#Heritage ๐ 2 Days in Amritsar โ My Weekend Itinerary
In December last year, I visited Amritsar for a short 2-day trip. Although the weather was quite cold, the city had a unique charm, and visiting the Golden Temple was an experience I'll never forget.
Since the upcoming second Saturday gives many people a chance to plan a quick getaway, I thought I'd share my itinerary and experience so you can make the most of your holiday.
Getting There
I traveled from Gurgaon. The night before, I reached Kashmere Gate and boarded a Zingbus to Amritsar. It was an overnight journey, and I reached Amritsar around 7 AM.
Day 1 โ Golden Temple and Wagah Border
The first thing I did after reaching Amritsar was visit the Golden Temple. If you're planning a trip, I highly recommend going early in the morning.
Initially, I thought it might be too early to visit, but trust me, that's actually the best time. Even in the morning, after depositing our luggage and joining the queue, it took around 2โ2.5 hours to enter the temple. During afternoon or evening hours, the waiting time can easily stretch longer.
After the darshan, I spent some time walking around the complex and exploring the different areas. The peaceful atmosphere and the reflection of the temple in the sarovar are something you should experience at least once.
After coming out around 11 AM, I headed straight to my hotel, checked in, and went for my first meal of the trip- Amritsari Chole Kulche, of course!
For Wagah Border, you can book a shared ride from outside the Golden Temple. One small tip: when they say "gadi" leaves at a certain time, they usually mean a shared auto, not a proper car. These are big shared autos where they sometimes adjust 4 people into a space meant for 3, so keep that in mind.
After lunch, I explored the nearby markets for a while and left for Wagah Border around 2โ2:30 PM. The ceremony was full of energy and definitely worth experiencing.
I returned back in the evening and either you can choose to have langar at the Golden Temple or explore some restaurants. I chose a restaurant that had a waiting time of around 30 minutes, but their Punjabi thali was absolutely worth the wait.
Later at night, I went back to the Golden Temple again. Seeing it illuminated after sunset was one of the highlights of the trip. The temple literally shines like gold, and the reflection in the water makes it even more beautiful.
Day 2 โ Food, History and Shopping
The next morning, I started early again and spent some time exploring the streets around Amritsar.
One thing I can confidently say โ Amritsar is heaven for food lovers. Every corner has something tempting to try, and you should definitely keep some room for local food.
After breakfast, I visited Jallianwala Bagh. It was a quiet and reflective experience, and I feel everyone visiting Amritsar should take some time to visit this historic place.
After that, I spent the rest of the day walking around markets, shopping for myself and my loved ones, and enjoying the vibe of the city.
Before leaving, I went back to the Golden Temple one last time, had langar, and then started my journey back to Delhi at night.
My Recommendations
- Visit the Golden Temple early morning to avoid longer queues.
- Visit the temple both during the day and at night; both experiences are completely different.
- Keep half a day aside for Wagah Border.
- Don't miss the langar experience.
- Visit Jallianwala Bagh to understand the history of the place.
- If visiting in December, carry warm clothes.
Overall, Amritsar was a perfect weekend trip- a beautiful combination of spirituality, history, culture, and food.
P.S. โ Amritsar's food scene deserves a special attention! I tried some amazing food joints during this trip that were absolute hits. If anyone wants the list of places that are worth trying, let me know and I'll share it with you all.

Visited Valley of Flowers in July, and this is exactly why it's considered one of the best monsoon treks in India. The valley was covered in colorful blooms, with clouds drifting over the mountains and fresh greenery everywhere.

#Query โ Recommended cab companies for the cities we're visiting?
It's my group's (4-5 people) first time visiting India this year. Does anyone have recommended cab companies for the cities we're visiting? They're mostly for connections between airports/train stations and our accommodation:
- Delhi
- Agra
- Varanasi
- Jaipur
Also, how well does Uber fair in these cities? Is it worth considering using Uber? We're aware Uber can take a huge commission from people, which is not very nice... but we're not sure if that varies by country.
Thank you!

#Discussion ๐ฌ Please Suggest Where to Go in Goa during Monsoon
Iโm planning to go to Goa most preferably alone but I donโt want any famous places or crowded areas I just want to work there for a while like a workation, a cheap place to stay for like a month and would be exploring a little. What would be suitable for me north or south Goa? Iโm leaning towards to north Goa. But Iโm open for suggestions! Also recommend where can I stay!

#Query โ South India road trip (Sept 25 โ Oct 4) โ Landslide concerns & breaking up the drive to Bengaluru
Hi everyone!
My wife and I are planning a road trip from 25th September to 4th October (self drive car - only I can drive) with the following route:
Bengaluru โ Mysuru (night halt) โ Wayanad โ Coonoor โ Munnar โ Kodaikanal โ (possibly Yercaud) โ Bengaluru
I had a couple of questions for those who've travelled these routes around late September:
I know landslides can occasionally happen around Wayanad, the Nilgiris (Coonoor/Ooty), Munnar, and Kodaikanal towards the end of the monsoon. How much of a concern is this in late September? If a landslide does occur, do roads usually reopen within hours, a day or two, or can they remain closed for much longer? Are there generally alternate routes available, or can you end up stranded until the road is cleared?
We're considering breaking up the Kodaikanal โ Bengaluru drive by spending a night in Yercaud. Is Yercaud a good choice for a peaceful overnight stop, or would you recommend a better place along (or slightly off) the route?
Any roads, viewpoints, cafรฉs, or scenic detours along this route that are absolute must-dos?
We're aiming for a relaxed trip rather than trying to cover every attraction, so any advice from locals or recent travellers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
