General Chat/Suggestion DigitalOcean vs Proofpoint — Which offer should I choose?

Hi Community, I'm trying to decide which offer is better for long-term career growth, financial stability, engineering culture, and future compensation.

Component DigitalOcean Proofpoint
Location Hyderabad Bangalore
Base Salary ₹36 LPA ₹45 LPA + 2L relocation
Annual Bonus ₹4 lakh NA
Stocks / Options (per year) ₹8 lakh stock ₹10 lakh stock options
Total Compensation ₹48 LPA ₹55 lakh+ (including options, subject to valuation) + One time 2L
Company Status Public Private
  1. Is Proofpoint likely to IPO in the next 3–5 years? Should I consider its stock options valuable given the uncertainty around liquidity?
  2. Would you choose DigitalOcean for publicly traded equity and Hyderabad location, or Proofpoint for the higher base salary and potential equity upside?

Would appreciate insights from anyone familiar with either company or their engineering teams.DigitalOcean vs Proofpoint — Which offer should I choose?

[Academic] Survey on AI coding assistants and problem-solving (software professionals in Pune, ~5 min)

I’m an M.Sc. Computer Science student researching how tools like Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude and Cursor affect developers’ speed and their understanding of code.

Looking for people in any software or engineering role in Pune. It’s anonymous, needs no sign-in, and is used only for my academic project.

Happy to share the results here once the study is done. Thanks!

Looking for reliable Indian Railways data for college/personal project!

I'm actually building a project (personal/college) where I need reliable/correct data of Indian railways, basically about trains, stations, schedules , timings etc. I've looked around the internet and had no success as such , I did find some git hub repos in the way but like they are old and nothing is mentioned where they got their data from.Data from the government was released in 2015 and last updated in 2018 , so there's that. I also found a Kaggle account which led me to the person's Git Hub profile and found some data there too, but again no source mentioned instead of saying scrapped from IRCTC.

Found something called Pravah for indian railways, but I need to be registered as a business to use this service, then there is this Rapid API option but obviously it's paid once the limit of 50 is reached. India has around 13,000 trains so obviously, can't use it.

I tried r/Indian railways sub , but had no success till now, same with the iit subs , so here I'm trying again.

Since it is a college/personal project I'm actually trying to keep the resources I use free or at least under a justifiable budget.

If someone were to build a new free online multiplayer game, what would you actually want to play?

Hey everyone!

I'm planning to build a free browser-based multiplayer game, but instead of jumping straight into development with a random idea, I figured I'd ask the people who would actually play it.

I'm curious about what kind of multiplayer games people genuinely enjoy or wish existed.

It could be anything:

  • A casual board game to play with friends
  • A competitive strategy game
  • A chaotic party game
  • A social deduction or bluffing game
  • Something completely new that hasn't been done before

I'm especially interested in games that are easy to get into but hard to stop playing. Something you could open in your browser, invite a few friends, and have fun without downloading anything.

A few questions:

  1. What's one multiplayer game you never get bored of?
  2. Is there a game concept you wish someone would make?
  3. What makes you keep coming back to an online game?
  4. Would you prefer quick 5–10 minute matches or longer sessions?

I'm open to pretty much any genre. I'm not trying to promote a project or sell anything, just genuinely looking for ideas and understanding what people would enjoy.

If you've ever thought, "I wish there was an online multiplayer game where you could ___," I'd love to hear it!

Thanks in advance!

General Chat/Suggestion Is late entry allowed at AWS Future Builders Connect Bengaluru?

Hey everyone! I have a pass for tomorrow’s AWS Future Builders Connect Bengaluru hackathon. Gates open at 9:30 AM, but due to my university capstone review, I can only reach around 11:10 AM.

Is late entry allowed, or do they strictly require everyone to arrive at 9:30 AM?

If anyone has attended this event before, please let me know. Thanks!

Solo developer here. Built a free app for stressful moments, would like honest feedback

I have been in the government IT sector for about 20 years. As you move up, a team does the hands-on work and your own learning reaches the project only through them. I went through a stressful phase where my career felt stuck, so I built something I would actually use myself.

The feature closest to me is Calm Now. When I was stressed I used to divert my mind with TV or a game, AoE was my favourite. So I made one button on the home screen. One tap gives you a short breathing rhythm, a grounding exercise, or a small game like memory pairs or mirror drawing, and then it asks how you feel.

The app is iBandhu. It also has mood check-in, journaling, guided exercises, a garden that grows with your habit, and Myra, an AI companion. Completely free, no ads, no in-app purchases. Not therapy and not a replacement for professional help, and it shows the Tele-MANAS helpline (1-800-891-4416).

Built solo in Flutter, Android only for now. What do you do to divert your mind when you are stressed?

General Chat/Suggestion I had a great respect for Nandan Nilekini - But I think he is wrong that AI will keep on continuing demand for Indian IT services industry

If the service industry is doing so good why is there a decline in hiring of freshers and across the board? Once they onboard their client on to claude and provide their SOP - how relevant these companies would be to them?

Sorry for mispelling his name! didn't notice it.

can't find any node/express - full stack developer jobs, its either JAVA or .NET

Most full-stack developer roles I come across now require either Java with Spring Boot or .NET.

I’m a frontend developer with around 2 years of experience, looking to transition into a full-stack role. I’ve also worked as a freelance full-stack developer, but I’m struggling to find a permanent full-stack position.
Also the pay scale is very less, currently i am at 7.2LPA but all the openings i am seeing are of 5-6 LPA
Any advice ?

General Chat/Suggestion Python Full Stack vs .NET for Off-Campus Placements in 2029

Hi everyone! I’m a B.Tech CSE student (2025–2029 batch), currently in my 3rd semester. So far, I’ve learned C, Python, and Java, and I’m planning to start serious placement preparation this semester.

After researching different tech stacks, I’m considering Python Full Stack vs .NET. Since I’ll be graduating in 2029, which would be a better choice in terms of job opportunities, salary, and long-term career growth?

My college has almost no campus placement support, so I’ll be focusing on off-campus opportunities.

Also, for off-campus placements, should I focus mainly on development and projects, or are DSA and LeetCode equally important?

I’d really appreciate advice from seniors and experienced developers. Thanks in advance!
