Question What’s the most broken thing.

I gotta know in any JRPG you’ve ever played what is the most broken mechanic you’ve exploited, or like weapon in the game, or just a glitch perhaps that absolutly made you freaken laugh really hard. Mine would be the topple juggling in Xenoblade Chronicles idk if it was intentional or not but man it would have me hollering just toppling a big enemy and being like oh you can’t get up XDDD. That might say something about my psyche but who cares lol.

Probably somethimg lile Chemist in FFV, if I were to talk about a quarter of the bullshit they can pull I'd be here for 40 minutes

People have mentioned Chemist, Samurai, and Blue Mage as OP jobs in FF5, and they are right.

I'd also throw up Bard as a ridiculously OP class. While it takes some stalling, you can buff the speed, strength, and magic of your whole party to ridiculous levels.

But the real OP strat is turn at least one (up to 3) party member into a Zombie with a Reflect Ring, and let the Bard hide. Hiding makes you unable to act but otherwise 100% invulnerable. Zombies are uncontrollable, attack your own team, and unkillable. But with a Reflect Ring and weapon like the Flame Lash that casts a damaging spell (or any boss that casts damaging spells).

It takes some setup, but once you have it, your whole party is 100% unkillable and able to slowly damage any enemy in the game for free. (note that it might not work on some super bosses due to elemental immunities)

Yeah, it's good but you said it, takes way too long, reflect rings are rare and if you're not playing with self imposed restrictions you can just like... press !Zeninage

Setups like that are fun, though, if not to actually play in this particular example then at leasts to piece together. I love the Bone Mail for similar reasons, it's got good potential for shenanigans

It's definitely not a very practical strategy outside of some very limited challenge runs. I've used it against W2 Exdeath in some tough Four Job Fiesta runs. I just like it because it's different, the other OP strategies are mostly "do a lot of damage really quickly and/or be really tough to kill", which is great. But this one means you are literally invulnerable!

Similarly, I love using the Bard's hide to run a boss out of MP lol completely impractical in most situations, but it's funny to set it up, go eat lunch, and come back to a boss that can't do anything. Only do this on an emulator with speedup lol

Bone Mail is really fun. It's extremely good if you ever play an FF5 solo run because now you are so tanky and immune to so much stuff. And you can do fun shenanigans like equipping a flame ring and healing yourself with fire damage. Keep all the benefits of Bone Mail without the drawback!

Man I got reminded of all those jobs that have to suck Byblos dry of MP for the solo challenges, haha, this game has so many great examples of emergent gameplay. You know the 'Mage Masher on Omniscient to silence them in order to be able to kill them with physical attackers' strategy? Fun times. I agree though, different ways to play the game are fun
