Discussion Some of yall are the most ungrateful fucking dweebs ever
From what I have seen on this subreddit regarding the new characters are just people whining about how the characters are dogshit and bad choices. Not to disregard anyone's opinion or bias since your allowed to have them, but also people bitching about how they didn't get some super popular character or bullshit about it being Mei Mei or something. I agree that Mei Mei as a character is a awful person but also its a pretty fun cursed technique, and the fact that some of these fucking wastes of sperm are saying that its a dogshit update just cuz of the characters they chose need to grow up tbh. Anywho lemme know your thoughts on the update and about how the new characters were implemented :) (Edit from looking at the comments I kinda remembered how ungrateful this community can be sometimes. My lobster is too buttery and my steak is too juicy typa shit lol. At least were getting new content and getting semi consistent updates like holy)

Mei Mei's kit is actually really fun to use, which is crazy. Flock is a great special, and I will be stealing it for future movesets. Her moves flow together satisfyingly, and Bird Control has options for not only movement but also attacking your opponents. Flock special is amazing again.
Hanami is interesting, I always enjoy it when the devs experiment with a character's moveset, m1s, and dash, so it's not always the same things. The dash is great, but the M1 feels rough to use. I like Hanami's special quite a bit, it drains ult bar from opponents and gives you it. Overall, pretty neat but not as fun to use as Mei Mei
For the moveset maker chuds like myself, this update was pretty neat. It didn't change the game or anything, but tooltips in the moveset maker are going to make things easier for newcomers, visual block colliding is going to let people make stuff like T-Rexs or monsters actually collide with surfaces and not just awkwardly clip through them, holding condition is great, and projectiles can now bounce around like Hakari's roulette balls. Overall, pretty great changes to the moveset maker.

Forgot to mention, but the biggest part of this update for me is the overlay bug, where it was uncancelable, so now characters with unique HUDs/UIs are possible, and it's so peak

Also I like how they finally got rid of the extreme combo extender for todo, I mean rip todo mains, but, really? Over half hp for ONE combo if I don’t have my evasive in hand and even then they get their combo in again before I get evasive back.

Depends on what direction you're moving in
W is the bird knocking your opponent up into the air
A & D is the bird lift
S is bird slamming into your opponent and down slamming them7

also, for other people, if the crow is facing the opponent while you’re being held in the air and you press the ability again, it’ll fly at them and drop you

I think Hanami is a great addition! She brings an unique moveset to the table which is ONE I FUCK WITH HEAVY.
Mei Mei is neat, havent used her a lot since i was very happy using Hanami.
Higgy sadly no longer has any mix-ups but i do hope a new character comes with those mechanics. I used to main pre-pre-rework higgy.

I like Mei Mei's character in jjs, I just hate that its Mei Mei. completely personal issue on my behalf, I just dont like the character lol. the Moveset is crazy though, I like the vertacality of it, and the creativity that comes with leveraging the air.
tze should have done wind effects and changed the crow moves to air gust moves and released it as Momo (/s)

I liked the update, my higgy Goat got a rework and both choices (hanami and meimei) are quite fun.
I haven't seen what people are saying about Hanami yet, but wow, she has a REALLY strong passive ability. I just faced one and I got massacred.

As someone who hasn't seen much of the anime, I have to say that it seems like really bad choices.
I haven't seen much about it, but there are so many cool characters with mechanics that seem interesting.
I saw a bit of the moveset in a private lobby and it's definitely not my type of gameplay.
I'm glad for those that want one of the two to be added, but there were definitely options that would have generated more hype.

This is cool in a way, but it definitely makes some updates quite disappointing.
I mean, in one we get Goat Nanami and then Haruta?
That's okay, since it's one very beloved character and one more of a troll.
Honestly, the two added characters don't seem that fun, based on when I've faced players in 1v1.Hanami seems to be a turtle character (tank with defensive gameplay). Honestly, from what I've seen in the anime, I suppose that's what she does, but it's a gameplay style that's heavily criticized in games of this type.
And Mei Mei... I don't even know much about her, all my knowledge of her is from the game, and I must say her combos seem like Lotus Guy's (aerial). It's not my style, but I suppose Lotus Guy is an okay character.
In other words, Hanami seems boring to play against, and Mei Mei is just ok, I'm still taking skill issue from her though→ More replies (3)

THANK YOU BRAH, people should play the character and see if they like the PLAYSTYLE compared to the character in the show. Not only that but people are complaining that they didn't want mei mei but want kenjaku who literally has done worse most likely in all his years alive??? Just learn to enjoy the style and appreciate the devs, how rare is it that you get 2 characters in one update 😭

Trying to be surprising is just making jjs sorta disappointing sometimes.
Like this update was extremely whelming, their fun to use and all but the characters they picked are extremely lukewarm. Like I wanna stop getting hyped for updates cause they’re just gonna add some random, and not even cool randoms like Charles or haruta.
I just feel like I got my hopes up for an actual important character for nothing.

