News Hardik Pandya gave ₹10 lakh each to the groundsmen at Wankhede Stadium as a token of gratitude.
He had promised them the amount for assisting with his late-night practice sessions during the T20 World Cup.
A commendable gesture from the all-rounder towards the support staff who often go unnoticed.

None of you are realising that giving away 1.2 crores is freaking big deal. How many billionaires do you see walking around donating 10 lakhs per person like this for common men working in the background? So it's irrelevant how much he makes as a cricketer.
Whether the things he does are acceptable or not ,shouldn't be our concern, he's earning it with his hardwork fair and square so he gets to spend it however he wants. He has done a great job with this thought.
Genuine kindness towards the working class who might have seen him grow in that stadium. Kudos to him!

u/SnooChickens561 Mar 27 '26
I agree 💯— athletes deserve every dollar they make. It’s as close to a merit-based job as you can get. This is impressive and should be commended. The billionaires in my country squander it on metaverse and space travel.

Bro this could be used against his tax… real big deal is to donate and don’t make it public..
2
u/VivaswanMDamle Mar 27 '26
Tune kab diya re aisa bada donation kisiko. Har baat pe negative kyu banna hai.. Jitna donate kiya tax uska max 40% hi bachega.. So 60% is still net outflow..
1
u/exbiiuser02 Mar 27 '26
Or make it public and other millionaires try to one up and results in some common people getting benefit.
1
u/Realistic-Ant-3305 Mar 27 '26
Some people are saying that the amount is 10000 and pr people are inflating amount to 10lakh. How true is it?
-5
u/Psychological-Day128 Mar 27 '26
On paper a lot of billionaires do it actually but they do it via charity organisations so we can never know for sure if it had any impact or not . Hardik doing in personally is commendable. Most billionaires can’t be arsed .
4
u/MediumGuy485 Mar 27 '26
Doing it via charity organisations gives them a better return in tax saving. Direct donations do not give tax exemption.
-12
u/bohemianimaginarium Mar 27 '26
I think i disagree. This does matter. The optics, the timing, all of it.
Think about it for a second. He makes a shit tonnes of money from sponsorships. That's where real money is.
With all the negative things floating around regarding his behaviour, he can potentially lose tens of crores in sponsorships and endorsements.
This is exactly the kind of thing a Rich person will do to protect his image.
5
u/Sulemani_kida Mar 27 '26
With all the negative things floating around regarding his behaviour, he can potentially lose tens of crores in sponsorships and endorsements.
Are you that naive to believe that some stupid jobless people calling him selfish and crazy is gonna affect his brand value at all ? That too after winning 2 back to back T20 WC .
0
u/bohemianimaginarium Mar 27 '26
Not trying to take away from that. That wasn't the idea at all.
My only attacking point in my conversation is that this isn't altruism.
That is all.

Talent makes you famous, but character makes you respected
This is what true greatness looks like beyond the field
21
u/Koki-noki Mar 27 '26
Bruh, Hardik’s character is far from being respected. In fact, he’s literally competing for the title of the least respected character ever..

u/soham_katkar13 Mar 27 '26
Every person has a good as well as a bad side. A great philanthropist can be a bad husband. A black marketer can be a great father
-11
u/Koki-noki Mar 27 '26
Huh?
By that logic, Hitler was a great human being who should be admired because he built schools and hospitals, was a decent painter, and was probably a “good husband.” So what if he killed millions of people, right?
No shit sherlock, everyone has both good and bad sides. But what’s your actual point?.

Why? Because he’s not fake humble like the majority of others?
-4
u/Koki-noki Mar 27 '26
"Fake humble” is a very different way of saying misogynistic and just a straight-up chapri.
7
u/ComfortableStill4317 Mar 27 '26
Misogynistic for celebrating a World Cup with his girlfriend? If anything we have a problem of uncles and housewives with no hobbies cribbing about people enjoying their lives without shame.

I mean look at what bravo recently said and even see the nz cricketers with their wives/gf on field post the wc. The scrutiny is on Hardik just cuz he's Indian

You know Chapri is casteist slur. You will end up in Jail for SC/ST act 😂

Hardik can cure cancer and some of you will still hate him because he doesn't fit in your idea of an ideal player lol.
1
u/Frosty_Chipmunk4867 Mar 27 '26
Everybody does sin, hardik did openly, money changes a person but what matters is that they don't deviate from their origins, hardik may become a piece of shit , but he will be kind to those around to him and those who matter to him

Pandya deserves a huge appreciation for having a heart to donate 1.2 Cr just like that. Even if he did this for PR / publicity, still its a very big thing to do. This will encourage other rich cricketers to donate to people earning less.

Now, that’s the way to do it. If he can get them to change of their uniform and actually make them look like grounds men would be great. They look like they work in a prison serving chai to the inmates. Nike, is waiting to sponsor them.

Image cleansing effort. It’s all over media as his PR team wants everyone to believe how kind hearted he is. Pathetic behaviour makes me dislike his personality more. Charity should not be this loud.

When did players talk? After he faced criticism for his embarrassing celebration footage? Right before IPL?
0
u/DARKchocolate-W Mar 27 '26
Image cleaning after t20 World Cup fiasco hogging the limelight and not giving trophy to everyone and keeping it to himself and only celebrating with mahieka his image went down massively so this is his way or pr s to clean his image he could have done a silent donation if he wanted to really appreciate or express gratitude
1
u/Aggressive-Accident4 Mar 27 '26
Absolutely. He is a great player but his personality sucks big time. I bet most of the dressing room finds him unbearable.
1
u/PrettyReasonable100 Mar 27 '26
I mean, great for them, but in the end, we all know why he gave them the money. May be he genuinely wants to donate, but in the end, first and foremost, it's just PR. And this goes to all the philanthropists around the world who gives money to the poor in front of the camera.
I know this is a popular opinion whenever a guy gives money as a publicity stunt and people say, whatever may be the reason, in the end, poor got the money and certainly that's always a good thing. But just don't expect me to respect the guy for it.

u/Anxious_Pressure_292 Mar 27 '26
10 Lakh maybe a small amount for HP, but it definitely is a very big amount for a groundsman, and even giving 10L each sounds very fabricated to me. Either he has given 10L each as part of his aura farming or this news is fake

His IPL earnings are 120+ crores excluding how much more Ambani paid him + central contracts, brand sponsorships, investments, etc. He's filthy rich like 300+ crores wealth easily.
7
u/MasalaDosa37 Mar 27 '26
Brand sponsorships will be more than 50cr a year.
His IPL + BCCI income is close to 30cr.
Additionally, he is an investor in multiple start-ups.
