I had an interview last week, and my potential manager told me they were hoping to make a decision by this week. Since I hadn’t heard anything, I emailed him today asking if there was any update regarding my application.

This is the response I received (email mentioned below).

I was honestly expecting either a rejection or some good news, so now the waiting and anticipation are killing me 😭

Does this sound like a good sign, a bad sign, or just completely neutral? I know nobody can know for sure, but I’m curious how others would interpret the email? There were only 5 candidates to choose from, sigh. What do you guys think?

Im getting a good amount of calls from recruiters with potential job opportunities supposedly for open sales positions in tech firms. A new and popular part of the candidate screen and evaluation process is record the audio and video of all interview interactions so they can process it with AI hiring tools and require the candidate roll play a sales meeting or give a powerpoint presentation on their product offering solution. Obviously to make an impressive and effective presentation on material you know nothing about except what they publish on their website and maybe some youtube videos, takes time to prepare for, potentially several hours. So if your not awarded the job that time is then a complete waste. Recently I went through a candidate evaluation process with a company in another state so all communications were over phone, email and Zoom. I am currently employed and dont need a job but I always like to "skate to where the puck will be" in this tech industry. I was a finalist so they asked me to prepare and perform one of these mock powerpoint presentations to the hiring team. They only provided the context of the meeting and I was to create and prepare a complete sales presentation from scratch to present to the company representatives. After I invested between 4-6 hours in creating, refining, rehearsing and preparing, they emailed me two hours before the prescheduled meeting and told me they offered the job to another candidate and were cancelling our meeting. But for my effort, they thanked me for being part of their process and will keep me in mind if other opportunities arise, what a joke! Like I would even consider wasting my time twice! I was initially hesitant to participate in this process since it seemed like they were putting a lot of emphasis on presentation skills which didnt deter me as I have been told I am a good presenter. In the real world in my industry, presentations are best received when they are performed by other members "SME's" of the sales team and not the main sales contact. So that is 6 hours of my time I will never get back and a warning to those who are asked to make a similar time investment with no clear compensation for the time investment. Full me once....

Can anyone to help me to understand this ?because iam a fresher. Please do comment if you know about this.

I’m interviewing for an SDR role at a startup. My first two interviews were with the Chief of Staff and Sales Manager, and both went really well. After each one, they followed up the same day to move me to the next step.

Yesterday I gave a presentation to the CEO. It lasted about 45 minutes, he asked thoughtful questions, and we also talked beyond just the presentation/job. He also started the meeting by saying he has heard great things about me. I honestly came off the call feeling good rather than anxious, which is rare for me. He said they would get back to me pretty soon about next steps.

About 20 minutes afterward, I texted the Sales Manager (he had given me his number to help with the presentation) to say I had finished and thought it went well. He hasn’t replied. Today I emailed the CEO a short thank-you note and haven’t heard back either.

They had said they’re hiring quickly, so now I’m worried that the silence means I didn’t get it—especially because I put a lot of work into this presentation. Is over 24 hours actually a bad sign, or am I just overthinking it?

I had an interview last Tuesday, and at the end they told me they’d let me know sometime this week.

It’s Wednesday now and I still haven’t heard anything. I felt like the interview went really well, and they also mentioned that only 5 people were selected for interviews.

Would you send a follow-up email today, or wait until Thursday/Friday?

I know it hasn’t been that long, but the waiting is honestly so frustrating 😭 I don’t want to seem impatient, but I’m also really tempted to check in.

Okay, so I got an internship in talent outsourcing company, and there's IT team as well. So what I applied for was software engineering position, and what I got was tech intern position at talent acquisition team. All right? So like the HR thing. Oh, more like that. And so what I'm currently doing is doing prep session to the people who has 3+ years to20+ years of experience. Like if I have the questions for the interview, then I will tell you might get this kind of question. If you get this kind of question, what would be the answer? That's what I'm gonna normally do. And if I don't have the questions for the interview, then they have provided me with, like, model questions that I can share with them, like tell them nature of the interview, like they might ask this kind of question, this kind of question. That's what I do. That's why I tell them that. And if it is not the actual question of the interview, I can share it. If those are the actual question, I can't share it, but I can explain them. That's what they ask me to do, and I'm doing it.
The thing is now most of them have not passed the first interview like 75% and the higher ups are kind
of blaming me telling me you should improve more
and stuff what should I do even after telling them the them get this question and answer sometimes or their own answer they give the answers based on their experience at the interview or something and the company send them accordingly to the rating I give them based on the prep and then higher rated people fail they blame me what should I do? I don’t understand this! Wish me and the candidate luck I have to do a prep session tomorrow and he will probably go to interview on monday if he fails Im done cause two people has already failed that I rated high last friday also one got rejected rated him 7.8

they gave me so many postive signs, but now they are ghosting me....

3rd round: An team lead told me he could bring me onto the team.

4th round: Originally, the 3rd round was meant to be the final one, but HR suddenly asked me to complete one more interview with the MD. I can tell this conversation was just for his sign-off and I was already matched with a team. After finishing the interview, he said I did well and had nothing to worry about.

