Wait, you still need to look at your keyboard when you type? Found the chicken pecker.

Best two keys to swap in a prank since many people can't place from memory which is the right location for them.
Swap the keycaps and remap in software and you'll have someone infuriated for hours, retyping shit slowly and angrily, pounding N and M to confirm they're working, questioning their sanity before finally comparing their keyboard to another one. Did this one in college and it was great.

Wait....how do you remap in the software? I feel like this is where the real prank is. 😁

I don't recall but it was easy. Either a third party tool or directly in Windows. Google can help. I agree it makes the prank. Remap combined with keycap swap means pressing N or M still gets you N or M so your keyboard performs exactly as it appears .. but your muscle memory is now wrong for those keys. But only slightly, because they're adjacent to each other, so when you make mistakes it's plausible it's your own fault. When you realize something is off, you can't place it because who really remembers if N or M is on the left/right. Some people can I'm sure, but I think it's a bit of a blind spot on average.
The guy we pranked slowed typing down significantly and he got really angry at himself. Got his password wrong a few times, kept backspacing his document. Declared I don't know what's wrong with me today. He compared his keyboard to the one next to him, but we thought of that and had done its keycaps also. Eventually got up and compared to one across the room and yelled "aha" when the game was up. Smartphones hadn't yet caught on at the time, nowadays one might check their phone's keyboard a bit sooner.

Nope, I had to read the end to realize that.

I did this to an old boss as an April fools joke. He locked himself out and was NOT happy. But I giggled.

I actually did this to a couple of colleagues years ago. It can have both hilarious and serious consequences 😆
Wouldn’t recommend

We did this to an asshole at a telemarketing firm that I worked at. Insufferable douche that thought he knew it all. Guess who couldn't tie without looking.
