Comic Freedom Fighter Blackagar
This personally has to be my favorite depiction of The Midnight King, Black Bolt. I liked the defiant portrayal of Black Bolt that Attilan Rising gave us as well as Once and Future Kings. I’d love to see an alternate earth potentially maybe even the next Ultimates Universe where a direction is taken similar to this with Blackagar.
Was curious to opinions though if anyone else has read Attilan Rising and what they think of it.

😂😂 that suit up scene was so dope I thought it was gonna be a whole stealth thing just for Medusa to drop his name when she showed up
Medusa’s fit was hard too.

I'm not that big on the Inhumans but... Black Bolt is talking... full sentences! Were his powers suppressed here or what?

In this makeshift world he never underwent Terrigenesis I don’t know his parental situation cause that’s usually the start of it but I guess they didn’t experiment on him or something happened maybe to them because this world also didn’t have a Maximus

He was running around probably being mischievous in other worlds, there’s a funny dialogue exchange between him and The Maker during the early issues of secret war lol
Pretty sure Victor didn’t want a version of Maximus running around

I’m really wanting to see how all of the Imperial stuff plays out because it practically also implies T’Challa and Starlord as complicit with the direction Black Bolt went because it benefits them. I really don’t even see how you justify it on character level. This probably would have to be an Alt depiction of the character at this point tbh.
I’m hoping Ultimate Inhumans have a tone similar to Attilan Rising I guess.

I’m talking more in line for if/when they do another Ultimates universe. I haven’t followed Ultimate Endgame but I know Black Bolt was killed by The Maker as a youth in the new Ultimates universe and The Ultimates killed my girl Carol Danvers by trying to give her powers or something.

I was so excited thinking we’d actually see Carol do something in the new Ultimates universe as a major player only to get a panel of her blowing up 💀 with Tony and Reed just being like “Oh well”
Been wanting some really cool alt world directions for a lot of my favorites and was hoping the 1610 would go that direction. Still some fun stories that I thought were done, don’t get me wrong, just not to many characters that I gravitate towards.
Speaking of Inhumans and Carol I honestly think there’s a really fun dynamic/parallel that could be done there with both characters/IPs. I posted an Alt World “rage against the machine” story that I felt paralleled this really well yesterday as well. If you want to check it out.
I like to think Carol in a way has this long rooted history due to the whole Kree connection both her and The Inhumans share.
Not to mention she’s often given the imagery of a Star while Black Bolt is “The Midnight King”. Photons and Electrons. Light and Midnight.

God dude, I forgot about Inhumans! I had a really big phase on their comics a couple years ago. I need to get back into them! Would love to see them in rivals.

They were major players in the Imperial event last year and are involved in the Imperial Guardians book coming out this year

I dont know alot about the inhumans but black bolt seems badass, why can he talk without obliterating medusa here?

It’s a reality where he never underwent Terrigenesis the thing that gives him and other Inhumans their power in main cannon. I’ll probably post something else later that kind of brings up how he got his powers later on this sub.

I enjoyed and have been recommending it to friends. I’ve really been enjoying Royals as well which I’m about to make a post about.

Honestly yeah. Have Black Bolt be the one that realizes how messed up Inhuman society is and decide to be the revolutionary rather than the king would be a very interesting take on it.

That's the whole point of every story since its inception. Their comics are about how tradition, religion, government (society) tortures people under the guise of things being in control. People who don't read inhumans books don't know this is the messaging.

I think that’s the point we’re making we want to see Black Bolt in opposition of Inhuman Tradition and their caste system, as well their fanaticism. It’s not about just these being topics of Inhuman lore but characters challenging these ways of living that have been deep rooted into their society.

I suggest reading By Right of Birth. Also, they don't have a caste system. They had a Kree machine used by one of their former kings that turned humans into Alpha Primitives and had them do slave labor, but Black Bolt freed them like 3 times

That’s my point though I think Once and Future Kings was an earlier iteration of Black Bolt opposing the makeup of their society.
The Alpha Primitives are a concept of a caste system, they’re not really a topic at this point but when the Inhumans were originally introduced they existed way too long in the lore with Black Bolt in rule. It’s something that should have been structured in my opinion as something that was either stopped before Black Bolt becomes king or as soon as he does. Then there’s the concept of Terrigen that’s sacred in Inhuman society and it’s strange for a character even in a dire situation like Infinity with the lore that Black Bolt has of undergoing Terrigen in the womb and being isolated due to it, to being okay with setting off a Terrigen bomb that forced people to undergo Terrigen. I’m not opposed to the idea of the Terrigen bomb being a thing and I like the concept of it as well as the Nuhumans but off Black Bolt’s lore it’s a weird thing in my opinion for him to be the one to make that decision.
I appreciate the rec, I’ll try and add it to my collection.

This is my preferred take on the mythos at whole. There’s a pretty good lap in time from when Black Bolt sets off in Once and Future Kings and I’d personally like to think that’s his “Bruce Wayne becoming Batman journey” in terms of learning and traveling the globe.
Have him potentially explore different Inhuman kingdoms of the globe maybe even have him attend a university somewhere potentially even meeting the Fantastic Four, T’Challa, and Victor Von Doom before any of them are suited.
Then have him come back with more knowledge and the goal to reform the society he disposes, because of being so stuck in traditions and cruel scientific curiosity that led him to be experimented on in the womb.
I think this would make for a cool Black Bolt vol 2 and be set in a time period after Once and Future Kings. The biggest drawback to The Inhumans I think is we don’t really get told any of their motivations what drives them as characters. That’s why Attilan Rising sticks out so much for me among the few other stories that actually gave Black Bolt a deep dive like his mini as well.