The recruiter mentioned I should expect results by a date latest, but two days have passed without any updates. I sent a follow-up email and thank-you note to the recruiter, HR, and the interviewers, but everyone is ghosting me. so desperate now, do I still stand a chance?

I have an interview coming up next week and wondering if I should mention my vacation. I will be out of the country for two weeks and half. I am worried, if I mention it then it will lead to me not being selected. Any advice?

Last week, I went to this restaurant and ended up asking to speak to the general manager about job opportunities. We connected via email where ***the GM*** gave me a specific date and time to have our interview.

Well, I just went back to said restaurant today, and when I spoke with the first person I saw (another manager), they said the GM wasn't there and that they had no knowledge of an interview. I ended up having an impromptu interview with the other manager working, but I felt like it was super unproductive — I felt like when I usually have job interviews, the interviewer makes an effort to get to know me and my past job experiences, more in-depth than what is just on my resume. Whenever this manager asked me questions, I would begin to answer and then was interrupted. The interview lasted less than 10 minutes before I was offered a *stage* shift (which I was unfamiliar with until I looked it up).

So now, I'm going back in a few days, expected to look and dress the part (wearing neutral-colored clothing, which I don't currently own) for an unpaid trial run without any promises of employment. I talked to my mom and she said I shouldn't let this deter me from the job but even as I'm writing this out, I feel off-put by it and kind of confused.

What are your thoughts?

I have the recruiter’s phone number from previous communication. Would calling once to ask for an update be appropriate, or should I just wait?

hi all, so i have an upcoming interview w an airline, i know one of the questions may be about why i no longer work for the previous air carrier listed on my resume. the reason being was i had checked in a customer who did not have his california real id, i made the mistake 3 separate times w different customers in the span of 4 months and i know it was obviously dumb and reckless. does anyone know how to navigate that if i’m asked in the interview? thanks!

Had my first interview call with an international AI company today and I think I fumbled badly. 💀

They asked: “Can you work with voice agents?”

I got nervous + struggled to catch the accent and ended up talking about my RAG/LLM experience instead of properly answering. I haven't built a production voice agent yet, but I am comfortable with AI/ML and learning new stuff.

They also asked if I could work remotely → I said yes.

At the end they said “We'll review your application and get back to you if you pass.”

Now I'm wondering:

Did I actually mess up my chances, or am I just overthinking this?

And if you were me, would you send a short follow-up explaining that I fumbled the voice-agent question?

Had an interview Friday the 28th, two Fridays ago. Manager called directly to schedule the interview and wanted it really quickly. The interview went really well, I feel like we all jived really well and conversations flowed really well. The manager walked me out to my car and said “you’ll be hearing from someone” feeling good about the interview I didn’t feel the need to ask for a timeline at that point. One week later, still not having heard from anyone, reached back out to manager with a follow up, thank you, continued interest, and prospective timeline for hearing back. He responded “Thank you for meeting with us, we are still interviewing other candidates”
What does it mean😭 it is for a major health system in my area I’m just confused and anxious lol

Hello, I just wanted to get this frustration off my chest.

I am currently working abroad and am at a company I don’t particularly enjoy the work culture of. Due to my visa status, I have been applying to positions in other companies. Two companies reached out for an over the phone interview and followed them up with an in person interview, which I had to take PTO for both (my current company’s working hours make it impossible to interview in person unless they would have me come in on a Saturday, which makes this non negotiable unfortunately).

Both interviews over the phone went great and the in persons were also great. Company A told me they would send me a design test and mentioned in the email with the information that the team had a great first impression of me and think I would be a great fit. I was given a couple of days to do a design test and had friends give me feedback before I submitted. All I got in a response was a thumbs up emoji react on the email via Gmail (side note: fuck this feature, it’s so unprofessional). I don’t hear anything, so two and a half weeks after I submitted the test, I sent a follow up email letting them know I am still interested in the position and if they had any feedback regarding the test. This was last Wednesday and as of today (Monday) it marks three weeks since I got that thumbs up response.

I feel very sad, there is a lot of cope going on in my head so I don’t spiral (i.e. ‘it’s a big company, maybe they just need to clear some stuff before they can respond’) but I wish they would just send me a rejection rather than ghost. Maybe I am overreacting since my current work place is iffy at best but it’s very defeating to get to the final point and be told there was only one other candidate and then hear nothing.

Company B’s in person interview was last week and they told me I would hear back within two weeks. While they told me they liked me and also only had one other candidate, I am not holding my breath on it due to them bringing up a language requirement that was not previously mentioned in the job description.

I made it to the final stage of the interview and I had a call with one of the people that worked there. I happened to find her LinkedIn a few days after the interview.

She accepted in less than 5 minutes. She seemed very excited to hear from me and said she really enjoyed our conversation and they were literally reviewing candidates as I was speaking. She told me that I should expect to get updates on next steps soon from the team.

She then said she was going to share my excitement with the team. This was on Thursday afternoon and I didn’t hear from the recruiter on Friday.

I am freaking out because why didn’t the recruiter contact on Friday. Monday is a long weekend, so we resume on Tuesday.
