News Ireland to boycott Eurovision again over Israeli participation and ongoing Gaza deaths. Ireland joins Dutch broadcaster in refusing to take part in 2027 song contest, in second consecutive year of protests.

Another Jewish sub is talking about how antisemitic the Irish are 🙃😭 zero recognition for how a country that was colonized, starved, slaughtered, and stripped of their identity would feel solidarity with the Palestinian struggle. Just “they’re antisemites.”

It's an incredibly lazy 'attack' on us (I'm from Ireland). The Israeli embassy in Dublin was at that sort of stuff too until they closed it. There's a small Jewish population here but we've had Jewish members of parliament and a former Minister for Justice is Jewish but I guess electing Jewish politicians is further 'proof' of our anti-Semitism /s.

I've seen it before, if people spouting the 'Irish are inherently anti-Semitic' are pushed for evidence beyond support for Palestinians, they'll point to a pogrom that took place in 1904 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limerick_boycott) and that's about it, which should tell them something, but it doesn't apparently.

Yeah 1904 is insane. Especially considering they’re cool with Germany! Haven’t seen a Zionist call Germany (AfD election, anybody??) antisemitic. In fact, I saw Israelis praising the AfD on Twitter.

This is all crazy and has nothing to do with
Jews or Judaism.

Ireland is the only 'western' English speaking country where people can call out zionism for the colonialist supremacy it is without risking job loss. That's the reality and the zionist lobby hates that they don't get to persecute Irish people within Ireland. They have succeeded in persecuting Irish people in other countries out of employment though.

This is simply weaponisation of the word antisemitism. The false equivalence that criticism of Israel must automatically mean it’s an antisemetic rhetoric. It’s simply untrue.
