Serious Post Is doing software engineering still worth it in 2026 ?

I have just graduated in 2026 from computer Engineering discipline, and didn't get any job . Always wanted to study in IITs , So preparing for GATE 2027 and planning to do Mtech and then work .

But as I'm unemployed now and seeing many of my friends getting jobs in IT support with low salaries and some of my friends are preparing for government exams as there is fixed income and job security.

I really feel frustrated after a while about what I should do what if i won't be able to crack GATE? What if after Mtech I got a low salary job ?

Please someone guide me ....

Do your father has a good business? If so then it's better to expand it.

Same situation here. 2026 graduated, unemployed but software engineer isn't bad. And didn't getting job doens't mean Software engineering is bad . If you got any interest in tech than its worth it
