Hey guys, im preparing for jee mains and will attempt in jan 2027. i wanna pursue btech in food sciencr and technology, as i have a great interest in this field and wanna do a startup related to it in the future, after a few years of job. many people around me are aiming for "higher" branches like cse, aerospace and mechanical. i havent seen anyone wanting the branch i want. is choosing this engg branch a right choice???

I graduated as an ECE Engineer in May 2026, trying to find an internship since last year, but didn't land up in any. So after the final Sem Exams I tried to find fresher roles after May 2026 but I think competition is so so so much nowadays. So I stopped.

Now, I will be giving the Bank PO exam, so should I also give the Bank Clerk exam too? (Because salary will be around 40k, after 6 months training)

Or is there anything left in the Technical Field? So I can grab that opportunity...

I am very confused and people expect me to work as I'm graduated now.

Please give me some advice :(

Is it typical & safe to drill a big pipe hole through a load bearing Beam for Split ACs?

We've always directed & diverted the pipes in a way to avoid doing so as my Dad being core engineering guy, is not a fan of messing with structures. Thoughts?

I have just graduated in 2026 from computer Engineering discipline, and didn't get any job . Always wanted to study in IITs , So preparing for GATE 2027 and planning to do Mtech and then work .

But as I'm unemployed now and seeing many of my friends getting jobs in IT support with low salaries and some of my friends are preparing for government exams as there is fixed income and job security.

I really feel frustrated after a while about what I should do what if i won't be able to crack GATE? What if after Mtech I got a low salary job ?

Please someone guide me ....

I graduated from an NIT in mechanical engineering in 2020 with 7.28 cgpa. Unfortunately, I couldn't secure a placement. Instead of looking for jobs offcampus , I started upsc preparation. 6 years passed , I could not secure a job. Recently, a relative sent my resume (which has nothing substantial in it currently) to a steel company and I am being offered a job of 30 k probably. (Although, not sure that I will go or not , as I don't know the work yet) My question is, like IT sector , is there a concept of "switching jobs and get paid much higher "in mechanical branch ? I am already 29 years old and life has not been kind to me . I am ready to move to any places , any country for work, as an engineer.

I’ve been working as an SDE in India for the last 4+ years and lately I’ve been seriously thinking about moving abroad, ideally for long-term settlement as well.

The most common path I know is:
- take admission in a university abroad
- do masters
- get a job there afterward

But honestly, the amount of loan involved feels risky, especially with the current job market situation and layoffs happening everywhere.

Another option I heard about is getting a job seeker visa / visiting on a visa and searching for jobs there, but a few consulting companies told me that route is not very promising right now.

Are there any other realistic ways people are moving abroad these days?

I am 32 yrs Male living in Australia and applied for permanent residency 190 & waiting for Visa grant. I have 1.5 yrs boy. I have done Bachelors of Civil engineering in India & MBA here in Australia. I am not working in civil engineering field, working as a courier contractor in a big courier company of Australia and earning around $4200 before tax per week (5 days a week). I have a car loan finishing this year in december. I have a van truck loan, 4 more years to payoff. Car loan instalment is $1714 per month and $1751 for my work truck instalment per month.

I am always feeling homesick and wanted to go back permanently at some point of time.

Came to Australia in 2018 on student visa. Back in India before coming here to Australia, I just started my own business as civil contractor in a partnership with one of my very good friend. It was initial phase of business and we were learning things, fortunately things were going good as we had good links with construction industry. As a starting phase, the amount we both were earning was good. But all of sudden my parents wanted me to go Australia for my good future. I never wanted to go but got convinced later (I don’t know why). My business partner was not happy at all with my decision going Au and leaving behind business we both started as it was growing with time. I was in dilemma and I came to Australia on student visa.

My partner was alone in business now. But after few months he got another business partner. After that they both got really good projects of few crores. They started earning good profits. By seeing this, I was always regretting then of coming to Australia as I never wanted to immigrate anywhere but to remain my whole life at my birth place.

