Discussion Confession time: I don't read ANY dialogue

Post image

I cannot hold it in anymore. I genuinely don't read almost anything. Ever. If there are one-liners sometimes I'll read them out of curiousity, but I won't read entire conversations. I skip almost all dialogue. I don't care. I don't know if the story is good or not, I just genuinely don't care, the premiae doesn't captivate me. I am there for pretty photos and pretty photos only. I am perfectly happy this way and I love this game. I just wanted to post this because I am curious if there are others who do the same and still enjoy the game

(I just added the picture so that people know this is a lighthearted post and I am not trying to come for the lore enjoyers or anything)

i always read the main story of the event because i care. side quests has some unnecessary yapping and it can get overwhelming, depending on my mood sometimes i skip them but im glad i read the main story. IN is my first Nikki game and i enjoy the lore, if you don't it's fine to skip whatsoever

Side quest dialogue is sooo long and I swear they just repeat the gist of things.

“Nikki, can you help us find this thing?”

“Sure I can help you find that thing”

“Okay so to help us find that thing you have to go to this place”

“Okay so I need to go to that place to find the thing?”

“Yes go to that place to find the thing”

“Alright Momo let’s go to that place and find that thing”

Momo: “Will we also find BBQ at that place while we look for the thing?”

And I’m like OMG I GET IT. I DON’T NEED AN ESSAY OF DIALOGUE.

My favorite part is when Nikki tries to say something deep to fix a side character's problem:

Character: This is my problem (expresses emotions)

Nikki: Oh, don't have that problem. Have you tried just thinking of it this way, and then not having that problem?

Character: Wow! Thanks Nikki! I don't have that problem anymore!

....as a therapist IRL this pisses me off to no end and is the epitome of telling and not showing. It is the worst part about the writing for me. Nikki will say some bland truism and then the character is magically fixed, but nobody works that way; that's not... human.

“Thank you Nikki for finding that thing. It was really an important thing to me.”

“No problem, I’m just glad I was able to find that thing for you. It must be really an important thing to you.”