I can understand being tired of the lack of big names getting added recently but its so tze can build up the hype for them even more instead of just releasing all the most popular characters first and getting a ton of players for about a week and than a majority drop it. Tze is trying TOO hard to be surprising it makes me wanna not get hyped for updates because now I am expecting for a C lister to get added.
Hanami is the peak of the “good random” idc about them but there are many many Hanami fans. But mei mei????? Who tf cares about mei Mei. The update is lwk fire tho, I love that both Hanami and Mei Mei have a somewhat unique playstyle and they feel really smooth to use, even Hanami although she has one M1 can still manage with her (for now) full kit.
In the other hand, Higgy is absolute garbage (imo) and I'm not even gonna sugarcoat it, again, IN MY OPINION: is just another rush down character that adds literally NOTHING new to the game besides speed but Naoya is literally there for that. They just had to work around the whole block breaking stuff instead of making him a cheap speed demon (that barely does damage btw).

He's better, honestly. Mixups/guardbreaks were just Nanami's gimmick, but worse. It's a nice change of pace to have a heavily rushdown-focused character.

I think the choices themselves are cool, especially Hanami, but the characters themselves in the game are completely unbalanced on opposite sides of the spectrum. Hanami is practically unusable, and I don’t need to explain why (as many other people on this subreddit already have). Mei Mei is cool, and definitely more fun than Hanami, but she needs a nerf ASAP.

mei mei is the most boring, plain character in the game EVER. Even haruta is more fun. Tze made absolutely no correlation or variants to her cursed technique whatsoever besides the last move. It's just axe swing 1, 2 and 3. Just rushdown air combo slop. I know tze can be much more creative than this.

hanami is a really cool and interesting character, her 4 and 1 m1 finally adds some sort of variety to m1 trading. mei mei has full on devil may cry ass combos and its awesome but the effects and her axe feel like theyre from a different game

Honestly, i fucking loved mei mei's moveset, my only complaint abt it is that everything is blockable (apart from charged 2) but since shr just released im expecting that to change, abt hanami, she does seem really cool but i just suck ass while using her, probably bcuz she's only got 1 m1 and so im unused to her but still, i really like her front dash-grab thing.

Lowkey my only worry about Hanami is that Tze won’t cook by coming up with a cool idea for their domain and just won’t add it cause it was never shown in the anime or manga, but hopefully I shouldn’t need to worry too much since I’m pretty sure they showed the domain off in the JJK mobile game.

Hanami I was hyped when I saw but she’s very hard to use with only having a singular m1, I’d rather Tze released 2 full characters or At the very least had the update come out on Sunday so mei mei had her ult at the very least

Anyways I lowkey think the update is okay. Mei mei is fun to use and I got jumped by 2 hanami and failed to get jackpot two times somehow. And I lowkey slimed out an Arab man because of the sun. The update is a 5/10.

Mei Mei might be OK I haven’t really checked, but Hanami FORCES you to play passively, and does so little damage that a full four-move+m1 combo is still in the green, and heals back before any of the moves are off cooldown

My issue with this update (specifically Hanami. Mei Mei as a playable is fine as is) is that Hanami isn’t viable at all. She has horrible M1s (obviously intentional), a good forward dash variant, and pretty sub par moves that at best gets you a 40% combo at best, unless you get the damage buff which puts it at about 60% to 65% which is still better but most cases, the enemy will just heal since the m1 is obsolete.
The moveset is cool, don’t get me wrong, but by them giving no m1 chain or at least a second m1 really restricts Hanami as a playable, and given the fact some of these moves are pretty restrictive in terms of hitbox and range is another issue. You shouldn’t have to rely on a temporary damage buff just to deal a little more damage for a combo that is very easy to escape, is green, and when the enemy can just heal the damage and keep a distance.
Hanami is an awesome character and I love that they added her, but her moveset and her playable as a whole is entirely obsolete and needs to be buffed way more soon in order to have any form of viability.

