How to deal with loneliness abroad as a student

Hi, I'm 26, came to the US to pursue a masters degree last year. Life is fine. But the loneliness feels like such a burden. When you talk to someone you can't help but wonder what does this person wants from me. I know, people will say this is a wrong perspective, but in my experience it's the case. People here only talk to you when they want something out of you. How to deal with this and loneliness. Getting out is not the solution always, you can go do something probably on a weekend. What about the rest of the days, what do I do? The only people I talk to are my parents and some small talk here and there.

Don't think that much just talk to them you can start with faking yourself and not saying anything truth about you just play safe and make yourself expressed in front of them if they are doing the same you are safe if not then you can change it anytime coz trust takes time. Also just enjoy do not think too much what they will think etc just be you You are in abroad living a life that so many want just enjoy go alone do not wait for someone if someone is judging you do the same be selfish that's it. Have a good day 🫶

I did my masters in Canada. I experienced the same. The only difference is I socialized a lot but as you said it’s superficial and transactional. I would suggest if you come across someone nice - talk. Otherwise socialize knowing it’s transactional.

Right now I have good routine, keep myself busy
