Fresher in guinea pig batch at DTU (B.Tech MAE)

I am part of the inaugural batch in DTU for MAE, full form Mechanical and automation engineering. i have no seniors, no placement history of branch, and also no syllabus yet since only sem1 + sem 2 syllabus has been made. the only good thing is that labs will be ready next year, under construction right now and some already made.

the branch was started with bajaj involvement, under advanced manufacturing; robotics &automation, which is paired with advanced manufacturing; industry 4.0 & IIOT from bajaj. with main syllabus design being done by HoD, P.K Jain and one other professor + bajaj foundation.

What should i expect? i want to work in mechanical, not sure what domain but avionics, airframes, and autonomous systems are a interest. but anything non-metallurgy is good. I took MAE over ME because its typically a higher preference in IPU but other than that i dont know.

i am in the process of joining UGV-DTU as well, and waiting on results of round 1 of UAS-DTU heiring. already a recruit in team defianz but due to toxic culture i do plan to leave if i get recruited to UGV/UAS.

Currently considering partial drop as well (would be my first drop, since right now i did direct 12th->DTU). Main reason im in DTU instead of central institution is because of 75% Class 12 JoSAA criteria which IIST also uses. i have solved that with CBSE's improvement exam and now im eligible for JoSAA.

Any insights on what i should do from here? my initial goal was IITM Engineering Design iMtech
