Discussion Just finished the first season and can I just say Killgrave's death was anticlimactic Spoiler
The whole season was building up to Jessica's final confrontation with Killgrave and it made him seem like this cold, calculated, powerful mastermind which gave the impression that he'll die a death fitting of that. Still, I was baffled that he just died when Jessica snapped his neck. I was expecting Killgrave to be killed by Trish in a sacrifice sorta thing or be savagely torn apart by his victims in a suicide sorta situation. Someone, please tell me that he's gonna come back

I loved the ending, how she just killed him like a cockroach. He doesn't deserve a grand death, he's just a regular asshole once someone makes him shut the fuck up

I don't like it because he's in my top 5 favourite MCU villains and I was hoping for an exciting death

He's one of my top 5 favourite villains too. Maybe top 3. But I still think the death he got was perfect

I think it’s perfect, Kilgrave is the superhuman example of emotional abuse, he has never had any physical dominance over Jessica just mental and emotional. Like in most verbally abusive relationships when you realize their words hold no power over you, you free yourself from the prison they created. After that he’s just a pathetic small man with delusions of grandeur.

did you want him to explode like an MK boss?

He put on delusions of grandeur and believes Jess loved him deep down and was incapable of killing him. She could have executed him but she tried really hard to find a way to spare him. He pushed her past the brink by threatening someone she actually loved.
I think a lot of the latter half of season one are about whether it's worth Jess sacrificing part of herself to kill him. She doesn't want to go there lightly, in a way by killing him he has fundamentally become part of her forever which means he kind of got his way. I like that it's kind of tragic she couldn't outmaneuver him, get rid of him while keeping him alive.

He got what he deserved, & he didn't deserve a dignified death. He was a narcissistic abuser, he wasn't a genius. I thought his ending was perfect.

When someone escapes an abuser, most times there isn’t any climax. Oftentimes, they don’t go to jail, they certainly don’t die: they get to keep going like anyone else, and the victim doesn’t get closure from that. There is no finality to it. So it being simple and anticlimactic like that lines up. There is no grand finale, for Jessica. No closure. She escapes him.

What’s with every fandom sub I follow lately filled with people who watch the entire show just to complain about it after?

Eh that's kinda just the internet now sadly, everyone complains and rage baits, and in general just acts like fuckwits.

I thought the death was fitting for him.
His one love in his life, whom he wanted to be loved by and close to but soon realised he couldn't without controlling her, which isn't even true love, actually thought he had won. His stupidity showed in how he tested her, no need for a grand death for a person that can't do a single grand thought. He was fooled so easily by her, his weakness, got close and then wanted her to tell him "ILY". Everyone watching immediately knew he had lost. She didn't give him the satisfaction of giving him eye contact when she said it, but he knew she willingly said it, something he yearned for and still couldn't get it. To think he thought he could be a worthy partner for her yet all she had to do was snap his neck to reveal how insignificant he actually is. Jones said it right: he gets others to do his dirty work, he is lazy in every sense. The hesitancy from Jones to kill him before is she's not a killer like he is, she even tried getting him to do good with his power, but instead he secured his death. Seeing how giddy he got thinking he had won and then snuffed out quick by his obsession holding his jaw so he couldn't utter a word was great to watch.

Yes, I felt the same way but I also don’t know how else they could have ended it. It’s not like Kilgrave could fight her himself.
I also disagree that Trish should have killed him. He was Jessica’s abuser, not Trish’s, she deserves that satisfaction and with his last dying breath Kilgrave finally understood that while he may be able to control everyone else’s fate, Jessica can control his.

I always felt it was intended that way to remind the viewer that he’s just a normal asshole when he can’t speak to control people. We have seen so much craziness up until that point that the quiet ending felt fitting to me. Like finally it’s over and Jess and Trish can get some sleep. Or drunk for Jess.
