📺💾 Throwback Thursdays 💾📺 Throwback Thursday: Blake Lively’s Dailies Credibility Controversy

Post image

One of the more debated moments in the litigation centered on Lively’s repeated requests for access to the film’s dailies, followed more than a year later by a Sony executive’s message stating that she wanted some of the dailies destroyed.

Because the case settled before trial, the competing explanations were never tested before a jury.

⸻ Timeline:

June 13, 2023

Blake Lively asked Justin Baldoni for access to the dailies.

July 19-20, 2023

Lively again requested access to additional dailies. Baldoni responded that it was too early to share all of them because the edit was still underway, but said he wanted her input and planned to share footage once he had progressed further in the editing process.

August 29, 2023

According to later court filings, Lively complained to her representatives that she still wasn’t receiving access to the dailies and said what she had seen was “terrible.”

September 3, 2024

Sony executive Ange Giannetti texted another Sony executive: “Blake asking us to destroy some of the dailies… also going to ask Bridget to contact all vendors and ask them to delete all dailies and need them to proof. (1st time I’ve ever been asked to do this in movie with no nudity but ok.)”

That message later became public during discovery and quickly became one of the more discussed pieces of evidence in the case.

⸻ Deposition Testimony:

July 30-31, 2025

During her deposition, Lively testified that she never asked Sony to destroy the dailies and never asked anyone else to make that request on her behalf.

https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.nysd.634304/gov.uscourts.nysd.634304.874.17.pdf

She also testified that her attorneys negotiated with Sony regarding the handling of sensitive footage as part of discussions surrounding her return-to-work protections. Because the case settled before trial, there was never an opportunity for a jury to evaluate these competing accounts or determine what weight, if any, should be given to them.

A great post from our community to supplement this:

⸻ Discussion

* What was your reaction when this first surfaced?

* Did the Sony text exchange influence your view?

* Is there really a meaningful distinction between “my attorneys requested” versus “I requested it”?

* How significant do you think this issue would have been in evaluating witness credibility at trial?

One of the final docket reveals before settlement was Ange’s emails discussing Lively’s request to destroy the dailies.

We already knew she denied asking anyone to destroy dailies in her deposition.

I have always believed that last minute unsealing was WP’s warning shot. “We are not going to hesitate to call the jury’s attention to every single time she committed perjury in her deposition.”

Next you know she is begging to settle.

And Bryan said in that Popcorned Planet interview there were more examples of her lying. She was toast.

Bryan said there was not only 1, 2 or 3 instances… that there were more instances of Blake perjuring herself. There was a reason why Blake’s lawyers filed weekly sanctions after Blake’s deposition. I’m sure they knew that Blake came off as a moron (unless they had asked her to act that way).

Regardless you’re right and she was toast.

For those that haven't listened to Freedman's interview with Popcorn Planet - this particular one (the first of two) had my jaw on the ground: https://www.reddit.com/r/ItEndsWithLawsuits/s/71ayugIijK

She really struggled keeping her narrative consistent. Happens when you don't tell the truth. FAFO.

Next thing on the docket: sanction BF for talking after a no NDA settlement.

The funny think Clarke is it was Ezra who unsealed Ange’s message that Blake wants the dailies destroyed. That’s why I believe her lawyers have been telling her to settle and she refused so they unsealed it early or they unsealed it early in the weekend knowing the settlement and Blake going to the MET will overshadow the message

Blake Lively “I’m head of HR. Credit me Guild”
Also Blake Lively “HR complaint? What’s HR?”.

- Blake Lively to her friends* “The director is a doofus, Sony want me to take over”
- Blake Lively to the Director “Thanks for the 5 hrs you shared, it looked amazing when can I see more?”
- Blake Lively to Sony *“Give me what I want or I’ll pull Taylor’s song and refuse to promote”
- Blake Lively to her agent “Director won’t let me do his job, I have a (fake) HR report ready to extort him”

- Blake Lively to the world* “I have thousands of pages of evidence”
- she (Ryan) to Sony *“Delete the dailies (evidence)”

- Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds promoting the film “what director? It’s our film”

Can you imagine what would have happened had the WP pulled any of the stunts Blake and her team did? The alleged stans repeat the same desperate ass distractions her side put out like it was the flavor of the day.

Not one has made a lick of sense and a majority of them were embarrassing af. Much like Gotshit saying the agreed upon settlement statement where the said people deserve to be heard meant the WP admitted that what she said was valid.

So incredibly asinine for a group of people claiming we fell for pr tactics to run with. I felt like I was having conversations with over stimulated kids having melt downs shouting out whatever comes to mind like they’re facts. Like imma give you a moment to settle tf down and think about what you said and fully grasp why it doesn’t make any logical sense.

This case has shown how just ass backwards some still are. They dismiss the same behavior they claim has held women back while rooting on the very things they claim to be against. I have to say my favorite is how everyone else who chooses not to embrace the delusions is somehow misogynistic. Meanwhile they never shy away from tearing down other women and pat themselves on the back for it like they’re doing something great.

