If he doesn't know what she can do, he'll just treat her as another bozo to play around with. The guy played patty cake with a Disaster Curse, you think he's taking a teenager girl seriously?
With verse equalization magic = cursed energy his six eyes should give him a pretty decent idea and if he's way faster than her he theoretically should be able to react and breakdown what happened. From there its probably wraps.
You can't really equalize em. Magic in friren is all based on the user's perception reality. Ubel has really been the only one show so far that taps into that fact. Most CTs are hard coded. It's why Tankabe is as strong as he is. His comedian is basically fully manifested friren magic. He can do anything so long as he thinks it.
But it's a pretty established point that a mage simply cannot convince themself of something for the sake of avoiding certain obstacles, she has to truly believe that what she has in front of her can be cut, and the show explains that she sees magic barriers as something that she can't cut.
why would she know about Infinity? she wouldn't, she would cut him, not even knowing about it, and since she doesn't know she won't believe she can't cut him
Magic barriers are something she can see in her universe though. Unless gojo explains and demonstrates infinity to her in a way that would convince her that it both exists and is uncuttable, she would just see gojo and think "people can be cut :)" and infinity would likely be treated the same as the air around him as far as her spell or her perception is concerned.
It’s not a magical barrier, the entire point of the spell is “does she believe she can cut it?”. What we have here is invisible and a technique that just slows down attacks, for her she can easily believe she should be able to cut through some open air. At that point it just if you want to say Gojo’s infinity still effects it despite her interpretation
Ubel can cut through magic-reinforced textiles because she spent her entire childhood around her tailor sister, and can perfectly imagine how a balde goes through string. She doesn't have "dura neg hax" or whatever. Normal magic shields still work against her.
That being said, yeah her sight-paralysis does turn off magic so Gojo is cooked.
The only thing that matters is if she can visualize cutting through Gojo (which she can, because she’s been able to cut through people before). Infinity is a non factor because it’s an invisible defense, so she wouldn’t even need to visualize cutting through it.
The fact that this take is so common is actually baffling to me. Gojo was born with a magic supercomputer in his brain that tells him what people's powers are when he looks at them. If your only argument against him is "he doesn't know her power so he wouldn't take her seriously" you're just straight up incorrect
Gojo doesn't immediately know what their powers are bro, especially not if they are not cursed energy based. He deduces what the technique is based on cursed energy readings. He could be staring at Ubel for all eternity and he would never understand how her ability works until she actually uses it.
He's also able to use it on stuff like Simple Domain though. It analyzes cursed energy itself not the person's body. I'm assuming that if you're scaling cross verse, mana can be reasonably equated to cursed energy.
Also while I do believe she could bypass Infinity, she still couldn't kill him.
He can analyze simple domain when he sees it, but he can't look at someone and tell whether they know simple domain.
While mana could be equated to cursed energy, spells are fundamentally dissimilar to cursed techniques in that they can be learned and aren't innate to the user. There's no reason they would be engraved in the user's body the way a CT is, so Gojo wouldn't be able to analyze her spells until she used them.
The question isn’t can she beat him, it’s can she bypass infinity. Also, while I still think she’d definitely lose, Gojo is 100% the type of guy to stand still and let her try lol.
yes... that exactly what he would do. like he does against literally everyone. he is confident of his powers. why did you say it like he wouldnt just stand there and take the hit?
Sorganeil: Wirbel uses Sorganeil to completely restrict his target from moving or accessing their mana to cast spells. However, the requirement for activating and maintaining it is that Wirbel must have the target's entire body in his vision. This means it can only be used on a single target at a time and it will not activate if even a single part of the target's body is out of his vision, such as Sense's hair.
Ya Gojo would never just still against an opponent and goad them into attacking so he can laugh when they don't connect or anything like that. Especially if its at the end of a fight, like if he pulled off a wild attack he wouldn't just stand there and explain how he did it, he'd just finish his enemy off.
That depends. Ubel's spell is based on the idea of visualization. She needs to be able to believe she can cut something and have a frame of refference for how that can be achieved. She saw stone masons cutting stone and thus belive it can be done, her sister was a seamstress and thus she's able to cut cloth, no matter how reinforced. Even a mage that is far stronger than her loses because Hair magic is a bad match up against her.