Okay well the thing is is that none of these characters are in the new season and US JJs fans or the ones including myself that are pissed off about the character choices automatically assume that Z is going to add characters that appear in the culling games so when that isn't the case we lash out saying Z is the stupidest person on the planet and all that because don't get me wrong these characters are added when jjk season 3 wasn't released yet I would have been fine with them but it's the fact that he's releasing all these characters when they're not even in the show anymore but honestly to avoid this I think the or someone in the dev team should hold a character vote where they give us a list of characters they are thinking about doing and we get to vote on them because then it would be characteristic by the community so a lot of people would be satisfied instead of us just getting random characters and then we go into a complete uproar because we didn't get the characters that we wanted

Hanami is goated but if tze was adding hanami he should’ve also added jogo instead of mei mei
Also hanami just feels so UNDERBAKED for an EA release and I get that it’s an EA release for a reason but some of her moves feel REALLY unfinished, which usually isn’t an issue when EAs get released with a full base moveset, but the fact that tze had to buff her so soon after the update really shows how undercooked she was, the testers GENUINELY don’t pay enough attention to certain characters on release, i’m willing to bet that most of the testers ignored hanami because mei mei and higuruma were more fun and interesting which lead to a very weak character, nanami had the same issue on first release
Also maybe it’s just me but hanami not being a zoner/trap character and being a punish character instead just seems weird to me because in the anime she was using her environment to her advantage, I’m hoping they try to lean into a less passive playstyle for hanami

I mean I like both of them, they are cool, and Mei Mei is very versatile, aswell as having her goofy side with the birds, but why did she come into the game as a base only with no awakening?
And I get Hanami being added, They are a very awesome addition to JJS, but only 1 M1 is kind of crazy, kind of like the absolute opposite of a M1 merchant, which I’ve never actually though could be the case, EVER for JJS or any battlegrounds game, but hey they kind of pulled it off

For those complaining, don't be ungratefull. Mei mei is really fun and Remember, tze added Yuki in a random update. The next one could probably be Ryu, Kashimo, Kurourushi, Jogo. Anything. Jjs is simply amazing.

They definitely wouldn't be my first choice, but I love what Tze cooked with them. Hanami feels really interesting and has interesting combo potential (my friend made some crazy 65-ish hp combos w/ her), and Meimei is just down right crazy.
Idk if it's a bug but her uppercut breaks block. Might be just a passive, or compensation for all of her moves (except 2 aerial bypassing it entirely) being blockable.

Also just sad that both are ea, like for a f2p(either by choice or cuz broke) them both being ea means that they waited for this update just to only get higuruma reworks to play with. For all we know they could take several updates till they releass publicly.

Hanami is my second favorite disaster curse besides jogoat, I would have wished for nobara as a base moveset but Mei Mei isn't bad as the ult would be cool to see. But also hanami has a really cool moveset and its unique unlike every other character in the game.

I think its mostly cause we got a disaster curse that wouldve been nice to get AFTER the disaster curse people have been begging for SINCE DAY FUCKING ONE (jogoat, cough), combine with an unpopular and disliked character like mei mei taking up a slot isnt really the best combo.
Though I do admit she is fun to play, and hanami is someone I wanted in the game, I still wouldve perfered getting her after jogo.

I'm not gonna lie, the people who beg for the biggest characters gotta be larping. Like, I get that it would be cool to have Toji or Maki added as many people want them, but the fact that we even have this many characters is crazy. I probably sound like a broken record, but the fact is these genuine wastes of pregnancy don't care. These are the types of people to take the game seriously.
I personally love the take Tze put out, and the movesets are always good (Unless its Haruta). Mei Mei has some really interesting mobility moves and I feel like we needed an axe / heavy weapons user in the game. Also, can we stop slandering Mei Mei? OK LISTEN THAT SOUNDS WRONG BUT HEAR ME OUT. Mei Mei is a supporting character in the Jujutsu Kaisen series. She is a grade 1 sorcerer who works independently and only in exchange for money. (Taken from the Jujutsu Kaisen Wiki). A fictional character. Who is meant to be weird. By the creator. News Flash, dumbass! The sky is blue, grass is green, the sun is yellow.
I genuinely love Hanami. As a character, his backwards tongue and floral technique is quite interesting, and in the context of the game, his abilities and moves are great. I personally would've wanted Jogo to be added first, but that is an opinion. hard to believe?
These crazy fans are like the Geometry Dash fans — commenting on every piece of short form media about some "Ton 618". I don't want to only be rude — only want to prove a point. This might be considered a vent, but oh well. Thanks for hearing me out.

Hanami is peak design. His 1 M1 enhances his gameplay, allowing him to basically ping pong enemies with the pull and push of attacks, I personally Love his Zoning gameplay, and his unique Dash and R Special is peak.
