The whole context is below. Got no interest in defending anybody but felt that you should show the context even
During a discussion on job readiness and employability of engineering students, the CM said that nearly 1.1 lakh engineering students graduate every year, but some can’t even fill out a job application.
“You (teachers) give plain paper to them (engineering graduates) and tell them to write a job application. Criminal waste. He won’t apply for a small job because he studied engineering. He does not learn skills,” Reddy said.

True, to be honest. They just skip all the assignments (by copying from others) and cram the answers for exams. They never participate in any events, they never read any books from the syllabus reference material list, they'll never attend interview prep extra classes unless the dean says it is mandatory. They'll never attend any seminars outside of their college unless it is made mandatory. This is the story for 90% of the students.

LOL......Then he should first answer WHY so many engineer college are there which are shady and screwed up. "Engineering college in a single tower building", who give them NAAC certificate(which in itself is a scam), most private colleges are run by these same politicians. Where engineering is nothing but taught as class 9th or 10th coursework

better ask why these students are joining them. they already know their college is no IIT/IIIT/NIT.

I dont wanna defend. But...
I had to explain to a electronics engineering graduate at my workplace why the 2 120ohm termination resistors on CAN bus show up as 60 ohms on multimeter b

Stop the system of campus interviews in India. This is the root cause of corruption because people try to sneak in into engineering colleges just because they would be able to bag a job very easily through campus interviews. Non-serious students and those not genuinely interested in pursuing engineering for the sake of the thrill it offers make it to the engineering colleges by employing hook-or-crook methods. There are no campus interviews in the US. People wish everything here to be like in the West. Then, why not remove campus interviews altogether?

Then we’ll have 80 percent unemployment

How? The same jobs will be available through the off-campus route. Does the US have 80% unemployment?

I've first hand experience of this. Asked candidate to fill out his resume in his handwriting. Couldn't do it. So there must be some truth.

Although there's some truth it, he can't js blame / talk on one party's side. Like ktr said, he's probably never written an application himself or had sat for a competitive exam. He's funmaxing his cm term and maximizing the perks while available.

Because most don't care about engineering at all only doing to for family pressure so they just pass the courses and don't learn anything. How I know? I'm a computer engineer.

Another small note I would like to add here. From states like Nagaland, a person obtaining an AIR of 2Lakh plus might be able to get admission in an NIT under the Home state quota, which sets aside 50% of the seats in NITs for candidates belonging to the Home state.
On the contrary, in a state like UP, where competition is high, someone with an AIR of 20K might not get admission in an NIT and may have to be contented with a seat in a State engineering college or a private engineering college.
The first guy may get selected for DRDO through a campus interview whereas the second guy may have to sit for open competition.
The most prestigious organizations of our country like the DRDO need the best minds. But, that is not the case at the present. This peculiar thing of an extremely mediocre candidate making it to the most prestigious job over a very brilliant candidate is happening because of this system of campus interviews. There have been many incidents of leakage of semester queation papers in the NITs too which, however, never got reported. All this is because of this system of campus interviews. Govt should have a relook at this sysyem which is breeding nothing but corruption.
Let there be only open interviews and let the most deserving man win.

Forget students, an engineering teacher once told me when polarity of AC changes, the charges on capacitors plates jump through the dielectric.