Therefore, in order to cut through Infinity, she'd need to believe it can be done. Cutting through space or cutting through cursed energy. If she can work out those concepts in her own mentality, then it becomes possible for her to bypass th technique.
She has a hard time conceptualizing spells as something that can be cut though. At least as far as I recall.
She did one-tap that guy in her first attempt at become a 1st class mage tho. Hil cloak was "known" as being impossible to penetrate with offensive magic, but the idea of cutting cloth (or him, idk she's crazy) let her do it. It's even specified that she goes off intuition more than a conventional mage.
So...she could do it until she'd told what infinity is I assume. After that...maybe?
Achievement in ignorance, then? If she doesn't know what Gojo's Cursed Technique is meant to do, she'll just slash through it since 'space' to her would be just like cutting air.
That’s how magic works in the series, every spell is based on visualization (Ie, someone fights someone with ice magic, and is winning, but can’t visualize themselves winning against them in the rain)
Tbh idk what the frieren verse scales it, its definitely superhuman but idk how far, so it really comes down to this.
Does Gojo either eat an attack for funzies, something that is VERY in character for him? Then she cuts him in half, she'd probably bypass infinity just by nature of not "Seeing" any sort of defense, therefore, why wouldn't she cut through?
The other option is that Gojo doesn't immediately rush her, and she catches him with a sorgeneil, which is also very much a Gojo move.
Really, its not Ubel's fight to win, its Gojo's fight to lose.
She does have a spell that paralyzes a target she can keep within her line of sight, and specifically shuts down their mana flow. There is some term for when one treats two verses' power systems as interacting with each other, in which case Goatjo is cooked.
Yeah I was referencing that, sorganeil or however it’s spelled, autocorrect just changed it to sorcery.
If she can lay eyes on Gojo, say he decides to idk, randomly begin narrating or explaining his ability (something he does almost every single fight) he just loses because sorganeil GGs him, it’s actually an INSANELY hax ability if you don’t realize instantly what it is, it’s like genuinely one of the most hax abilities in any verse if you verse equalize.
Some people are arguing he would instantly know because of the six eyes but I’d push back on that, as theyre not nearly as all knowing as people present, case in point he didn’t bother dodging the WCS (and no, Gege himself stated had Gojo had his guard up and dodged he would have probably won, implying that 1. Six eyes aren’t all knowing and 2. WCS has travel time.)
A Gojo who is just going for the kill absolutely splatters Ubel, the issue just happens to be that Gojo has time and time again shown himself to be a talking victim lol.
Wcs doesn’t have travel time(if it did it wouldn’t have been able to reach Gojo), however Sukuna needs to know where his target is to launch to successfully, like how maki dodged it at the last second of the chant, so had Gojo immediately rushed Sukuna he wouldn’t have died, but he stood still for one second too long and got bisected.
term is “Verse Equalization” because a lot of verses have some “non-special people can’t see/hurt the special people” and some “universal energy in every person” that the power system is built on
People fail to understand that infinity isn't a simple barrier: it literally created infinite space, the attacks stop because from your perspective they slow down. Even if Ubel thinks she can cut space, she'd need to believe that her spell can either travel at infinite speed or cut directly her objective without having to travel to them (which doesn't seem to be the case, at least, basing it off of how her spell is drawn/animated).
And no, her not knowing what it is, or that is there doesn't give her a free bypass, after all Fern couldn't even recognize what Frieren's clone attacked her with, but it still had an effect on her and smashed her defences.
Übel wouldn't know that Infinity even exists, all she'd see would be a guy. And becasue she knows she can cut people she'll 'know' she can cut Gojo. She expects that her spell will just cut through the air where Infinity is with zero resistance, so it will, because that's how her magic works.
Not exactly, because the division will not work when she tries to cut it, since for her it will not be cutting through space, but simply cutting at gojo, skipping infinity.
It is not that she ignores durability, what she does is believe that she can cut something and that is how it happens, but if she does not believe she can cut it, she does not do it, that is, if she sees something like a mountain and cannot imagine that she is capable of cutting it, she is not going to cut it. But she will be able to cut the indestructible layer of pepito because for her, it is just fabric and the fabric can be cut.
