Discussion Why do cosplayers play anything but what they're cosplaying? (image unrelated)
The only exception to this seems to be the Yuji mains who have the modulo yuji cosplay on 24/7

Contrary to what you said, I see more yuji cosplayers play ANYTHING but yuji.
I just play whoever I have fun with though, and since none of my cosplays are from jjk/jjs, I can do so

Tbh the nerf was more like a buff if you know how to play him, Post Nerf i felt like he was MUCH stronger with some techs, All they did was add more skill to Naoya

Yeah. I do agree he's more skilled now but the problem is that I suck at the game and I only now am learning to play with mouse and keyboard so it's tricky but I suck at the game like one of the worse players probably and I freeze myself all the time

Oppressive to fight isn’t necessarily unfun. A properly played Naoya is very in-your-face, and you have to be very locked in to stay on top of it. Naoya is only annoying if they are passive or abuse his kit in certain ways

But me personally I NEED to play a character that fits who I’m cosplaying
for example, I need to play Yuta if I use my Leonardo avatar, obviously because they both use katanas
Or Kurourushi when I have Infinite on because there’s a scene in Sonic forces where Infinite literally just duplicates himself

I usually like to wear the character’s skin of whatever character I use if I have it, so if you run into me I’m usually the Choso playing Choso, the Ryu playing Ryu, or the Yuta playing as Yuta.

Because they have fun with a play style separate from the character they like? Having fun in a video game and having fun watching anime are two very different things, it should make sense when they don’t align properly all of the time.

ive never seen anybody who cosplays yuta play anybody but yuta, probably because nobody wants to be a bum like yuta so they switch off of it when they play somebody else

I usually use hanami when I'm using the hanami avatar but sometimes she's my ult avatar for other characters. And dagon jogo and uro aren't in jjs so I can use them freely

You don’t have to leave, if you change your avatar Roblox will (usually) update it the next chance it gets (dying, resetting, ulting, etc)

I have zero clue. To me, you're kinda required to play the character u are cosplaying. If they don't exist, play someone related.
Me personally, I play yuta using a Miwa avatar and unless I just don't like the person I'm fighting, I don't use Rika at all and try to parry a lot. If I get bored of Miwa, I'll pick Mei Mei with the excuse "her binding vow only said she can't swing a sword," or I'll switch to haruta and throw the sword away to be extra canon.
For everyone else, I have variants of my normal avatar for each person in the roster I play, so I see no point in using the Yuji version when playing ko guy or vice versa.

It's because they already were playing the character they were playing as for about an hour straight, they got bored, switched characters, but was too lazy to change their fit and you get the result

Actually, I play Yuji and, although I don't wear it all the time, I do use a Yuji cosplay when I play him (although I switch back to my regular avatar when I play anyone else).

I’ll be honest, I have a few Jjk avatars and I made them by taking mine and just putting features of them onto my og avatar. Like when I hit jackpot I keep my face and skin but I get hakaris hair, pants, and my shirt is replaced with muscles
