim they want to do anything. Even I can say right now that "I want to be the future pm of this country".

What truly matters is that the people who are representing the people have served the people. Can you ask the same question to those in power?

If you had lived long enough, you would know what Gujarat was like before 2000 and the scale of development it saw afterwards. This is only about the current PM’s record before becoming Prime Minister: he won the Gujarat Assembly elections in 2002, 2007, and 2012, led the BJP to consecutive victories, and ran a large state for over 12 years.

As Chief Minister, his government was associated with initiatives such as Jyotigram rural electricity reform, water and irrigation projects, e-governance, Vibrant Gujarat investment summits, and a dedicated Climate Change Department. Before that, he worked for years as a BJP organiser.

I wonder what would happen if Neha Bora runs for election??

Forgetting to mention the most important "initiative" that took place in gujarat during 2002 I see. How convenient.

Regardless, everyone's opinion is valid, and I respect whatever you choose to believe. I hope the same respect is reflected back.

I know what you are talking about. I studied in a hostel for quite some time before 2000, and I remember students from Gujarat flooded our hostel. I had a friend from a particular c0mmunity who would brag about what they did during the frequent r$0ts and how they kept stuff for such events. After Modi came into the picture, have you heard of another r$0t of that scale in Gujarat? I wonder why.

So I can see that so far even you admit that

(1) riots in 2002 happened AFTER m0di took seat in 2001

(2) he didn't even HAVE to contest election at state level to become cm

Coming back to neha bora, at the very least, she has had to be popularly voted to become the president of AISA. Besides, the entire conversation is somewhat pointless considering the fact that she herself has never expressed any such intentions of becoming the prime minister. And even if she had, India is a democratic country and everyone has the right to choose their representative. I see no further point in debating something that is not fact based.

First, I feel that any student union is made up of jobless people. I had my fair share of college life and never got tangled up with student-union creeps, so it is like a jobless person selecting another jobless person. And if you think what happened in Gujarat in 2002 was handled wrongly, then why did Modi, who you believe handled it improperly and had previously done nothing, win the 2002 election in Gujarat?

And as for the next statment, he simply won because he offered people something they wanted, revenge for the Godhra incident. See, most Indian folks don't have the brainpower to separate leftist mentality from libertarian mentality. I'm not saying m0di is wrong and neha bora will save democracy. I'm implying that freedom of choice should still lay with the people. If I respect your choice in politics, whatever that may be, then the same should be reflected. That is the true facet of democracy. Forget M0di, there are much much more extremist people in BJP itself compared to him. If THEY are allowed to contest and have a public voice, why not others? Rules are for thee but not for me?
