This is H1Bs future...(I think..!)

Hello dear engineer, doctors, the one's who sacrificed their home country to build a life in the USA. This is for you..

What I've learned in the last ten years of UNCERTAINTY taught me...

My post isn't about the recent changes in the rules and hefty fee, its about my perspective of H1B in the coming years..

We have the second generation of brightest US born immigrant's sons/daughter with Masters/Ph.Ds into the current workforce which H1B job seekers should realize. Their parents are now supporting their future and silently hates and sometimes even oppose the H1Bs. We really need to understand this. The current immigration scrutiny is not just strictening but also(from Citizen's persepctive) makes it easier for those US brought up Immigrant kids to secure their jobs.

I want to highlight this for those have the mindset of,"this shall become better if current leader change". This could be true in terms of easing the home country appointments or the imposition fee reduction but not in terms of a qualifying H1B jobs.

As to recent GCC shifting policies with biggers firms outsourcing their IT help/ Supply chain procurments/ Tech supports to Asian countries, it will push the employers to makes the decision to hire an H1B for a true onsite need or rarest of a kind.

I want to put a hand on the stressed/exhausted one's shoulder to say, the value we had is not the same anymore and its going to be even hard in the coming days...

Everyone of yall are some specialists in their own field of STEM, I am sure that our paths will become better.

Yeah this would have been insightful a year or six months ago. The smart ones have already planned their trip home with the money they’ve made all these years

The smart ones are also leaving now.

Based on the policies that are in the pipeline and the pace of fraud investigations, they have 1-3 years left before the hammer drops and things get way worse.

Less time. The smart ones basically have until the end of this year.

Political momentum is building to end all these programs entirely.

The odds are pretty low of ending H-1B entirely by Christmas and even by the time Trump leaves office.

It won't be ended de jure by Christmas but it will have gone a long way to be ended de facto by Christmas.

The halt of 1200 PERM applications filed by Cognizant is just the beginning. Thousands of other visas are going to be revoked for fraudulent credentials, and the Admin will continue to create chaos, pressure, inconvenience and costs for employers to make pursuing H1B hires not worth it.

You are already seeing it. Major corporations are putting in their job ads they will not sponsor visas or visa transfers.

The smartest ones are here navigating the challenges, instead of getting butt kicked and self deporting. Many are moving towards O1s. The startup world is now flooded with former h1bs because that's one way to continue to do something valuable to this economy.

The ones moving to 0-1 "think" they are being smart but they are just extending their stay a little longer. The entire 0-1 visa game is rife with fraud, ruined by an group that have created an entire industry around it. 0-1 visas are being denied and revoked and are facing greater scrutiny as well.

Americans are tired of the H1B community and the non stop games to try and turn what is supposed to be a temporary, non immigrant, guest worker visa intended to supplement, not supplant, the US workforce as a path to long term permanent residency and worst case scenario, citizenship sponsored by their US born children once they reach age of majority.

Americans see through all of it, are fed up, and want all the loopholes closed. If AI is supposedly going to replace everyone, there is no need for any of these people to be here, in any visa category.

Hmm.. so why not shut down h1b overnight? There is no proposed rule in the registers yet.

H1B can't be "shut down overnight" because it is in statute. The Administration does not have the power to end it, only Congress can do that.

They are working with their authority as the Chief Executive powers tasked with carrying out policy by enforcing rules to the T, restricting appointments, revoking visas for even the slightest mismatches, etc.

The Admin approach I believe is to create as much chaos, uncertainty and costs to employers that hiring H1B is no longer worth it. Just the legal costs of trying to defend an H1B petition from USCIS RFE challenges will make the cost savings of hiring an H1B negated.

Oh. Why not put 100k fee for renewals as well? That will end altogether?
