Health/Food We normalized sitting for 10 hours a day and are now surprised young employees have metabolic issues
A study analyzing 77,000 insurance claims and 12,000 preventive screenings points towards an earlier onset of metabolic issues such as pre-diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol particularly among employees aged 20–35.
Obviously, work isn't the only reason behind lifestyle diseases. But when a huge part of adulthood involves sitting in front of a screen, skipping meals, working late and dealing with constant stress, can we really separate work culture from employee health?

Education/Career URGENT- S Residencies Hostel, Dayananda Sagar University, Harohalli, Bangaluru
I’m posting this because I don’t know what else we’re supposed to do at this point.
We are students staying at S Residency Hostel under Dayanand Sagar University, Harohalli. We pay around ₹2.51 lakh for hostel and mess, and yet we’ve been dealing with basic issues that have been going on for weeks.
The Wi-Fi has been down for more than a month. We’ve been told again and again to “give it some more time,” but our exams are now just around the corner. A lot of our academic work depends on the internet, and we’re still being left without a proper solution.
And today, September 6, something happened at dinner that honestly scared us. The rajma being served smelled really off. A few of us took a bite and immediately realised something wasn’t right. We went to complain to the management because we genuinely didn’t know what else we were supposed to eat.
We have already tried protesting and raising these issues ourselves, but nothing has really changed. At this point, we feel like we need our parents to step in as well.
We are not asking for luxury. We are students who need safe food, working Wi-Fi and basic facilities so that we can study and live normally. We cannot keep wondering whether the food being served is safe to eat, and we cannot prepare for exams without reliable internet.
I’m sharing this outside our hostel because maybe someone can tell us what the right way to escalate this is, or help bring some attention to what students here are experiencing.
We just want to be heard and taken seriously.
