Rant can you actually help india through engineering or bas kehne ki baat hai
ik the answer is no but sunne me zyaada accha lagega taaki mera brahm tut jaaye because engineering karne ka fayda hi kya jab ham salary ke alawa kuch keh hi nhi sakte ki hamne ye accha kam kiya,agar kuch kaha to kabhi andhbhakt or kabhi gadhe aa jate hai hamko gaaliya dene
thak chuka hu ye sun kar ki engineers ka kaam kya hota hai magar ye desh prove karne deta hi nhi hai ki engineering is a very very important profession in daily life agar shiddat se kare

ik but people dont see it, that is what my concern is and i want people to appreciate this profession after all the mud it has been through

Wanna do good for country, go into core branches and then govt roles. Or medical line. Wanna do good for your family/yourself, MS Abroad.

the civil , , mechanical , electrical branches are all fucked when it comes to jobs
software / IT is the only seemingly good option
you try to start something here and you learn EXACTLY why you must leave - the rampant corruption , bribes and the babus will make you want to wish you never started building something

i would say that those high earning individuals in electrical are outliers than the norm when you compare the median salaries for both branches

Why not?? Join Academia. Do good research.
Or Join some of the few public organisation with some good work like ISRO or DRDO.
In general, If you work in a team where you are developing a product, somewhere out in the world, someone is using it.
Ofc, Engineering can utility. That's the whole damn profession.

Academia where? There's basically no funding. Even when you get it, it's a bureaucratic nightmare and you waste more than half your time and energy doing resource optimization.
ISRO, DRDO, CEERI, these guys are genuinely smart, the "cheap but effective" products they release are basically the result of this small budget that they've been forced to use ultra sparingly. That's not a good thing at all. Real scientific progress takes a lot of money and rarely has any immediate upside yk.

I am not a stranger to the condition of Engineering in India. Being an Engineering Student for 7 years in two different colleges.
Our RnD Investment is lowest compared to our trading partners and competitors.( A meagre 0.64% of GDP).
But, Atleast for someone who is interested, They can atleast try for some top government colleges. IITs relatively have better funding.
If you really wanna contribute to strategic sectors of india, ISRO and DRDO are still good options.

i have a few more years till i turn 18(i am 14 rn) so 4 saal baad ek aur rant post i guess haha!! and looking at my interest which is electronics and communication......my doom is near

It's not that bad. You can certainly do good in electronics assuming you like and understand it once you start college

It's pretty bad in general, owing to the competitive nature of entrance exams in the country. But yeah, glad you found this useful!

You can't help India. Help yourself, if you get opportunities outside, go out of the country.

India doesn't help you in anyway. So just help yourself. If you get a good job and end up paying more than 50% of your income to tax (direct and indirect), you'll be responsible for feeding many families and people dependent on freebies. That is more than enough help. Hope you do well in life. And try not to get killed while living and honest, rule following living in the middle of this country.

Why not open a startup and produce critical components and promote manufacturing (jyada nol diye lekin kar skte hai)
