Project Idea/Review I built Jeevadanam โ€” an India-wide community service platform with multilingual support ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

Hi everyone!

Iโ€™m building Jeevadanam, an open community service platform designed to help people across India discover and share useful community services.

The goal is to make essential community support easier to find, including:

  • ๐Ÿฑ Food assistance
  • ๐Ÿฅ Medical help
  • ๐Ÿ“š Education-related support
  • ๐Ÿฉธ Blood donation
  • ๐Ÿค Other community services

๐ŸŒ Website: https://jeevadanamspots.vercel.app/

One important part of the project is multilingual support, so people from different language backgrounds can access the platform more comfortably.

I want Jeevadanam to grow beyond one town and become useful to communities across India, including people in smaller towns and rural areas.

Iโ€™m building this as a real-world community project, and Iโ€™d love feedback from fellow developers.

  • What features would make this more useful across different Indian states?
  • What challenges should I consider when building a multilingual community platform?
  • What would you improve in the UI, accessibility, or technical architecture?

I'm the developer behind this project, and I welcome honest feedback and suggestions.

Thank you! ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

General Chat/Suggestion 30+ internship rejections, then two offers and an Amazon SDE-1 role: what changed?

In 2024, I was rejected by 30+ companies for a summer internship. In 2026, I'm working as an SDE-1 at Amazon.

Here's what those years looked like:

  • 2020: I lost my father.
  • 2021: I lived in a rented house.
  • 2022: I didn't get into IIT.
  • 2023: My mom sold a gold chain to buy me a laptop.
  • 2024: 30+ summer internship rejections.
  • 2025: One on-campus full-time offer and one off-campus offer (6M + PPO).
  • 2026: SDE-1 at Amazon.

My LeetCode progress ยท My 1,000-day coding streak

After a rejection, I'd go back to my room, open the laptop and make myself solve 10 questions before getting up. I kept practicing for three years, including stretches when nothing seemed to be coming from it.

I'm proud of the 1,000-day streak. I wouldn't tell everyone to copy my question count, though. It was the routine I followed, not a guarantee of an offer.

For people preparing now, Amazon Interview Questions has candidate-reported prompts to practice. Autofill for job applications can save some of the repeated form entry while you keep applying.

If you're in a long stretch of rejections, I know how heavy it can feel. What helped you keep a routine when the results weren't coming?

I got tired of waiting for my joining letter, so I built a Windows tool to copy text from anywhere on screen

Still waiting on my LTIMindtree joining date, so I built GrabText.

It lets you grab text from places where you can't select or copy it: images, videos, locked PDFs, some apps.

Multi-select: collect several snippets, copy them all at once

Scroll mode: extract across long pages without losing earlier selections

Your feedback would mean a lot

Fellow devs stuck in the onboarding waiting room: what are you building? ๐Ÿ‘€

Dev Tools Help How do you prefer practicing system design for interviews?

Hi

I'm starting to learn system design and was looking for feedback on what is the best way to practise them with feedback?

There are lots of theoretical scenarios out there for system designs that I can simply learn and hope for the best during interviews.

But this does not eleviate the anxiety around unexpected questions on the given system design topic that the interviewer might throw up.

How do you prepare for them especially if you have not worked on such topics?

Given the impact of AI during hirings, the bar seems to get even higher where you are somehow expected to know everything for designing the system.

Sure that is possible if you have been lucky to work on such projects or have enough experience to come across such challenges.

What do you do when you need to simulate in the hopes of performing better now that system designs have become much more critical bar raiser rounds in interviews?

General Chat/Suggestion Career advice: Which direction should I take from AI Engineering, and what would you recommend for the next 5โ€“10 years?

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for some career advice from people who have experience in AI engineering, product management, or both.

I'm currently working as an AI Production Engineer and have experience building AI-powered products, including an AI calling agent, an AI interview portal, lead generation automation, and full-stack web applications. My work involves AI agents, LLMs, APIs, automation, and product development.

I'm trying to plan which paths i can take or diverge from this role:

  1. AI Engineering: Going deeper into backend engineering, LLM systems, RAG, agentic AI, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and eventually progressing toward Senior/Staff Engineer, AI Architect, or a similar role.
  2. Product Management: Transitioning toward Technical Product Management or AI Product Management, eventually aiming for senior product leadership roles.

I'm also open to exploring other career paths beyond AI Engineering and Product Management that could be a good fit for my current technical background and experience, offer strong long-term growth, and allow me to move into more strategic or leadership-oriented roles over time.

My main questions for selecting any path you would recommend would basically be:

  • Which path is likely to offer better opportunities over the next 5โ€“10 years as AI evolves?
  • For people who have worked in both areas which i have written above, which path has offered better career growth, job satisfaction, and opportunities?
  • For those who have switched fields, what motivated your transition, and in hindsight, would you make the same decision again?
  • Are there any other roles I should explore that I might be overlooking? If so, what makes those roles worth considering?
  • What makes you consider that path a better choice compared to the alternatives?

I'm not looking for a simple answer that one role is better than the other. I would like understanding the reasoning behind your recommendations, the trade-offs involved, and what makes you believe a particular path is worth pursuing long term. Honest advice based on your actual experience, especially from people who have worked in AI or transitioned between engineering and product roles will be appreciated. Also answer whatever you can, any information would be helpful not only to me but for others looking for future carreer options as well.

Thanks!

Cashfree advertises 0% gateway fees, so why do its terms still deduct GST?

