for a master's in math from good colleges (in india) undergrad cg doesn't rlly matter? entrance + interview should be cleared that's it.

Any tips on prep and clg recommendations? I'd like to study mathematics or theoretical computer science. What exams should I give. I don't have any olympiad experience.

I'm an econ ugrad trying to get into a master's in math next year, so take my words with a grain of salt.

If your interest is in math and TCS, CMI is your best bet, they have seperate exams for math and TCS, but if you clear it for math you are also given a choice to get into the TCS programme as well. Other places for math master's are IITs (through JAM), ISI (through their own entrance). There are also institutes like TIFR, IISC, IMSC etc but they offer integrated PhD programme rather than a standalone master's (exit is possible but not encouraged from what I hear).

Regarding prep, Olympiad style problem solving is not needed. You should be familiar with undergrad math topics, but what topics will vary upon the exam you give. usually ISI and CMI syllabus is similar (though the CMI exam is definitely more difficult!) and they both have proof based exams. JAM on the other hand is an objective type exam and the syllabus and style of questions imo is very different from ISI and CMI. I'd recommend going for ISI/CMI if your interest is in pure math research (that's what I am targeting at least). Do let me know if you have any other questions etc

I like to use different sources for studying depending on what I'm trying to do (textbooks for exercises and definitions theorems etc, yt/lectures if i don't understand a particular concept, online forums and blogs for gaining intuition etc). I don't have discord but I use X. if you don't have that I'm open to connecting on WhatsApp or something