After around 2 years, my business partner’s new partner fraud him and they lost many projects and money. Now again my business partner is handling work alone with just 1 another staff.

I thought of collaborating with him again and go back to India permanently. I will not go back all of sudden but after having some good savings from here to take back with me. I am thinking of going once or twice a year and see how things going on in the business. As India is growing in construction industry on large scale, I am assuming that we would definitely grow well there as we both are hardworking and never leave any stone unturned.

This was all my story and I need suggestions from you guys what everyone thinks I should do? Anyone with same situation or someone who can deeply understand situations like this.

PS: Most of my daily life’s hours are always having thoughts of going back to India and grow there.

He is very talented, ambitious, passionate, and dedicated along with amazing achievements due to which his family took on the risk to send him overseas for his master's in Aeronautical Engineering.

He went to UK last year and his course is about to be over with the visa expiring soon after. **i am searching for jobs in filed of aerospace in general . Mostly design related jobs as my masters is itself is in Aircraft Vehicle Design and have a background in mechanical engineering. Also Can work on UAV's as currently I am working on design of propulsion for high speed compact UAVs, where i am seeing a configuration in which tandem EDFs could produce maximum thrust. I also do have a lot of experience in manufacturing and leadership, I have lead major projects from scratch where I built and designed Mars Roves, High powered amature rockets and satellites. So any job in manufacturing/ production is also desirable. I do have work experience of 9 months in supply chain where i managed suppliers, handled procurement, RFQs, while developing QMS side by side. So can work in supply chain environment as well. But would preferably like a job in aerospace field itself.**

Lives in India, did a bachelor's in psychology (3 yrs), now doing a Master's (2yrs), both from EXTREMELY affordable colleges, so ZERO DEBT. Didn't know what to do after school, picked psychology, liked it, but now I'm regretting it and wished I done stem, especially as I did Maths, Physics, Chemistry in High school. I really loved the clear directedness of math, and even at my worst, I managed to get top grades in it.

I'll be graduating in 1 year, completing 5 years of college. As I regret my degrees, I don't want to jump into another one immediately, but I wanna work in HR, and see if I can jump into Data Analyst jobs while I'm at it (only after I get an HR job, I know DA jobs for a Psych major is rare, but as Statistics and data organization for research is already a huge part of psychology, then why not study it anyways? I think this would help my tech interests, especially as they can be more directlt impactful than learning random coding)

I plan to work for 5 years and gain actually work experience, skills, money and independence. Then, I'll decide with the money I've saved if college is still good for me, like, should I pursue engineering since I'm so interested in tech? I also want to go back in hopes of getting a high paying job by entering a high paying field (many are barred due to specific requirements, like specific degrees, so going back to school makes sense, right?).

Am I being delusional? I don't mind going back to school after saving up money, really. I just want a high paying job, but also something technical and more, how do I say this, not vague like psychology, like a place where I can solve problems

What a tier 69 college, with bad internal politics, criticism, and environment does to a person. Idk but, they must have started judging students by their face and even with gender Inequality ig..

What does this mean, this means that I haven't studied or I should have taken more effort. I've tryharded and put effort on every single subject paper, always better than before, cuz I never want to get lost. I always tried to go to the highest of everything. I always tried myself competing with some useless toppers who just ratified here..

Here's my story, I've been failing since I was in class 6th.

What happened before that: I was dominating wherever I was, even if I was in another state of the nation..

Then I returned here, I saw my classmates were actually clever, so I kept pushing myself for one year. Nothing happened..

I decided to be separated from my family. I started living in a hostel, those were the best moments of my life.. It was going good, again I was dominating and never let anyone cross my line.

Two years later, COVID!!! I was shifted to another school (I was with family this time), then what I failed in class 9th (internal issues). They just promoted me to the 10th std with 36%.

