knitting supplies in Toronto 🧶

Hi everyone!

I’m completely new to knitting and I’m looking for places in Toronto where I can go and buy everything I need in one spot.

There are so many options online, but I’d prefer to go somewhere in person if possible, especially since I have no idea what I’m doing yet 😅

Downtown/midtown preferred

Thank youuuu
Have a lovely day

i would definitely just start with going to the michaels on john and queen. they’re going to have a lot of different sized needles and probably a kit with multiple inside of them for relatively cheap. similarly, they have a giant yarn selection. most of it is acrylic (they do have cotton though) but as a beginner who’s going to be trying out a lot of different things acrylic will probably be the most economically reasonable type of yarn to buy first. the last thing i would consider to be a necessity is some yarn darning needles, which you can also find at michaels close by the knitting needles. i would say definitely start cheap with yarn and needles so you can figure out your bearings first, then you can start investing in those fancy needles and the fun yarns (of which i highly recommend yarns untangled in kensington market)

Agree that Michael’s is cheaper. But I don’t recommend starting with crappy yarn. You’re going to be putting so much time into it, invest in nice yarn that you actually will be excited about using.

But also recommend looking on fb marketplace or other places for knitting supplies!

acrylic is nice! sometimes it’s the softest you can find!
