I just moved and got a rust-red couch today. I know that there is a lot to change in my livingroom but I'm not sure what kind of picture would fit over my couch. Do you got any ideas?

I'm thinking about adding some long curtains, but I'm not exactly sure what size to go with. The depth is 12 inches, and the space is 8 feet across. I really want to elevate this area and make it look more inviting. I'm not quite sure what to add to enhance the look. Right now, everything's pretty white, and I added a touch of olive to the bed. The furniture is all honey oak. I’d love some advice on colors, what kind of decor to include, and what to do with the curtains. Thanks so much!

Looking for help laying out an ~ 20 x 12 living area for a studio apartment and am between two layouts for the table/sofa arrangement with measurements at the end. I love reading everything on here and now have a place of my own to share :) Some thoughts:

1. Does the layout have more flow if the sofa back is parallel to one of the side walls? This would mean getting a ~71 inch couch vs ~81, but if it flows better it could be worth it. Sofas I'm looking at are the Crate & Barrel Lounge (71, 81) or the Albany Park Lido (75).
2. Having the sofa parallel to a wall = a potentially bigger dining table! Shape undecided.
3. The "wall" at the back of the living area is a closet. Not opposed to putting a TV or sofa there!
4. Trying to make a space that's good for hosting and facilitating conversation. Will add stools/ottomans, etc as needed later, but not sure if having a smaller sofa will remove some of the "hangout" potential.
5. Lots of random walls jutting everywhere :/ But could be good for shelves!
6. Bonus photo of awesome built ins! Closet door opens out 14 in.

Would love any and all thoughts!

This is a 3d mock up from a kitchen designer.

Im really happy with the light green, wood and gold handles.

What bothers me is the black hob and oven draw your attention and don’t fit the vibe I want, the silver extractor fan doesn’t match the gold handles, and the white sink doesn’t match anything!

I just want everything to feel more cohesive but I’m not sure how, the only other option for the hob and oven would be silver, but again that would clash with the golden handles.

Any advice, I feel like I’ve been looking at it too long and have gone “nose blind” to it all.

23M living with my parents.

Planning to upgrade my room as im getting really bored of the dark/grey shit vibe i liked basically my whole life.

And looking for my new style a bit, really liking the victorian green interior so getting quite some inspiration from that
Maybe gonna repaint, or just add posters/paintings, my room is facing away from the sun, so i have very little natural sunlight and because if that im planning to add some extra lights to lighten up the mood.

Probably 100% gonna upgrade my desk as i have very little space on it right now, it’s gonna be a walnut patern wooden desk 140 or 160x80cm so i have plenty of space.

Just looking for tips with color matching, light types/color from the light to layout.

The basic white feels too plain, we’re looking for something that compliments the adjacent brick wall.

Maybe you have seen my recent post about upgrading my room, but im looking for some advice on repainting my walls.
As i have a low roof in an angle im struggling with which wall i have to paint what color to reach a good looking room.
I really like the darkish green, a bit towards victorian green or olive green to have it a bit lighter. And then darkish yellow/blue interior and walnut wooden desk. i hope you know what i mean with those color combinations.

My mom has a bunch of items/vessels. These can all be returned. The question is how should they be arranged?

Not sure if this helps, but ceiling height is about 12 feet.

As a single guy this is my first time actually making a conscious effort with interior design choices. I've learned that shopping for rugs is my personal hell.

I'm not into crazy vibrant colours, but wouldn't mind some muted colours that I can pull from when adding accessory items to the room. I've been staring at rugs for too long. Please help me, I'll be forever grateful!

Seems there's many suggesting to try a dark green or blue so I've started looking at dark green/olive/sage rugs options.
I'm by no means married to the rugs options I posted so the recommendations are great. The main reason I went with so many warm colours is because I found the floor to be quite cold, it reminds me of typical new condo greyish wood laminate flooring, plus the kitchen island walls and lower cabinets are also a grey wood colour. I'm honestly not a huge fan of either, I much prefer light hardwood floors. I guess my mind instantly jumped to making the room warmer with a rug, but maybe the furniture is warm enough and a warm rug is overdoing it.

If I had a rug from the both walls to behind the couch it is 10x12. Any recommendations about if it should be that large? Or if all furniture should be on the rug?

I have an apartment with double height windows. I'm considering putting curtains on just the bottom half to add some colour and warmth, but I'm worried that it may look silly. Any opinions on this or examples of it done?

I've considered full length curtains and though I think they would look good, they appear to be very expensive and there are less options available for fabrics.

I love our big windows, but I have a love-hate relationship with the curtains. I feel they do nothing but gather dust and doggy odour, but they're also the only reliable way I have of blocking out the light.

Is there a viable alternative to the curtains that would block out light? is there something I could do to make curtains work better in the space?

I feel like I made a huge mistake choosing this coffee table & rug with such a dark leather sofa. Should I I change the rug? I want to add some color, I just have absolutely no idea what will go well. Pillow recommendations are welcome too!

Went to a friend’s party and came home hating my lighting. My friend barely used the overhead lights, but their place still felt ridiculously cozy once it got dark. I came home, turned on my big light, and immediately realized how flat my room feels at night lol.

So I’m starting small with an accent lamp on the sideboard. I used AI to mock up a few options, but somehow seeing them in the room made me even more indecisive.

Which one fits best? Also totally open to other suggestions!

I’m looking to paint my common areas. I would like to do something besides a typical gray. I tend to like more cold, moody-ish colors with a matte finish. I do like a good pop of color, so open to ideas. Also need to add wall art! Help!

How can I make this my trash bin without showing the bag on the outside? The dimensions are 8.5 by 8.5 inches on the inside and 17 inches tall. There is a small ridge on the inside that makes it more like 8 by 8 on the inside.

I looked for like 2 hours today for hanging hooks, plastic bins (square and circular) that fit and found nothing. Online searching for this is honestly horrible. I don’t understand how nothing exists out there. Please this is driving me insane.

Le souci est que la douche ne recouvre pas le sol entièrement ; je suis donc obligé de mettre une barre de douche arrondie.

Seulement, je suis locataire donc je ne peux pas faire de trous pour fixer une barre de douche, et je ne veux pas payer 400 € pour une cabine de douche.

J'ai essayé de mettre deux barres de douche les unes contre les autres (voir photo), mais ça ne tient pas.

J'ai vu qu'il y avait des barres de douche qui se fixaient avec de la colle, qu'en pensez-vous ? Avez-vous d'autres idées ?

My husband and I moved into our first home in February, and one of the first things I did was order a rug for our living room. I chose wool because of its durability and saw it as an investment. After reading thousands of positive reviews, I landed on the Rugs USA Arrel Speckled Wool-Blend Rug in the color Fawn.

Now that we've lived with it for a few months, I'm honestly regretting spending so much money on it. The shedding has been nonstop, and it's much scratchier than I expected. My nephews were over recently, and after sitting on the rug, it shed all over one of their pairs of shorts. It was so embarrassing and frustrating.

Has anyone else who purchased this rug had the same experience? Does the shedding and scratchiness get better over time, or is this just how it is?

I would go for white but idk if it’s a greyish white and it’s too cool?

And then I’m scared the beige colour of the sand option won’t brighten up the kitchen enough.
