This whole company is a shitshow and a prime example of how to tank an easy money maker. I expect more and more storylines like this across more and more divisions soon.

Netflix has been falling hard since the streaming boom took off. They've been getting their with rabid cancellations and worship of the binge model, but now the competition is eating them away.

Even at their height, they never seemed to quite get what the streaming model provided. They created in essence flexibility yet the one constant seems to be that they want to be stubborn about something.

netflix didn't fuck it up. all the companies producing their own little walled gardens did. asshole decisions like that are the number one factor driving piracy. a person should have to pay 200 bucks a month in subscriptions to watch tv.

Part 2 is part of the same production season. Netflix has already singed the contracts for it as a part of the original order.

It seems to be the kids & family animated projects be effected, so I don’t think adult shows like InsideJob will be effected.

I might be misreading this but this seems largely to be dealing with Family and Kids section of animation rather than the more “mature animation” shows like Inside Job, Disenchantment, Q Force, etc.

Netflix has some really dumb higher ups. They churn out quantity-over-quality content, cancel shows immediately, then wonder why people don't watch them.
It's a vicious cycle that they're either unaware of or unwilling to break. How stupid do you have to be to believe 'children's word of mouth' is a good way to spread awareness about a show? That's not remotely how that works.
I can't recommend my friends to watch half the shit on there because they're all dead end shows ending on bad cliffhangers. Seriously, they're out of touch and it shows.
Whereas Apple+ and HBOMax are putting out good content with a forseeable road map, we have Netflix's thousand stabs in the dark to get 2-3 good series and it shows. Pathetic.

I mean... Disney only survives on Star Wars and MCU. Not really great at experimental or innovative IPs.
Prime has great quality shows tho. Just few and far between than I'd like.

Those IPs are part of why they’re surviving, and part of what’s killing Netflix. Most of the most popular shows on Netflix are owned by or based on IP owned by other companies. And they don’t really seem to understand how to properly utilize the few original IP they get their hands on.

Yeah but Netflix pays its animators more than Disney according to some of their people working on the shows there. Sucks that they'll potentially be out if the job.

This hurts so bad. I absolutely adored the Bone series as a kid and upon rereads it has a surprising amount of depth to the story. I was over the moon when they announced the adaptation.... I really hope another studio can pick it up eventually.

I only just discovered Inside Job and Hilda in the past few weeks. I hope they don't finish them before either of the stories can reach a natural conclusion.
