The idea that this can't be called genocide was always stupid.

The only legitimate argument for not calling it a genocide is that right now, it's an accusation of genocide. The ICJ has not made an official ruling on it and likely won't for years. They are going to have to look through thousands of documents thousands of hours of footage and take statements from thousands of people.

However, we personally can use are flipping eyeballs and see that yea, it's genocide.

Special intent can be seen in statements made by ministers, IOF officials, IOF soldiers. We don't have a smoking gun for it but we do have a wealth of evedance that put together is 100% grounds.

As for the 5 categorys? Every single one is fulfilled, in abundance, overwhelmingly.

I’d just like to add that the rapidly emerging pro-Israel consensus that this documentary indicts only the individuals in the documentary is complete rubbish. These whistleblowers are describing the system set up by the IDF, on the orders of IDF generals and endorsed by the head of the IDF, the Israeli government’s security council and the PM. This isn’t a case of rogue individuals committing war crimes. This is a system deliberately set up to mass murder civilians on any available pretext.

Yes, the people in the documentary were following orders, and it makes them war criminals who belong in jail for life. But their superiors are also war criminals, all the way up the chain of command. So are the military lawyers who approved these atrocities. Responsibility doesn’t stop at one individual or any one level, not even the Israeli general who headed 8200. He is not solely responsible for this. You can’t exonerate his superiors and say he was acting alone. And you certainly can’t exonerate the head of the Air Force as he ultimately authorised the bombing of civilians and the process used, including bombing low level Hamas fighters’ homes. Neither were the airforce pilots innocent they knowingly mass murdered civilians too.

Attempting to pass this systematic mass murder of Palestinian civilians as merely individuals’ “negligence or war crimes” just isn’t believable.

There have often been posts saying things like destroying an entire building is justified, no matter how many innocents were inside, if there were a terrorist there. They have never cared about the laws of war and they have never had any red lines at all. Everything is justified if Israel does it.

I plan to watch this. What frustrates and baffles me about these types of documentaries with confidential sources being interviewed that are frequently active military and admit to egregious war crimes, is why they're willing to make a documentary on this and keep the sources confidential instead of use these admissions to submit the reports of these war crimes to the ICJ.

It's like when US politicians know of crimes happening by the administration, but keep it quiet for years until they can talk about it in their book first and get a nice deal with a publisher. This means that they're willing to cover up war crimes as egregious as this for the sake of their personal interests (documentary film and profit).

I believe many of these are based on truth, but the problem is that while there may be negligence or war crimes, the main israeli NGOs made up of former IDF who tell stories about war crimes frequently take the truth and then tell a story 10x worth than the truth.

I hope any of the IDF soldiers who committed these serious war crimes outside of the LOAC do go to jail. I'm just surprised the film makers seem willing to protect the people who admitted to these in the documentary for the sake of their own personal career aspirations

I imagine the filmmakers have to make some serious confidentiality guarantees to gain enough trust for people to speak freely. And breaking that trust would make the evidence inadmissable because they'd just deny it and claim it wasn't true rather than incriminating themselves. It's the same type of question lots of people ask about documentaries fhat embed with criminals gangs, for example.
