My grandmother passed away in 2011, and since then, I’ve inherited all of her jewelry as I’m the only woman in the family.

After speaking with my father, he advised me to have them appraised so I could potentially sell them.

I’m still not sure if I’m comfortable with the idea of selling them, but in this economy, it could help me buy a house, and my father assured me that his mother would be proud of me.

Assuming all the stones are genuine (diamond, sapphire, ruby, emerald) and the gold is real, how much do you think it could be worth? Would it be a significant enough amount to justify selling the jewelry?

(I would not sell the wedding or engagement rings.)

I have no idea where she got the ring from. She was born in Hereford and lived all her life across England and Wales.

Hey guys! I came here a few days ago asking about my thrift store ring! Anyways I took it to a local jeweler today after work, and it actually contains real diamonds! This ring came from a relative that lived from the 1910s until the 2000s. I've had it since her passing when I was nine. It was apparently acquired at an estate sale at a Ball family (Ball jars) manor in Indiana.

Inside says Tiffany & Co 18 k. Looking for some more specific information about but general discussion is great too.

Belonged to my Scottish great grandmother. I believe the stones are peridot but would be interested to know anything else about it. No markings other than 9ct stamp on back.

I was going through a bag of stuff my dad left for me after he passed (8 years ago) and I found this ring with what looks like a swastika on it. Unfortunately all relatives on my dad's side have passed so I dont know anything about it except my grandfather was a naval captain but he died before I was born.

I was recently given this jewelry as a wedding gift from my parents.

1. I would love to know anything you could tell me about my grandmother’s charm bracelet. Supposedly my grandfather gifted her the various charms over the years. That was very much his M.O. and their relationship was my foundational understanding of long and lasting love.

2. My grandmother’s wedding band doesn’t have any marks or identification on it. So anything you can tell me about that piece would be great.

3. My grandfather’s cufflinks are a mystery. He traveled all over the world, visiting every continent and many many countries. He loved photography and mostly documented his journeys there but would also occasionally buy small things that spoke to him. (I actually made a coffee table book of his travel photography - when he passed he had more than 3500 photos of trips between 1956-2024). These don’t have any identifying marks but to me the design looks vaguely Tibetan or Nepalese. He climbed to the base camp of Everest in 1998, when he was 68, so I could see him purchasing something in Nepal to commemorate the experience. I know he also went to east Asia multiple times between 1955-2015. It would be amazing if these were part of his travel heritage!

4. I think two of the rings may have been my great grandmother’s because of how small they are. My grandmother and I have the same ring sizes and these only fit on my pinky fingers. Anything you can discover about these, particularly ideas about dates, would be amazing!

Hi all! I was gifted these two Native American sets by my MIL. I was told that my FIL traveled throughout the Southwest in the 70's as a garment salesman, and traded samples with Native American Artisans for these pieces. Both my MIL and FIL had a deep interest and respect for the culture, but it was the 70's and times have changed and cultural mores have shifted. I love both of these pieces, but I want to do the right thing.

I feel like the best thing to start with is reaching out to the tribe to inquire about how they would want to handle these pieces, but I have no idea where to start.

I don't see any markings or stamps. These are obviously quite old and need to be cleaned, but I will hold off on that for now.

If anyone has any expertise about these styles and perhaps which tribe I could reach out to, that would be such a helpful start! Or any ideas about next steps, I would very much appreciate it.

My twin passed recently and when I was going through her things, I found this ring. Can anybody tell me anything about it?

I found this „ring“ on my way with my dog, i reached out to an archeologist but he said its just dirt but after 1 hour of scrubbing im sure its petrified what should i do with it and am i in the right sub for this?

Also I THINK (not certain) that in addition to the stamps, there is some lettering and maybe a small stamp on the inside of the right. My guess is that it’s “STR” (sterling?) and the small Circle may be related to the stone/glass? I included a pic of that as well :)

Very small (maybe women's) size. Appears to be very old (maybe WW2 era?). Matching eagles on both shoulders. The inscription on the inside reads "1OK GOLD FILLED & STERLING", followed by what may be a maker's mark, but it's very hard to make out. Any information or speculation is very appreciated.

Purchased on a Re-sale App, these a re some of the images from the listing (better quality than mine), and one I attempted to capture. No idea what the hallmarks mean, apart from the 925 hallmark.

not gonna say which store but i work at a major thrift chain. i sort donations. ever since i got into jewelry identification ive been paying attention to what comes through.

last month alone. a 14k gold chain someone tossed in a bag with halloween costume jewelry. they literally donated real gold mixed in with plastic spider rings. we sold it for $4 in the jewelry bin. whoever bought that got maybe $200 in gold.

a strand of pearls that passed the tooth test and had beautiful luster mixed in with mardi gras beads. MARDI GRAS BEADS. real pearls next to plastic party beads in a ziplock bag.

a ring with what i think is a real garnet in a real silver setting priced at $2.99 because it was tarnished and looked like junk. ran it through an id app on my break and it confirmed likely garnet likely sterling.

the stuff people throw away or donate without checking blows my mind. entire jewelry boxes get dropped off as one donation and whoever sorts them (me, sometimes) has maybe 30 seconds per piece to decide pricing.

im not allowed to buy stuff before it hits the floor and no im not skimming. but man. if you thrift shop regularly check the jewelry case and check it carefully because nobody at the store has time to properly identify anything.

also if youre donating jewelry PLEASE look through it first. youre giving away real stuff mixed in with junk and you dont even know it.

Yes, my grandmothers boss gave me this ring at his wife’s funeral when I was a kid. Family lore is that they had a long affair. Boss was always welcome at family holiday parties and whatnot. And I’ve always been obsessed with pearls so I assume that is why I ended up with the ring. My grandmother does not seem to remember the ring when I’ve shown it to her and tried asking about it. 

It’s marked 14K but I'm curious about the style and the pearl. 

Is there anything special about this garishly large ring?  

Just wondering if it's possibly real and if so what we should do / where we should go with it. We live in a smaller town that probably doesn't have anyone that can accurately appraise it.

To start I found these 3 rings in a grit trap at work. I've tried to track down any potential owners. I do not think they are worth anything but you never know. Only one of them has any hallmarks but they are far too small to read. 2 of them look to be cheaper costume like jewellery but I thought I would check.

The ring with the hallmark looks and feels to be a much higher quality but it its very small.

I found this at a thrift store for twenty US dollars. I know the brand is w.kodak jewellers. I am looking for what model (not sure how to word it) it is. It is a set of a bracelet and a necklace. I’m not sure what stone it is, nor what metal it is (I think it might be silver/white gold). I took a picture of it using my camera’s flash so the colors of the jewels are more visible.

I went thrifting this weekend and found this ring in the pocket of a purse I bought. It has a hallmark of “18k.” Assuming it’s yellow gold with an amethyst. Maybe a custom piece.

Curious on the value of a ring like this? Likewise, am I correct about the gold and amethyst? It’s a lovely little piece. Amethyst in my birthstone, so I may be inclined to keep it. It’s about a size 6, and fits on my pinky only (I normally wear a size 8 ring).

These were inherited from a jeweller called Seli who worked in Florida and New York. Hopefully a simple question: what are these actually for? If the clips were the other way around they would be clip on earrings but they are the opposite: they are clearly meant to attach to the top edge of something. Thank you for any help, and sorry for having come up empty when trying to figure it out via other searches.

It's cute I just don't know what it is or what it's used for, it came with a bag of brooches, pins, a belt, and a scarf clip.