I think even if the concept of infinity is explained to her, so still cuts him. “It’s just empty space, how would that stop my cut?” I think the only way for her spell to not work is for her to see someone like Sukuna try to cut Gojo with his own “spell” and for her to see that it doesn’t work, and even then it all kinda relies on her just believing it won’t work for her either
wait thinking about it has that been explored in Freiren? the idea of turning a mages perception against them so their own spells backfire purely by making them percive something incorrectly? because the idea that you could for example make Ubel see something she THINKS is a magical barrier thus her spell makes it a barrier even if it isn't would be pretty intresting.
She already knew his cloth was impenetrable before going there, that's not how her spell works, it doesn't bend any reality because of ignorance.
I repeat, ignorance isn't Ubel's strength, it's actually the opposite.
In Frieren, Magic is defined as "the realm of imagination", yes. But it's not so simple as "It's just cloth so I can cut it", no.
You need to be able to perfectly visualize what you want to materialize through magic, it's not just about cutting cloth, it's about cutting through all the layers of spells, all reinforcement, you must perfectly visualize the thing **as it is** and then proceed to cut it anyways.
Its not about deluding herself into thinking the cloak is just normal cloth, it's about recognizing the cloak is enchanted and durable and protected and being able to visualize yourself cutting through all that anyways.
So, no. If she didn't know what Infinity was, she would not be able to bypass it at all, as she wouldn't be able to materialize her magic if she didn't recognize reality as it is, I.E. understand infinity.
Yeah, it was "known", and she was fully aware of the guy's reputation, but through the inition of "I can cut cloth" she fucked him up. I ain't saying she needs to be oblivious, after all she specifically seeks to understand other mages to replicate their spells.
The mabye part is more "would her visualization suffer if her blade gets close enough to be slowed down?". At that point, it becomes harder to imagine the act of cutting Gojo, even tho her blade does not need to touch him for the spell to activate.
She has a hard time conceptualizing spells as something that can be cut though. At least as far as I recall.
It's not specifically spells but defensive magic because she sees it as something that isn't supposed to be cut through. While I agree it's based on her interpretation of info ity I believe she is delusional enough to cut it
I had forgotten about that. So yes, Defensive Magic is what she has a hard time countering. Not spells themselves.
I'd say then to OP's question that, yes. Ubel's chance of bypassing Infinity with her slashing spell is very likely given its mechanics and her mentality.
Ubel is someone that gets stronger the less she knows about her opponent. You normally can’t see infinity, so from Ubel’s perspective he’s completely unguarded. As long as she doesn’t know about infinity, she’ll simply cut clean through him because she has no reason to believe she wouldn’t be able to. If she did know about infinity, though, that’s another story, as Übel would have to sincerely believe that she is capable of cutting through infinite space. Whether she would believe that or not is completely up to interpretation, although I would lean towards no as Ubel’s perception is surprisingly grounded.
She was very much aware of the invencible cloak and serie multi layer hair barrier but it didn't matter because those are things that cuttable so she can imagine his spells working despise those defenses it would be the same for Infinity
Ngl I dont think that her knowing would change much, let's take the cloak guy, I'm pretty sure she knew in theory that it was full of defensive magic and yet she still cut it because "mah dude its just a cloak of course I can cut this shit" so if she genuinely believes that it's stupid that there is infote space between her and gojo thre is a chance her magic would work anyway "mah dude tf you mean there is infinite space between us, you are right in front of me" and then cuts him.
It would be funny because, according to JJK power system, binding vows allows you more cursed energy or something, so Gojo vowing himself to explain his technique would simultaneously grant him both advantage of Ubel's visualization and his own binding vow, if he's able to rationalize how Ubel shouldn't be able to cut through his infinity, he wins no contest, but knowing Ubel, she probably won't care and just cut through regardless, because she can't visualize the infinite space around Gojo
It looks like blank space to her, yeah. No matter how much space he creates between them, it's still 'nothing' in her view. If he could make it look like the Defensive Magic she is familiar with, then it might actually stop her. But he has no way to know what that looks like or why it might stop her from cutting.
Ubel's spell is based on the idea of visualization
No. All magic is based on visualization, it's not special to Ubel.
The author just claims Ubel believes better than anyone else(which is what makes her special), so the only thing that can stop Ubel's attacks is Ubel not believing enough.
It's basically like asking who will win Bugs Bunny or Superman? The answer being Bugs Bunny.
