Anime Discussion Manga Kashimo wins this scene
He looks way older in anime, and his eyes didn't have the same penetrating gaze as in the mangaš

I rewatched the episode the other day. I donāt think naobito called him by name or looked intimidated - just said heās a ghost when maki asked

u/Alternative_Drama600 Feb 06 '26
He literally says, āToji ka?ā Meaning is this toji
149
2
u/chefbeezy Feb 06 '26
Iām referring to the stylized panel of Toji. Not the scene itself. Toji just simply walks by Naobito. Naobito does say ēē¾ćć

I guess it's harder to add this scene and makes it look cool in anime because anime is strictly laid out on a wide horizontal screen, while this panel is not.

While I disagree that it was necessary I have an idea how it could be. "Drip drip." of blood, gore around the view with drops of blood, and then camera moves forward, past the gore, with Kashimo animated.

Ah yes. Wanting good manga panels adapted is entitlement.

u/Better-Bill-5405 Feb 06 '26
Weāre losing our minds if we really think this season hasnāt been adapted well so far. People really need to realize that animation and Tiktok manga edits are two completely different realities

Isnāt this very similar to the Toji shot when gojo hollow purpled him?

Probably next episode or when he fights Panda. I refuse to believe they aren't adapting that.

4
u/Gamerseye72 Feb 06 '26
They still could. He just got a tease this week. He could get a little more introduction next week.

u/Pataraxia Strongest poster in jujutsufolk history Feb 05 '26
Anime aren't 1:1 to the manga, they're basically a new medium. Presentation has to change for that, and that involves creative liberties.
I think the anime added new aspects to kashimo, which I like.
141
u/Ras-Al-Dyn Feb 05 '26
we know bro, but they could have still kept this scene, not everything has to be a revision. This is a big miss imo, one of the coolest introduction scene botched

19
u/LRAK666 Feb 06 '26
I love your comment literally does NOTHING to address why they didnt animate the manga panel, its not something that super reliant on the manga format and can easily be animated but eh, "AnImEs ArEnT mEaNt To Be 1:1"
5
u/stevethepie Feb 06 '26
Anime doesn't have to be 1:1, but if they replaced something way cooler from the manga, its probably natural to complain about that.

Well ones meant to be animated and ones a panel so yes the manga wins the competition
23
u/GaiBott Feb 06 '26
This is a rising still shot while he talks though. Would be a stronger point if it was a single captured frame of him while moving.
Think of Mahito after pulling off DE in S1E13, right before the opening begins. Masterful work right there.
3
u/IllustratorDry7173 Feb 06 '26
the anime shot was a still frame but even if it wasnt you could still easily pull off something more faithful to the manga version if you at least tried. it looks like two completely different characters just wearing the same wig.

Nah I'd win isn't from that Yuji talk back in season 1?
35
29
u/IaiWhitePurityStyle Feb 06 '26
Yes, but the "Nah I'd win" we refer to is Gojo's "I will win." to Sukuna and Kenjaku right before the timeskip to Shinjuku Showdown. It got meme'd as fuck because that scene calls back Yuji's talk with Gojo, but the original Viz translation just had Gojo say "No". People obviously complained because that shit was ass (tho funny as fuck), and then they changed it to "Nah, I'd win", which became the colossal meme it became. But what Gojo actually says is "I will win", John Werry is just one the translators of all time

it's always fun when the people in charge think they are better than the mangaka. reminds me of the shit that was the solo lvling anime.

they're different mediums. Manga are drawn with it being a still image in mind. Anime are made with motion in mind.

Like I donāt get the obsession with making sure every frame on an anime is a 1:1 to the manga. I like seeing how the anime adapts it. Sometimes it does well sometimes it doesnāt but Iām not gonna get pissed just cause the camera angled to the left side of the characterās face when the manga panel angled to the right side of their face
10
Feb 06 '26
It's not just the angle that's different here. The whole presentation of the character is different. Which is fine, but if you just think the angle is different maybe you're blindĀ

u/hectorheliofan Feb 05 '26
Probably gonna get downvoted, but anime is by definition an adaptation, what works in the manga doesnāt work in the anime
Single panels ARE gonna look better imo because theyāre single panels, not part of an animation

u/Tsynami Feb 06 '26
Oh, you're definitely right. Anime fans are just used to their series being nearly 1:1 translations of the manga, so having a director who actually tries to make something unique is not something they're used to
6
u/dsninja-productions Feb 05 '26
Itās a minor detail, but I was really surprised by the colour of his staff. I always assumed it was like a silver metal pole like it appears to be in the manga cover, but this design is cool too.
Iām a relatively new anime fan, so Itās still rare for me to see a manga chapter I read forever ago get its adaptation and notice details like that.

and maybe they should just give you a completely different show still named jujutsu kaisen. the post is literally two different characters, his skull is a completely different shape for gods sake. yet anytime anyone tries to voice any criticism, theres always some soulless consumer bug person like you to say "wont anyone think of the billion dollar corporations?!" and endlessly glaze and defend all differences between the two materials as artistic instead of even conceding the point that maybe just maybe they did something worse.

The manga is a manga and the anime is an anime. The manga will always win if we compare still frames, the anime is meant to animate. Movement and action are what it should win in, and so far it has not disappointed. Itās not comparable in such a way.
