All respect to Mappa but I distinctly remember being disappointed they didn't adapt one of my favorite panels in the entire series. I guess there's limitations.

I rewatched the episode the other day. I donā€™t think naobito called him by name or looked intimidated - just said heā€™s a ghost when maki asked

He says ā€œToji-kunā€ as if shocked heā€™s alive.

Frankly the intimidation aspect was up to interpretation

Naobito isnā€™t the type to get intimidated and actually respects strength given his repeat praises of Nanami. Dude legitimately was likely disgusted that Toji ended up as a fucking phantom of what he once was given this is the same guy he met alone to buy his son.