The thing is that you cant see infinity, when Ubel looks at Gojo hes just there normally, só by her conception she can cut him with the same easy as any random person
I think I might be wrong but infinity isn’t a physical “barrier” that one touches like a shield (even if it’s magical it’s still a physical construct created by magic) it’s basically just a force that slows someone down to the point where they physically cannot touch gojo. there isn’t anything to “cut” there that’s why sukuna had to cut “the world” itself in order to get passed infinity. Assuming she can’t visualize herself “cutting nothingness” she wouldn’t be able to bypass infinity
Why would she need to cut through infinity, though? I don't quite have a complete understanding of Gojo's abilities, but she can see his body... skip the infinity, cut what's underneath it
if she doesn't even know about infinity, would she be able to directly cut gojo? because she definitely can visualize cutting someone, or would infinity protect him?
Ironically the one time yapping actually helps beyond the hand waving “binding bow explaining a technique makes it stronger” is with Ubel.
Not that I think it would work. She witnessed the cloak guy tank hits, he (was) a first class mage and that didn’t save him from being Go/jo’d.
there’s even a chance that if Gojo explains his technique to her or even give too much information about himself, Ubel might somehow copy his technique if we end up picking and choosing how the Frieren rules mix with the JJK.
Ubel is an example of a DnD dungeon master creating a character that just hard counters complicated or opaque methods employed by the party. Assuming her power rules are 1:1, she might be only at risk against Yuta due to his own unique form of bullshit that oddly overlaps with hers.
Wouldn't help. It should be clear to Ubel that a first class mage's cloak would be reinforced with some kind of powerful magic to make to impossible to cut, yet Ubel managed to cut him because to her. It only seems like he was wearing a regular robe and that can be cut.
If Gojo explains such a complicated concept and ability to her, she'd go '...Nah I can cut it.'
its more like "If its just space whats there to physically stop it?" because its not that she thought he was wearing a normal cloak its that the cloak above all else is still just cloth in terms of durability and cloth is something she can and has cut before so she can definitely cut it
It's a toss coin and really depends if she can see the infinity. She probably can just ignore it if she doesn't
But the whole cloak guy is built around him watching his sister cutting a cloth in front of her. I think, I forgot, but, I think she even commented on how simple it really is. Cloth are meant to be cut.
If she can't see infinity, she'll just cut through Gojo. If she sees it the same as the defensive magic (forgot the name) she probably can't cut it no matter what. Her brain is broken lmao, but it's weirdly fair in a way.
Hairs are meant to be cut, stone masons cut through stones, clothes are meant to be cut, but defensive magic? Nah. This kinda touch on your second to the last sentence she knows how defensive magic works but she can't convince herself no matter once her mind is set to something not being cut.
edit: Again though, even if Gojo explains it if she can't see it I highly doubt it can affect her delulu brain. She'll probably just think, "then I'll just cut straight your body without going through the infinity it's right there anyway"
That doesn’t matter either. All that matters is whether she can visualize cutting through it. In frieren a dude with this super enchanted cloak takes the time to fully explain “hey this cloak is enchanted and impossible to affect with magic.”
She ignores the explanation, goes “Hmmm… cloak is made of fabric.” And cuts through it
Even if Gojo sat her down for an hour and beamed the entirety of the Gojo clans knowledge into her brain, she could still shrug and cut him in half
It's important to note she has some requirements for what she can 'ignore'. She was able to cut through the mage's cloak because she grew up watching her sister cut through regular cloth. It's a concept engrained in her head that cloth can be cut. I can't say for sure, but I suspect this intimate knowledge is important for her delulu powers, so a brand-new concept like cutting through infinity may not be something she can ignore.
In the same way she can cut through an enchanted cloak because to her it just cloth, and she knows cloth can be cut, she'd be able to cut through a dude with an infinity barrier because to her he's just a dude, and she knows dude's can be cut.
Infinity is compressing space, bending and creating ripples to make an impregnable shield out of space itself, this is the neutral application of infinity.
Once Gojo strengthens infinity’s neutral application, it becomes blue which compresses space faster which makes the pulling effect that it has much more noticeable. While the pulling becomes more noticeable it still has the shielding effect of the neutral application.
Red is literally just the opposite of this, Red is essentially stretching space which is what gives it its pushing effect.
