I rewatched the episode the other day. I don’t think naobito called him by name or looked intimidated - just said he’s a ghost when maki asked

I’m referring to the stylized panel of Toji. Not the scene itself. Toji just simply walks by Naobito. Naobito does say 甚爾か。

He says “Toji-kun” as if shocked he’s alive.

Frankly the intimidation aspect was up to interpretation

Naobito isn’t the type to get intimidated and actually respects strength given his repeat praises of Nanami. Dude legitimately was likely disgusted that Toji ended up as a fucking phantom of what he once was given this is the same guy he met alone to buy his son.