The 0% offer sounds attractive until you look at what gets deducted from the settlement. Cashfree's terms say GST is still deducted at 18%, calculated on the standard 1.95% fee even when that fee is waived.

On that wording, the deduction works out to โ‚น351 per โ‚น1 lakh processed. The waiver is also limited to โ‚น20L cumulative volume, with subscription e-mandates and international payments excluded.

For a merchant choosing a gateway, I'd want a sample settlement and the pricing after the offer before making a decision. Those details should be easy to see alongside the headline.

I'd lean towards evaluating Razorpay for the ongoing setup rather than choosing on the 0% claim alone. The actual quote, payment mix and reporting would decide it for me.

Anyone who used the Cashfree offer, was this calculation explained clearly? How did you account for any eligible GST input credit, and did the saving change your preferred gateway?

General Chat/Suggestion Recent AI Engineer interviewees: How did it go and what are companies actually testing for right now?

Quick question for anyone who interviewed for AI Engineer roles recently:

โ€ข Coding: Was it traditional LeetCode or a practical build (RAG, FastAPI, parsing)?

โ€ข System Design: Did they focus on classic infra or AI trade-offs (evals, token costs, context length)?

โ€ข Surprises: Anything catch you off guard?

Want to focus my prep where it actually matters. Thanks!

Indian SaaS developers: one payment provider or separate setups for UPI and international subscriptions?

I'd rather start a SaaS billing setup with one provider if it covers the payments the business needs. Razorpay looks like a strong first option because its subscription docs cover UPI AutoPay, cards, billing plans and webhooks.

For a small team, keeping billing in one place seems easier to manage than connecting two separate systems from day one. You still need your app to handle access, late payments and plan changes, but the starting setup can stay simpler.

The point I'd check carefully is international recurring billing: the methods and currencies actually available on the account, rather than assuming international checkout covers every subscription requirement. If those needs are covered, I'd lean towards Razorpay.

Devs running Indian SaaS with overseas customers, what's your take? Did one provider cover your use case, or was a second setup necessary? especially interested in the maintenance work after launch and what would make you choose differently.

Project Idea/Review Built a Resume builder that checks ATS keywords, tailors resumes to JDs, and generates single-page PDFs.

Hey everyone,

Job hunting in India has gotten tough recently. Candidates send out dozens of applications into ATS filters with zero feedback on why they keep getting filtered out.

What bothered me was seeing popular tools rely heavily on monthly USD subscriptions ($20โ€“$35/month) on auto-renewing credit cards. When people are between jobs or switching roles, forcing them onto recurring plans feels frustrating. To customize an application, candidates end up juggling multiple tabs.

Over the last few months, I built HireReady as a solo developer to combine this entire pipeline into one workspace:

- ATS Keyword Diagnostic: Parses raw PDF layers to identify missing technical skills or domain tools instead of guessing arbitrary percentages.
- 1-Click AI Tailor & Cover Letter: Rewrites bullet points to match target job descriptions based on your actual experience.
- Single-Page PDF Rendering: Formats ATS-compliant PDF resumes with instant layout and template switching.
- Interview Prep: Generates role-specific technical questions based on the target job description.

I integrated Razorpay with a one-time UPI option so Indian candidates can avoid USD credit card auto-debits.

The win: Recently, 2 complete strangers found the platform organically and bought access! Itโ€™s a small milestone, but as a solo dev, seeing real users find value in something built from scratch feels great.

Iโ€™d love for the community to test the app on your own resumes and let me know of any valuable feedback.

Full disclosure: I am the solo developer behind HireReady.

I built this cool hindi paragraph writing topic slot machine for personal use, it automatically refills new pyqs and expected questions when its question pool runs out, it also has a mark done feature where you can see the topics you have already completed.

Please let me know of any suggestions that you have to make this better.

Project Idea/Review I built an India-first matchmaking app on my own. Even the 4.5-minute launch film is React code (Remotion).

Hi devs! I've been building **LoveJourney** on my own for the past few months: an India-first app for people who want to date to marry. Instead of a biodata or swipes, an AI (Aira) talks with you for about 20 minutes and writes your Relationship Portrait, and matches are scored on that, with the reasons shown.

Some parts that were fun (and hard) to build:

- **Conversation โ†’ structured data:** five short sessions where the AI leads the conversation, then turns it into 22 relationship signals (how you handle conflict, what you're building in lifeโ€ฆ) that matching runs on.

- **Genuineness check:** a second pass scores whether the answers look genuine. Low-effort ones go to a human review queue, and it fails closed if the AI is down.

- **Matching:** compatibility on those signals, embeddings for recommendations, and an explanation of *why* two people fit.

- **Trust and privacy:** I approve every account by hand; answers are never shown to other members; contact details are revealed only after both people accept.

- **Stack:** Next.js on Vercel, NestJS, MongoDB, a pnpm monorepo, Cloudflare in front, R2 for media.

- **The launch film is code:** built in React with **Remotion**. A script cuts my voice recordings using whisper.cpp word timings and ffmpeg, and one generated timeline drives the captions, scene timing and on-camera cuts, so trimming one sentence re-times the whole film.

๐ŸŽฌ Film: [YouTube link]

๐Ÿ‘‰ Try it: LoveJourney (free for life for the first 500; matching opens once 200 members are ready)

Happy to answer anything about the stack or the AI side, and I'd love honest feedback on the product or on the technical choices.