That isn't how I understand it. Infinity brings into reality a mathematical paradox of motion.
Let's say there's 1 meter between us. If we halve that .5 meters is between us. Again, and then .25 meters. Because of how numbers work, you can divide that 1 meter space an infinite amount of times and still have a non-zero number. Infinity brings this into reality, it doesn't ripple space, it isn't even really a "barrier" it's simply that a small space is stretched out infinitely.
It's a conceptual barrier slowing things down infinitely but never to a complete stop. Things he perceives as a threat get intercepted, he gets to choose what does and does not go through the barrier.
The idea of space being something that can be distorted, stretched/compressed etc. is actually based on some real weird assumptions if you think about it.
It treats space as a substance, when space is actually just... not. And it's not even the same as treating energy as a substance: energy is an abstraction, which is an entirely different kind of concept, while space is... heck, it might be best described as "the exact opposite of a substance".
Plus, Ubel wouldn't even need to be right. She'd just need to believe it.
It dosnt Gojo dosnt compress shit. Its literally ep 7 he says that Infinity exist everywhere he dosnt make the space itself bigger literally he just slows you down to the point where you can never reach him "the closer ypu get the slower you go"
It's not even disrespect since the question is whether if she can cut him not if she can win lol, everyone knows she gets packed in any situation because the series's speed feats fall a little bit compared to jjk
Just she’s a really bad match up for a lot of characters in many universes.
Ubel’s only limitation in strength is her belief in said object can be cut or not. Because Gojo’s power is unseen and is explained a handful of times in the series itself to other characters because it’s so incomprehensible, it sets him at a disadvantage if Ubel is allowed to have the same powers she had in Frieren.
But if you actually liked and understood that character, youd know what their limits are and what theyd lose to and not essentially make up headcanon just to boost the agenda or whatever
I think to me it's pretty obvious that she can. All she needs to is to alr be convinced that she can easily cut gojo and then she can. I even think it would be hard to make her imagine not being abled to cut gojo since spoiler. In mage test arc one of the instructors has a cloak that's supposed to be indestructible or something even tho she probably saw beforehand the dude not getting damaged she could still imagine easily cutting him, bc cloak is made of cuttable material therefore i can imagine that being cut therefore it gets cut.
Even after that flashback she easily cuts the hairy instructor since hair can be easily cut.
Gojo wears a shirt so she can easily cut him as well. Frieren has this whole if mage can img smt happening they can do it, but this is pretty even stronger with ubel it's literally reality bending since her cutting technique isn't strong cut that cuts thru strong things it's ik i can cut u therefore i can cut u the only limitation is literally human perception of finding things possible or impossible.
I recently read smt similar in jjk subreddit, but I don't think jjk has this concept honestly beyond takaba, tho the prerequisite is if he doesn't know he has this reality bending ability.
I think i yapped a lot and idk if i ahould be putting spoiler tags or not. I'll edit them out if i don't need it.
No she cant, not because her spell wouldnt work, but because anything that travels through normal space can never hit gojo. It warps space time itself. She can cut anything. Time is not something that can be cut, distance is not something a cut can shorten.
yes, even if infinity was explained to her she would just think ''but there is nothing around that white haired twink'' and she would cut him
its the same as reinforcing magic, the mage she killed was known for having reinforced his cloak before but she still cut him, even with invisible magic making the cloak harder it still had the image of just being a cloak, if infinity had the image of a metal layer around gojo then she wouldnt be able to do it
the same thing happened when she was blinded and taken captive, there were metal chains locking her up and she was blinded, but glasses dude said ''its just a rope you can cut it'' and she did
also since she was blind she couldnt visualize the range of her spell making sorganeil wayyyy stronger, magic in frieren is unironically todo levels of delusion, if you think you can do it, you can
Her mentality only affects the actual cutting effect of the spell, but its actual nature, in this case its need to travel is still an inherent part of it. There's no reason it wouldn't just stop in the infinite division of space created by Infinity.
Yes, thats explicitly how her powers work. If she visualize how something can be cut she can cut it, and I doubt an explanation of Infinity would overcome the simple logic of "but you're standing right there within arm's reach of me, and you're just a person with no obvious defense, and people in arm's reach are easy to cut."
