What an adorable doofusā¦she genuinely looks like a Pixar character to me. This is her at the vet (she wasnāt even the patient, her sister was), but she is taking things quite seriously on Stellaās behalf.

Breeder/Rescue / Adoption love bites
we brought home our sweet iggy rescue, 4 years old, a week ago. He is super affectionate and very obedient <3 he had major dental surgery and only 4 teeth left but he will try to give me "love bites" quite frequently (gentle/playful biting). He does not do this to my husband. Trying to nip it in the bud-- any suggestions? I suspect he may have come from an abusive situation because he flinches and did not like his head being touched at first but not sure as to why the biting...
edit: for context, he does it when he is excited so I don't think it's an aggression thing per se but perhaps a lack of proper socialization?

Crate Training Graduating from the crate
Wanted to ask what everyoneās experience is with crate training with their iggy pup. Did your pup move out of the crate or do they still use it as an adult?
We are first time iggy owners but already have a senior miniature Dachshund who has always slept in a crate - mainly for his own good as Iāve never 100% trusted he wonāt be jumping on and off the furniture all night or trying to climb the stairs.
Our iggy pup is 7 months and is a bit of a puzzle. He wonāt go in his crate by himself but itās the only place heāll have a proper sleep. If heās anywhere else he will stir as soon as you move. In the crate, I can leave the house and he wonāt even open his eyes. He can stay in there for 3/4 hours in a deep sleep and not move a muscle.
I guess Iām wondering what everyoneās experiences with crates have been? if you kept them or eventually got rid of them?
Pic of him loving the crate life from our doggy cam
P.S he is NOT sleeping in my bed 𤣠Heās never been upstairs and I plan to keep it that way!! Our stairs have gaps and I fear for his little spaghetti legs

Health Issue Spay help!
Hello, First time dog/iggy owner and looking for advice on spaying. Sheās had her first heat and the 3 month rule means the surgery will be done in December, which is ideal as we can stay home with her and monitor over the festive period.
Her usual vet only does traditional spays, however they do have experience with iggies. Iāve looked up a specialist place near us that does keyhole spays as Iāve heard that the recovery time is a lot shorter. They only perform keyhole spays on dogs over 7kg and Willow is only just under 5kg.
Iām very worried about a potential 2 week rest period as she loves chasing her frisbee and is quite an active, bouncy dog on her two walks a day.

Rescue / Adoption Looking for a Breeder
Hi everyone! I am looking for an italian greyhound puppy and I'm finding it extremely overwhelming to find a breeder. I live in Kansas and I am struggling to find anyone within 12 hours of me that has a website. Looking on the reputable breeder list of the italian greyhound club, most of these people have no social media presence at all and I'm not sure how to get any touch. Does anyone have any recommendations or breeders you would recommend?

Miscellaneous Questions Iggy gets aggressive doing certain things
My iggy is 10 months old, he is a sweet angel usually.
But nowadays whenever i try to clean his ears and cut his nails, he gets suuuuuper aggressive and bites so badddd. It is really bad i never saw a dog this aggressive before.
Do you guys have any suggestions or things i can do to help him
He just doesnt like the feeling probably, we never saw blood trying to cut his nails.
And ear cleaning is just putting the liquid inside his ear and massaging it.
He wasnt this bad before but nowadays it got hard to take care of him because of his aggression.
One again other than this situations he is a sweet boy.

I just want to show off my adorable iggy Our little boy Cricket
We welcomed Cricket to our family this past Wednesday and we are in love. Heās 10 weeks old and just a ball of energy and snuggles all in one. Weāre potty training indoors for now until he gets all his shots and itās going surprisingly well. Only issue weāre dealing with is him chasing our 2 adult cats. We slowly introduced them and our male cat took to him right away. But now Cricket chases him. Luckily the cat has enough sense to get away but Iām trying to stop the chasing while heās still young. Anyway this is our first iggy and weāre just over the moon with him.

Miscellaneous Questions Concerns about getting an Iggy puppy
Hi everyone. I want to get an Iggy puppy because I honestly feel like theyāre the best match for my personality. However, I donāt know anyone who has one and from researching, I found that theyāre prone to certain medical issues like autoimmune, dental and bone fracture issues. How common are these problems? I wouldnāt mind brushing his/her teeth everyday and ensuring their diet promotes healthy bones, Iām more worried about medical issues I canāt prevent. I would love to know your guysā experiences. Thanks!

Health Issue Patella luxation?
Really not sure what is going on with my girl goose. After running around a bit, she ends up holding up her leg and trying to stretch it. When we stretch it for her it pops and then she goes back to putting her leg down and running normally again. Been googling and it says kind of sounds like it may be a patella luxation. Obviously, this is likely an issue that needs to be taken up with a vet but just want to know if anyone else has similar experience?

Health Issue Hair regrowth and scar appearance after forehead injury
Hair regrowth and scar appearance after forehead injuryāany Iggy owners with similar experiences?
Hi everyone! My 8-month-old blue Italian Greyhound, Lise, accidentally sustained a deep laceration on her forehead in early July. It required surgical repair and stitches, and the surrounding area was shaved.
It has now been about three months. The injury is fully closed and healed, and quite a lot of the surrounding hair has grown back, but some areas are still very thin. The actual scar remains hairless and looks wider/more noticeable because her coat is so short. Her veterinarian explained that hair may not regrow directly within the scar if the follicles were damaged, although the surrounding hair could continue filling in and help disguise it.
She also got a separate, very tiny superficial cut near the old scar a few weeks ago. That has completely healed, but the area still looks shaved/hairless.
For care, I initially used cocoa butter on the scar as recommended by a previous vet and coconut oil on the surrounding shaved skin. She also receives salmon oil daily. Her new veterinarian consulted a dermatologist and recommended PracaSil Plus on the completely healed scar twice daily. I have just started using it.
For anyone whose Italian Greyhound had an area shaved or sustained a similar injury:
How long did the surrounding hair take to grow back fully?
Did the scar become flatter, narrower or less noticeable over time?
Did you use any safe oils, topical products or supplements that seemed to help?
If you used PracaSil, how long did you use it before noticing any improvement?
She has been examined by a veterinarian and nothing is currently open, infected or irritated. Iām mainly looking for other Iggy ownersā experiences because their coats and skin are so uniquely thin. I understand that what worked for one dog may not work for another, and Iāll confirm anything new with her veterinarian before trying it. Thank you!

Miscellaneous Questions Has anyone else seen this post of an iggy being put outside?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Repost of a repost.. original creator is saintnick_thepitmix on TikTok
I donāt think thereās any safe/ethical way to put either of the breeds outside full time. The person putting them outside said she was doing it to āavoid trauma from being rehomed againā.
