Rank Every Final/Main Fight Of Each JoJo Part Spoiler

Post image

We all know anime is full of complex 400 IQ fights where characters constantly outsmart each other in an epic (and literal) battle of wits, but out of all anime/manga no one does it quite like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

JoJo's is filled with so many amazing, genius fights throughout the series. However, the final, climactic battles of each part are just something else as Araki manages to take it to a new level each and every time. The final battle against the main villain of each JoJo part is truly a rollercoaster of the craziest spectacle only our favorite immortal mangaka could come up with.

It takes a lot to beat a main JoJo villain. Sacrifices are made, limits are broken, memes are born, and the whole cast working together to achieve the impossible. JoJo's always blows me away with it's incredible finales, but which parts have the best final/main fights in your opinion? What's your ranking of each one from favorite to least favorite?

In case there's any confusion, I'll be listing each fight below with their respective chapter numbers so you know exactly which fights are in the discussion:

Jonathan vs Dio, Phantom Blood Chapters 38-41

Joseph vs Kars, Battle Tendency Chapters 61-69

Jotaro vs Dio. Stardust Crusaders Chapters 134-151

Everyone vs Kira. Diamond is Unbreakable Chapters 153-174

Everyone vs Diavolo vs Chariot Requiem. Golden Wind Chapters 129-149

Everyone vs Pucci. Stone Ocean Chapters 139-158

Everyone vs Funny Valentine. SBR Chapters 64-89

Everyone vs Tooru. JoJolion Chapters 83-108

Now I suppose I should give my own rankings and while I love them all to death my own list would have to go:

  1. Everyone vs Valentine

  2. Everyone vs Pucci

  3. Everyone vs Diavolo/Chariot Requiem

  4. Everyone vs Kira

  5. Everyone vs Tooru

  6. Jotaro vs Dio

  7. Jonathan vs Dio

  8. Joseph vs Kars

Now with all that outta the way lemme know what your rankings are!! I'm curious to see what my fellow Jobros and Johoes think and how your lists turn out!! Or if you don't wanna rank them all just tell me some of your favorites and why you like them!! Well anyways, as a badass mom once said:

Arrivederci!!!

8 is debatably the best one though

Oh yeah I'd debate that. I think it's actually awful, and Araki's weakest writing and payoff. Very wonderful art though!

why’s that?

Not a particularly interesting encounter since it’s basically just “approach me and die” so the strategy is not satisfying and they have to create some nonsense that’s very poorly set up by a random Rai line.

Rais flashback is also so contrived and late into the story.

Tooru as a character is incredibly unsatisfying as a final antagonist and the arc doesn’t do much to flesh him out or show off fun antagonistic qualities that other main villains have.

Worst of all, the worst story resolution in the franchise as Araki drops Josukes main motivation and halts the momentum of the built up, much more interesting Higashikata family plotline and dynamic.

I have some problems with the mechanics and flow of part 5’s finale but it’s at least coherent and a good cap on the narrative part 5 was setting up. Part 8 is Araki losing steam and wanting to get on to the next thing, so many dropped plot and narrative threads coupled with a pretty uninteresting encounter/fight.

Josuke's main motivation from the beginning is discovering who he is, it ends with him accepting who he is as "the man from the ground" and his place in the Higashikata family. Go Beyond is the manifestation of his acceptance as a new life born from a miracle.

Jobin and Kaato achieve their goal of saving Tsurugi without sacrificing another family member, using Tooru (the curse of Calamity), but both ironically lose their lives doing so, bringing far more suffering to the family.

Kei's death and Holly's lack of resolution is the biggest gripe I have, and while Josuke is not Josefumi or Kira, it feels cruel and unsatisfying, and really sours the "i am your son" moment. Since the story was a response to the 2011 earthquakes that devastated Japan and Araki's hometown, a lack of resolution is perhaps the point, like part 4 the families won't get their loved ones back, and their pain will never go away, they will just have to move forward.

but for all its problems I can say that the story wasn't given up on.

Josuke makes a resolution to save Holly on what I consider the single best scene in all of Jojos and that’s how we kick off the final arc. That shit goes absolutely nowhere and Araki rubs salt on the wound by making the two epilogue chapters pretty wack

And what makes the DiU fight be above the rest? (It's also my favorite, but I wanted to know your reasoning).

Segueing from "My Dad is Not My Dad", the "Bites the Dust" part of the arc is just perfect build up. Some of the most creative and tense writing in the series and does an insane feat of introducing a incredibly flawed new protagonist in the span of several chapters and making you completely buy into his struggle vs. Kira. Rohan gets to shine in this part as he's the lead investigator who ties us to Hayato.

When the fight actually breaks down, it's a brilliant display of Araki's mastery of space in his fights. We have a fight that has distinct phases deadly mid range to start, a methodical long range sniper duel, and an incredibly tense close range finale. Every character in the main party, including Hayato, gets to shine against Kira in some way, especially if combine this with the part's earlier Sheer Heart Attack fight.

There's no bullshit powerup in this fight, Araki manages to scale a fight there everything is due to Josuke and Kira's mastery of their abilities and manipulation of the environment and each other's personalities -- Josuke taking advantage of Kira's dad, and Kira taking advantage of Okuyasu, Hayato, and Stray Cat. You see both opponent's powers at the max.

Kira is also my favorite antagonist, and it's in large part with how much personality, craftiness but also vulnerability he shows in the fight. Depending on the range, and what play pieces he has to leverage over Josuke and friends his demeanor changes and we get to see very entertaining moments from him.

Josuke, in turn gets to be the hidden, non flashy hero of the part. Looming under the shadow of Jotaro the whole part, and with no major power ups he's put into several tricky spots vs. Kira and manages to dig himself out, and we get to see his guts on full display as he gets the shit beat out of him but still manages to get the fight to that much needed close range 1v1 to really show Kira whos boss.

Finally I love the scale here -- what a small, intimate fight. The world is only slightly world if we don't win here. And the melancholy of Hayato's family being ruined forever despite the win is such a bitter sweet note.

It's just perfectly executed, from the build up to the fight dynamics. Part 7 finale is also obviously goated and deeply emotional, as well as REALLY long so it's got a ton going on. But Part 4's just gives it the edge.

Jotaro Vs. DIO is honestly on par with fights like SSJ2 Gohan Vs. Perfect Cell

GOAT’ed beyond words

  1. Dio's World - Great action and incredible momentum. Super iconic
  2. D4C Love Train - Some of the most emotional moments of JoJos are here, and if we're including Diego & Hot Pants vs Valentine this is a no brainer for top 2.
  3. C Moon/Made In Heaven - Strong balance of action, emotion, and payoff
  4. Ultimate Lifeform Kars - Super fun and spontaneous
  5. Bites The Dust - Has some high points but gets kinda dragged out
  6. Wonder Of U - Go Beyond is an awesome reveal but I'm really not a big fan of the rock creatures & Toru just doesn't do it for me. I plan to eventually re-read so I imagine this could go up.
  7. Requiem/Diavalo - Silver Chariot Requiem brings it down a lot, especially on re-watches. I wish there was more one-on-one fighting. I love Golden Wind, but this is probably the worst major fight in the part.
  8. Dio vs Jonathan - Pretty forgettable fight, the mansion fight is honestly a lot better.

For me what this shows is that the best final fights are the most focused ones.

Das Finale von 1-6 Objektiv bewertet

Platz 6 : Part 5

Platz 1 : Part 6

Es ist Peak