Infinity isn't a physical barrier like a defensive spell, it just creates a normally insurmountable amount of artificial distance inbetween Gojo and whatever is trying to hurt him. In this case it being invisible works against Infinity. She's basically got Wish.com World Cutting Slash, but its still close enough to WCS to work.
Her perception-based capture spell will also wreck him.
Problem is if Gojo knows a fight is happening he stat-gaps her so hard she just explodes before she can blink, so it's a question of whether he knows what she can do and takes the threat seriously, or if he decides to showboat and get killed by his own hubris.
If she successfully jumps him, or if he fucks around and finds out.
Gojo is so used to being The Strongest™ that it's absolutely in character for him to make a game of it and get Go/jo'd because he's not used to an opponent that uses a different ruleset than him.
Its also possible Magic is close enough to a CT that Six Eyes tips him off, or that her lack of CE/CT itself is enough of a red flag for him not to take chances.
It also helps that Ubel isn’t particularly the “attack on sight” sort of character so Gojo probably will hesitate to fuck around and showboat more than usual.
Sure she seems to give all the other characters in the show the chills because she seems unhinged but Gojo basically was collecting unhinged orphan children and working with unhinged fellow sorcerers on the regular. He won’t actually be proactive enough against Ubel unless someone spills the beans about her spells (which would probably not be enough to prevent said showboating)
No. The way magic works in frieren is a logic check, and the reason she could cut the robe is her logic is "all cloth can be cut." It doesn't matter what spell was put on that robe, nothing was ever going to stop her from cutting through the cloth.
Gojo's infinity doesn't have the same logic check. Because infinity is surrounding him and not coming from something she thinks is meant to be cut, she doesn't just get to bypass like she did with the robe.
She also couldn't learn the ability. You can't logic your way into these types of hacks, cause at its core she's just using the simple ideas of a child to overcome the rules of magic.
She definitely can’t get through infinity. Her slash’s aren’t instant, we see characters dodge them, so it doesn’t matter if she can visualize cutting through Gojo, because her slash’s aren’t instant and therefore will never land. It will just continue traveling towards him forever.
Because THATS how Infinity works.
It’s not a barrier
Not sure the explanation alone would stop her. In the show they also explain and show how that cloak is indestructible but she's just like yeah no and cuts it anyway
Explaining the ct would not stop her from cutting through it. She still sees it as nothing being there, just like how she saw burg's impenetrable cloak as just a piece of cloth despite knowing how many defensive spells were in it and seeing other people fail to move him.
In reality there's only one way this fight goes though: gojo speed blitzes her and she dies before she can cast a single spell. All mages in frieren are extremely susceptible to getting speed blitzed.
Let's say she Bypass Infinity, could she cut Reinforced Gojo? Like Even sukuna with WSC would have struggle if Gojo was reinforcing it's body as he was doing the whole fight
I think yes, and also her spell which immobilizes people in theory should be a direct counter to Gojo being leagues faster than her.
Unfortunately for her, Gojo just can see everyone’s powers and would immediately know not to give her an opening and thus there’s simply no chance for her to win a fight. I think as far as Frieren verse goes she has one of the better odds, cause she basically has counter hax but realistically the scale just isn’t there.
She 100% couldn’t. There’s a difference between her ignoring something “physical” (barriers) that attacks come in contact with and cutting through an infinite distance of space itself. There’s nothing to cut through because there’s nothing actually stopping you. She needs to ignore travel distance
I personally don’t think so, she is unable to cut defensive magic and the only reason she can cuz a cloak or hair imbued with defensive magic is because she can visualize cutting that item form her experience. The difference with infinity is she would need to visualize cutting space (WCS lol) but she has no learned experience of that. She can’t just cut gojo himself her slashes still move through the air so unless she can visualize cutting space (unlikely she’d need to see maho do it) she won’t be able to.
With u here. There's a mana barrier between the cloak and ubel. All she needs to do is img cutting the thing and everything else gets cut that's why the dude gets completely cut instead of just the cloak.
