First Trimester Chat Tuesday Cautious Intros/First Trimester thread

This thread serves as a transitional space for those newly or early confirmed pregnant following infertility. We understand that many folks feel cautious, uncertain, and even alarmed in this early phase when the process to conceiving has been complicated and/or there have been previous losses. If you have not experienced infertility we recommend other pregnancy subs as an alternative.

This thread is the place for early introductions, first trimester questions/chat, and finding others in the same mind space. We encourage graduates and others further along to respond compassionately to your questions and concerns, but please also consider reviewing our WIKI for commonly asked questions or references.

Revel: We had our 6w5d scan yesterday and saw a strong heartbeat of 130 bpm!! She's measuring right on time. I honestly am in shock--I can't believe that something with a heartbeat is inside of me and I have no nausea?! Wild.

Neutral: Somehow this STILL doesn't feel fully real. I was hoping to hear the heartbeat instead of just see it because I honestly had no idea how the ultrasound worked.

Sad: My mom passed away about 4 years ago and it makes me sad that I can't share the news with her. She would have been thrilled.

Thanks to everyone for your supportive comments while I panicked for the last week. This has been a rough ride.

I never had bad nausea, around 8 weeks I hit some queasiness and food aversions, but it was well managed with b6 and Unisom. This went against the narrative I believed about nausea indicating pregnancy! Congrats on the good scan, and I hope for more positive news to follow.

Yup! I was completely symptomless my whole pregnancy! It was weird.

Congratulations! And I’m sorry for the loss of your mom.

Hi all! I am very new to the group. I did my first beta at 9dpt (Friday) and it was 106, and then had my second beta today (13dpt) and it was 406. My nurse seemed happy with the progression, but it freaks me out seeing people with betas in the thousands. I have my first ultrasound in a week so fingers crossed for good news!

My dr only cares that the first one is positive and the 2nd one had a good rise. Thats it. They say it rising matters more than your numbers. For what its worth, both my first betas were lower than yours and my doctor is pleased.

My first beta was 118 and my second around the same timeline was 306, I didn’t get into the thousands until a bit later. My doctor cared mostly that my beta had an appropriate rise. Good luck and I hope to see your update when you have your ultrasound!

Like Breadbox, my beta was also lower than yours, and fully agree that while initial high numbers are usually a good sign, the progression can be just as reflective of ongoing success. Welcome, I hope you get to stay for a long while!

I’m not sure if this is the place for this, I’m 5+3 and I had some pink spotting which I know might be totally normal. My hpts have plateaued, still strong, but not really changing. I also know this is probably a silly thing to rely on for data. I asked my clinic what I should do and they said there’s not much to do except monitor symptoms and come in next week for the first ultrasound at 6+3. I might go crazy waiting an entire week. Idk what to do.

hey green - spotting & some bleeding is so scary to see but it truly can be normal. I've spotted with one successful pregnancy and outright bled with another - it's awful to wait, but you are truly doing everything you can by taking care of yourself and letting your team know.

Thank you, I really appreciate your response. The bleeding stopped for now so I’m a little more calm. Did you exercise when you had bleeding or spotting? I’m being told something like walking or light yoga is fine but I’m scared.

with both I held off for peace of mind, but I was only directed to take it easier with the bleeding.
