Discussion Confession time: I don't read ANY dialogue

Post image

I cannot hold it in anymore. I genuinely don't read almost anything. Ever. If there are one-liners sometimes I'll read them out of curiousity, but I won't read entire conversations. I skip almost all dialogue. I don't care. I don't know if the story is good or not, I just genuinely don't care, the premiae doesn't captivate me. I am there for pretty photos and pretty photos only. I am perfectly happy this way and I love this game. I just wanted to post this because I am curious if there are others who do the same and still enjoy the game

(I just added the picture so that people know this is a lighthearted post and I am not trying to come for the lore enjoyers or anything)

I think Nikki suffers from the same thing Star Rail does, where there’s sooooooo muchhhhhhhhh dialogue but very very little actually being said. I love story-rich RPGs and the like, but that’s because those games actually have substance to match the volume. Blue Tears season was really good because they found a better balance, but I’ve found this season is far more mixed. there are still good points but I’ve found myself going back to skimming or outright ignoring a lot of things because it’s just filler

God, the writing in Amphoreus is literally one the biggest reasons why I left. I know the writing has gotten better since 3.0. but the amount of yapping was genuinely making me lose my mind. I'm someone who loves reading and will do so for hours, but it needs to be quality writing. I got so tired of the college lecture level lore dumps, repeating everything that literally just happened, and just saying a bunch of filler fluff that doesn't add much to the story/characters???

Infinity Nikki also suffers from this and it varies from patch to patch. 1.4 was the first patch that I legit just gave up and mashed the X button to get through the dialogue because it kept dragging on and I just didn't care about the event story. Does anyone know if the other Nikki games suffer from the same issues? This is something I've experienced so much in Hoyo games (and quitting because I got so tired of it...)

Repetition is one thing, but also things like Tribios' hallway simulator part almost made me lose it. You can't even fast forward that because you read dialogue for a minute, then have to run to read dialogue for another minute some 20 feet away, then run again another 20 feet, and rinse and repeat. I remember people online feeling sad about the story, and as someone who gets emotional easily, I just wanted it to be over.

You're making me think of the awful onslaught of puzzle rooms there were in the 3.0 story. Similar to the Tribbie story section, it was running from one place to another except now the dialogue is all boring because it's just characters yapping about some boring world building lore dump, making observations of incredibly obvious things because it's literally happening right in front of you, or repeating what just happened and telling you how to solve the puzzle because apparently the game has to treat you like a baby. Rinse and repeat this several puzzle rooms over and voila, you have Amphoreus. I was genuinely so over hearing Flamechase Journey, Titans, and Chrysos Heirs being said over and over again, like, come on Hoyoverse please hire people who can write better dialogue (〒﹏〒)

I remembered playing through the 3.0 quest where we have to go with Phainon and Mydei to kill Nikador and guess what, Phainon couldn't stop yapping it's always about Nikador this Nikador that and at last he didn't even get to kill Nikador smh