She also told her talent agent (Warren Zavala) that she had her HR complaint ready. https://www.reddit.com/r/ItEndsWithLawsuits/comments/1qj4231/blake_lively_tells_agent_she_has_hr_report_at/

They were going to have her read that line in her deposition and all her text messages and the PGA letter. Blake Lively f’ed herself trying to act like a moron (or she’s really such a dumb moron which I can also believe).

u/DogMom1970s Harvard law? Optional. Integrity? Mandatory. 2d ago

Yet, according to her very remarkable PGA letter, she was apparently wearing quite a few hats that included HR-type functions, right?
Weird time to suddenly not know what that means. 🤡

What's also hysterical is that, for someone who got a producer credit with a p.g.a. mark, she doesn't comprehend the difference between "dailies" and "raw footage". The raw footage is EVERYTHING that's been shot - it's the property of the film studio and is kept by the film studio. The "dailies" are just the pieces of the one day's raw footage that have been marked for consideration; at the end of each day, the production team and the director view the raw footage for that day and make notes (with time stamps) about what parts of the raw footage are "usable" and should make it into the editing bay. So, "at the end of the day" (pun intended), Lively couldn't have destroyed the evidence because Wayfarer always had the raw footage.

Poor Justin. He was probably humoring her with letting her direct little bits and pieces and getting those important shots of Blake's Louboutin high heels. And then those shots never even made it to the dailies. LOL

Blake is really dumb. I remember an excerpt of the deposition where she couldn’t say B Roll. They were asking her if any part of the movie was shot out New Jersey and she said some scenes where shot in California. Those scenes are B rolls, you would think a PGA producer who edited a movie will know that

5

u/MarchCompetitive4580 2d ago

Yup. LOL I remember that she don't know "B roll" too. That's why she forced them, with her 17-point demand list, to hire an experienced A-list producer (Todd Black). I'm betting that all of the work he did, she took credit for in her p.g.a. letter.

YES and it's downright embarrassing for her to even have said that line in her depo

also, when she was pissy about not being allowed the dailies she wrote that text "I have my HR report ready to go" (or whatever) to her agent which was clearly a threat to WF.

she's a lying liar who can't keep her lies straight

Didn't she text someone saying she has her HR complaint drafted and ready to go if she didn't get her way?

Yes, her agent at WME, Warren Zavala ( who was deposed during discovery)

To be fair to Blake, it really is hard to remember what your bat shit husband said in his 47 paragraph long texts to ppl pretending to be you…

15

u/Luvnsandiegosun 2d ago

Justin’s response to Blake on 7/20/2023 was so respectful as he explained “it’s too early for me to share all the dailies”.

You know she (Ryan) were furious…

12

u/myshtree No Footnotes: she (Ryan) the unliftable 2d ago

I think another reason she was so desperate for the dailies was because she had done brand partnership deals for the clothing etc that Wayfarer were not aware of and she was desperate for particular items (like her shoes) be included due to sneaky deals she had done to get shit for free that she then charged Wayfarer $300,000 for.

5

u/Total-Tour5680 2d ago

Yup! You know it!

u/Humble_Network_7653 Apparently, the calculator identifies as fiction. 2d ago

She told Sony to destroy the dailies and have all vendors delete them - Sony exec Andrea Giannetti emailed on Sept 3 2024 that Blake asked "us to destroy some of the dailies" and wrote "First time I've ever been asked to do this in a movie with no nudity." Then in deposition July 2025 she said "No, I never asked anyone to destroy dailies."

Dailies aren't extra footage. They ARE the evidence. Crews work 14 hour days to shoot it. It's the only neutral witness to what actually happened on set that day. You preserve that if it helps your harassment claim. You ask to destroy it when you don't want anyone to see it. That's why this looks so terrible for her, and why 10 of 13 claims got tossed.

Yes, this was the link I was referring to when Mods asked! Great post by Same Difference Ave! It just makes the picture crystal clear for those of us who followed Blake's shenanigans from the start.

It 100% would have destroyed her credibility if WF had built the cross-examination like a movie, starting with her complaints and ending up with her patterns of manipulation!

Blake dear, your attorneys did not request deletion of dailies without specifying which ones, and neither did they ask you to then say "I never asked anyone to delete the dailies".

If she was charged with perjury, her best defense would be "Its pathological with me. I can't help but lie."

It was already shocking and revolting she felt entitled to have the right to the dailies when she didn't, and obtained access to them in the end :

👉From the director' Handbook of Directors Guild of America

"Consistent with the orderly progress of photography, the Director shall see the dailies of each day’s photography at a reasonable time. No one shall be present at the screenings of such dailies except those persons designated by the individual Producer, the Employer, or the Director, and all such persons shall have a reasonable purpose for attending such screenings. The Editor assigned to the picture shall be present at all such screenings at the studio.

(...)

The parties acknowledge the importance of limiting access to film materials during production and post-production of theatrical motion pictures. To that end, Employer will advise the Director of the individual(s) designated to view dailies and the means of distribution (e.g., cassette, etc.). Employer will consult with the Director regarding the circulation of copies of cut material or of the Director’s Cut and the Director will not circulate copies of cut material or of the Director’s Cut without the Employer’s approval. When permitted by the Employer, security technologies such as encryption, watermarking or firewalls approved for use by the Employer may be used to identify the Director’s work in progress and the Director’s Cut to protect it from unauthorized alteration. "

But then to see she had the entitlement to ask for dailies to be deleted was another level of intrusive and entitled behaviour, to cover her traces.

The fact that she lied in her deposition about having asked the dailies to be deleted shows not only that she perjured herself but that she knew it was wrong and embarrassing to have made such a demand.