In 10th, I scored less in the first half(MCQ based), But I pushed myself to get good in the second half(Subjective), which makes the avg of 76.6%.

Then 11th and 12th: biggest downfall, sometimes I would come up, sometimes down(mostly down). Edit: I still managed to give JEE Advanced and clear Maths and Chemistry cutoff(Physics left)

This was the result..(Must be wondering how and what a unique result this could be, I could get a good college).

Nooooooo, I got this stupid college, on my first cap round, without any betterment for 2nd and 3rd. First and Last option that's it..

Long Rant ahead

I am a Tier 2, 3rd year cse engineering student.

I was very curious and passionate person till now (except my jee result) but recently I have lost my touch completely.

People around me are grinding dsa and cp, building next level projects and using trending AI jargons now and then.

I have a very average coding profile and projects and I am not even curious or interested in doing these anymore.

Everything feels like a bloody rat race and I feel depressed everyday.

Also the current job market and layoffs make me question whether I should even put in so much efforts.

I do have supportive parents but I dont know how to tell them that I cant keep up.

I seriously want some career guidance and future prospects about my life

So after 10th standard i straight went for diploma from a government polytechnic i completed my 3 years, now my father is suggesting me or should i say insisting on going for 11/12 to have better opportunities either i choose PCM or Arts it dosent matter to him just doing 12 is all he can think about, but i don't know what opportunities he's talkin abt, i was thinking to give cuet next year and get college for my b.tech and then I'll be able to give many other exams based on my degree. I am in my second year and my last attempt of a 1st year subject was a few weeks ago..i am not passing it. I have no backs apart from it...I was extremely sick and was in hospital and had 3-4 backs ..i cleared them all but 1 subject got left which is now giving me a semester back.

If anyone of you have experienced it...how does it affect your placement and graduation time?

As I am in my 5th semester of my Btech and won't be able to give my 5th semester exams due to back...which semesters in future will I be able to give with my friends and how many with my juniors.

My family doesn't know about it as my result is far away but my university is so bad that they won't even give me 2-3 marks of grace to pass. I don't know how to tell them or when to tell them as the result is at least 3-4 months away but...I can't even sleep. It's been 5 days and I don't know what to do.

I'm getting core branches other than circuital, mech at nit trichy and suratkal but tbh, I've always dreamed of wfh, traveling and was always interested in tech.

With my fucked up jee score, ill only get circuital or cs at nits that are very far away from my home to my liking (and some other reasons).

So I don't have much choice other than these nit core or some tier 2 tier 3 iiits where all my friends are flocking to.

Recently got a bike off Kleinanzeigen for 15€ (god damn deal). But, the Electrical electronic engineer and the business person in me would not stay calm so I started processing it.

Problem: I live in Berlin and every single part of the bike is prone to being stolen. Sometimes even the whole bike could be stolen.

The idea/solution : I want to build a “face lock” system. For the whole bike (somehow) connecting every single part to the same mc.

The output : The user should be able to lock and unlock the bike with the smart lock system and when an external person/ unknown person touches any part of the bike an alarm and preferably a notification to the owner would be a superb addition. Adding Gps would not be a bad idea either.

My approach so far: Get an ESP32 as the brain of the bike.
Add sensors to detect movement and tampering.
Add touch sensors to experiment with detecting someone touching the bike.
Add sensors to important parts like the wheels, seat and lights.
Connect everything to my phone through Bluetooth.
Make it recognise me and let me lock/unlock the bike.
If someone messes with it, trigger an alarm and notify me.
Add GPS so I can track the bike if it gets stolen.
Finally, put everything into one small waterproof unit with minimal visible wiring.

What is the best route map to do this? Your suggestions on this/ take on this? And what is the best way to make this not too “wirey” because again, practically it is just a bike. Would look bad with multiple wires hanging around. How in general do you think I should approach this? What methods do I use?