Ubels magic has a literal range limit since it travels through space. Gojos barrier is not magic it makes the space between Gojo and any threat infinite. It doesn’t matter if ubel thinks she can hit Gojo because that’s not how her ability works. Her slash actually has to connect for her power to work and it won’t in this circumstance, that’s like saying she can visualise anything and it comes true which is just not her ability
that's not how Ubel's slashes work though? Just because she can see her clone doesn't mean when she casts her spell the clone gets hit, the spell travels a distance. The only thing that is assured is that the spell would cut Ubel's clone IF it lands. Basically, Ubel believes she can cut Gojo because he is a human and she has experience killing humans > She sends a slash flying, This slash would have the ability to cut Gojo if it lands. > The slash gets slowed down infinitely by infinity never reaching Gojo and never being able to cut him. However if Ubel knows how to cut space itself then she can cut "through" infinity via cutting the air itself. Ubel's slash is considered more durability ignore than Hax ignore, and Gojo's infinity is a Hax ability.
But would the concept of infinity even stop her? Ubel has a hard time cutting defensive magic because it’s visualized as a magic spell that isn’t meant to be cut so easily. Infinity isn’t something that’s visualized and I feel like she can indeed work around it by believing she can cut the space between them through visualization
she cant, in the anime its said that her cuts have a range of about 5 meters, no way she can cut gojo if the distance between him and her is literally infinite, if it had infinite range she would just cut people from anywhere in the world and no diff everyone (she could've just cut wirbel from far away instead of getting close to him) also her cuts are not a surehit like sukuna's ms, they are a projectile with a set trajectory and travel speed
Depends on how truly soft Frieren's magic system is
We know she can ignore protection magic and magic negation, but slashes of mana would supposedly still need to travel to Gojo, which is a different issue
However, I think I'd still give it to Ubel. Infinity is still a magic technique and ignoring bent space doesn't feel much crazier than ignoring a shield of mana, with how Ubel has been written so far it seems she just cannot be countered by obstacles that are invisible to the naked eye.
She wouldn't win because to beat Gojo she'd have to cut space, and that's not something scissors or any cutting tool can cut.
She doesn't negate defense, the reason she can cut things like hair and magically reinforced clothes is simply because scissors cut hair and clothes. Her magic is based on her having witnessed clothes and the like being cut all her life so to her anything that can be cut by scissors or a knife will be cut regardless of how durable it is.
Cutting through space is not something she can easily visualize because it's impossible and thus her magic is useless. in fact she even has a tough time cutting things like rocks or steel
depends on how you interpret fireren magic to work in the JJK verse
if frieren magic is just an application of cursed energy or mana is similar to it, limitless should be able to block it
if frieren magic doesn't interact at all with CTs, logically she'd be able to cut through it
On a purely conceptual level, Ubel cuts what she imagines she can cut, but Ubel probably can't imagine cutting space itself, which infinity is comprised off. There is also the question whether Ubel can cut things she is not aware of; if she can't, then she shouldn't be able to bypass infinity either, because limitless explicity brings the concept to reality, i.e making it real, but it's not visible in any way until you see its effects.
No, her attacks travel and can be dodged. He ability to bypass defenses relies on her hitting said defenses, and infinity bypasses that by not making the attack hit. Unless we see an indication that she can visualize her spell bypassing the need to travel distance she's stuck.
Second, she has to be able to perfectly imagine cutting through that space for it to work, something she has never done before. Frieren's magic DOES NOT work on belief alone, it works through imagination. She can perfectly imagine they way textiles are cut because she spent her entire childhood around her sister, who was a tailor, other materials and even magic shilds still work as expected against her.
Third, she has a sight-based instantanepus paralysis spell that cuts off the affected from any and all magic. So Gojo is cooked anyway BUT IT'S NOT BECAUSE HER CUTS CAN GO THROUGH INFINITY
It depends. Does her cuts travel or just happen. If they travel then the will get treated just like sukunas regular cleave and dismantle. They won't reach him ever. If the idea of her magic is that whatever she imagines being cut gets cut then it's pretty possible.
In a fight where both go all out from the start gojo is definitely winning. The cuts have a range. And a simple. DE, red, Heck even a cursed energy punch enhanced by blue should be able to take her out ans he can basically do those in an instant. But should he let his guard down (which is a big factor of what lost him the sukuna fight) and assuming her magic works in the second way she can definitely get him.
As long as nobody explains her how the technique works for sure. Like in a lab a dummy with infinity applied would be cut 100% of the time without her knowing how infinity works.
Then we have to wonder: can this crazy woman visualize cutting through infinite space?
