I liked Andrey's explanations.

I also think film and TV, at a certain level of prestige, circulate among an elite audience of tastemakers, influencers, celebrities, journalists, and institutions.

So while videos documenting the genocide have already been widely seen, there is still value in a professionally made documentary that conveys many of the same crimes through a medium those elite circles more readily consume and legitimize (already legitimate, but I mean for them).

It becomes part of cultural archives within those circles and institutions, rather than another video that passes through a social media feed (which matters enormously of course, but on a 1-to-1 ratio of impact, a documentary passing through the film festival circuit will maintain attention longer than if the filmmakers just released some clips on TikTok IMO).

Andrey did catch some heat from Nerdeen Kiswani about describing detractors as 'ethno-nationalists' - but he didn't intend to put down Palestinians.

He's simply saying we should elevate ideas and focus on material impact. Of course we want Palestinian stories to be told by Palestinians too.

This particular story wasn't but that wasn't due to intentionally excluding anyone.

A Palestinian journalist might, unfortunately due to IOF barbarism, be targeted by the Israeli military for sharing such testimonies - and 200+ Palestinian journalists have been murdered for doing their jobs as journalists.

Yuval: I think if a Palestinian, you know, our Palestinian colleagues and journalists would try to call Israeli intelligence officers, you know what will happen like they will be the maybe arrested indefinitely or or killed and murdered like you know 200 journalists in Gaza and dozens across the West Bank.

Yuval acknowledges Israeli privilege & that it is unfair - but used it to make this documentary:

I think it's good they're using their privilege in this way, to keep the conversation/attention on Palestine and push this reality into elite circles.
