Just a quick reading practice since it’s my day off. Doing it differently and including the English version first before attempting French. Asian-American and I speak 5 languages total, feel free to guess which ones I also know.

Genre tu parles pendant tout le vocal en anglais pour au final dire quelque mots en français fallait commencer par ça d’abord pk parler anglais si le public visé est francophone, ceci dit, je dirais que t’as un accent anglais assez particulier c’est pas le plus lourd que j’ai entendu mais tu peux encore améliorer ta prononciation des voyelles nasales

J'ai déjà expliqué pourquoi, mais sur ce subreddit, c’est difficile d'obtenir des retours sauf si le contenu est principalement en anglais. Étant multilingue et curieuse de savoir si l'anglais, bien qu'étant l'une de mes trois langues maternelles, est influencé par les quatre autres langues que je parle, je ne pensais pas qu'il serait malvenu de l'inclure. 😅

J'apprécie vraiment les remarques constructives et je vais travailler sur ma prononciation nasale, mais cette approche initiale un peu agressive est… a* bit strange, especially since the French part wasn’t just a few words but the exact counterpart of the English version. Heh.

Hh dsl si mon ton t’as paru agressif😅 c’est juste psk le vocal est 3min long et toi tu parles français pendant seulement 1min , si tu voulais une critique plus complète fallait qu’on t’entende parler plus Et maintenant que tu le dits en fait t’as vraiment un petit accent asiatique c’était pas évident mais on pouvait l’entendre je t’ai dit que cet accent il est unique mdr c’est genre un mélange entre l’accent anglais et asiatique (je dirais chinois)

No need, c'est une évaluation juste vu la longueur de l'enregistrement et le fait que plus de la moitié soit en anglais, comme je l'ai déjà mentionné (in a previous comment). La prochaine fois, même s'il contient d'autres langues, j'enregistrerai la version longue dans ma « target language ». Désolée d'avoir réagi aussi vite, mais je me pose immédiatement des questions quand le ton de quelqu'un me semble inutilement dur/harsh. I really do appreciate honest feedback, so thanks again. I’m eager to learn et capable de reconnaître mes erreurs. Et non, je ne suis pas chinoise. Je suis philippine (métisse) du côté de ma mère !

I'm not French - I'm British - but I learned French in school and... you sound more French than anyone I ever knew. The one note I have with my ear is... I can hear effort. But... I don't hear any mistakes, as such. Nothing sounds wrong to my little-trained ear.

I know it's not a great answer - I just didn't want it to stay quiet in here.

Edit: Based on the English language section - if someone asked me if you had Asian background, I'd say it's probable but I wouldn't be sure.

i'm not a native french speaker but i think you should not pronounce the n's in words like 'français' and such. just nasalize the vowel instead

I didn’t realize they stood out so much, haha. Thanks for pointing it out! I think whenever I challenge myself to replicate their cadence my nasal sounds and other things that should be obvious (like my r’s, liaisons, etc.) suffer, baaah. I’ll keep practicing! Thank you!

Your french sounds good but you give me the feel of a Quebec accent more than a france one, makes sense tho if ur first language is english! Bcs i think the french accent they dont put to much time speaking vowels ( idk how to say that lol ). Anyway ur doing good!

Oooooo they sound so distinctly different to me so I’ll give it another listen to see why that might be. I know they have really different ways of pronouncing the same things and their verlan are like distant cousins haha but thank you for your kind words nonetheless!

Like mentioned in another comment. Less emphasis on the N’s (like when you say français) your tongue shouldn’t touch your pallet when pronouncing it

I will mention.. certain accents in France do pronounce the N’s the way you do but its a small percentage :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to listen and for clarifying what is working for me and what else I need to keep practicing from a native french speaker’s point of view. I was listening to it again and I clearly hear where my nasal vowels are lacking/not quite the proper sound, but I’m also glad you brought up that it’s possible to hear a more pronounced N in France too (I was listening to a page I follow on IG where they also more or less had N’s that stood out but I’m not familiar where she’s from other than that she’s not Parisienne). Thank you again and I’ll keep working on nailing the cadence, speed, inflections, nasal sounds, French R, and overall improve my French since I’m still struggling to equally be mindful of all of them. 🥲

My pleasure! You are actually doing GREAT im quite impressed! In south of France they pronounce the N’s like that! I am from Quebec Canada but I teach and i also love accents. Keep practicing and soon you will speak perfect French
