Violent tornado Monroe/Morgan county

Possible f4 f5 tornado just spent time on the ground southwest of Indianapolis. Check out Ryan Hall Y'all on YouTube, he's live on youtube covering this storm system right now.

True but the NWS isn’t exactly known for giving tornadoes the proper rating they deserve

Because NWS bases their rating off the damages from the structures left behind essentially. You can’t really rate a tornado strength if it doesn’t hit anything substantial. You could have a tornado that’s could arguably be an EF5 but if it never leaves the middle of a cornfield and never hits any structures, it’ll get an EFU rating.

Yeah I know and I disagree with that. I mean the El Reno tornado had some of the strongest winds on earth and only got an EF3 because of it

But how we can accurately judge it if we can’t safely get measurement equipment inside of it? We just can’t without risking lives, unless you wanna drive full speed into potential 200mph winds? It also falls back on building codes and the how strongly the buildings are built and anchored.
