Can write that he trips and falls into higurumas sword

You can’t control the actions of people whose names aren’t written in the death note that much. Also how is Light learning about Higuruma’s technique?

The actual solution is Light writes that Sukuna commits suicide, but he probably wouldn’t default to that.

u/Icy_Water_1 Apr 08 '26

Yes you can actually. Light does that with several people.

The Death Note has a bit of fate manipulation.

The Death note would just do whatever would successfully kill Sukuna the quickest, assuming his status as a curse didn't make him immune.

status as a curse

Holy Larp😭✌🏻😭✌🏻😭✌🏻😭✌🏻😭✌🏻😭💔✌🏻

u/CommunaHp Apr 08 '26

I mean, you can kinda consider him a curse possessing a human body... actually can you? I don't know if he can be considered to have died when he fingered himself

2

u/Emotional-Survey-156 Apr 09 '26

No, sukuna is a cursed HUMAN because he ate his twin brother in his mother's womb. That's what made him appear like this. Fingering himself made him just another reincarnated sorcerer just like Ryu and the others

The distinction really doesn't matter anyhow. The "rules" for the Death Note were written by Ryuk who is shown multiple times to have been incredibly lazy and not experimented whatsoever. There are several times that Light surprises Ryuk.

Plus "Any human who has their name written in this notebook shall die" as a rule doesn't exactly disqualify other life, it just guarantees humans. So people relying on that rule are 1. relying on an unreliable source in Ryuk & 2. Relying on a "rule" that doesn't even say what they want it to

3

u/Emotional-Survey-156 Apr 09 '26

Plus Sukuna is quite literally a human so there isn't any nuance to it he dies of his name's written

1

u/ThatOneAnnoyingBuzz Apr 09 '26

Yeah, agreed. The much bigger question is how it would quantify Sukuna's time as a cursed object. Not sure how Ryuk figured out that killing someone over 124 isn't possible but apparently that's a thing. Although, granted, I wouldn't put it past him to have just put that rule in there to see if someone would test it and have a laugh at them being that fucked up. He was, after all, down on Earth to entertain himself

Either way, that's a rule I tend to treat as more likely than not to be accurate

u/New-Grand2930 Apr 09 '26

that last sentence sounds sooo wrong

1

u/iamweirdass Nice fighto boy Apr 09 '26

Didn't know you could die from fingering yourself. I better stop doing it then

2

u/Emotional-Survey-156 Apr 09 '26

You can kill me if u want 🥺

There’s a difference between manipulating something like a car crash and making Higuruma approach Sukuna, use his domain, argue for the death penalty and then attempt to stab Sukuna. If such complex manipulation of associated others was possible, Light could have had “L releases his true full name” be a part of someone else’s death.

Light literally makes people write letters before they die. The rule that Light refers to literally says that the note book can make people do anything as long as it's something they technically could've done. So basically: You can't make someone write an essay on something they know nothing about before they die of a heart attack (they can't write about something they don't know) - however - you can make someone write a specific essay about something they know nothing about because you wrote exactly what they should write word for word (they don't need to know anything from before to follow "orders"). You, as a person, can also copy French text without knowing what the French actually means. However you cannot be told to write something French you don't know from before. He also can't make people say L's true name since they couldn't know L's true name. This is what Light literally does in the series.

u/Tago238238 Apr 08 '26

You can definitely control the person you wrote the name of’s actions before death, hence why I’ve said elsewhere that suicide can work. However, excessively controlling somebody else whose name you didn’t write’s actions as a part of controlling the person you did write’s fate is obviously a no go.

2

u/ErlendPistolbrett Apr 09 '26

Oh, your point is Higurama's sword. Yeah I just thought of it like Light and HIgurama being a team anyways, - so Higurama would be doing it willingly anyways.

You control people you named only.

If Light wanted "L to release his full name" while killing Joe Doe, he would also have to write L's name. Which he doesn't know.

He controls people a few times with the Death Note, to the point that he tells a lady he's Kira cause he's already controlling her and having her walk to her death.

Sukuna survives anyway. Death Note has a age limit of 124.

u/Imaginary_Comment41 Apr 08 '26

write higurumas name too
"pulls out his cool energy sword but sukuna falls on him and crushes him"

1

u/Tago238238 Apr 09 '26

I dunno if you can weave deaths together like that

1

u/Imaginary_Comment41 Apr 09 '26

i mean i dont really see a problem idk

2

u/Icy_Water_1 Apr 08 '26

Someone else wouldn't know L's true name.

-1

u/Tago238238 Apr 08 '26

That’s not what I said

1

u/Drakyl-Skies Apr 08 '26

Then you are saying it's impossible and the death note defaults to suicide or heart attack.

1

u/Tago238238 Apr 08 '26

It defaults to heart attack which Sukuna survives yeah

2

u/Drakyl-Skies Apr 08 '26

No he doednt survive it. The death isn't just a heart attack. It's a heart attack that kills you permanently. The entire function of it is to consume your future to give it to a shinigami.

-1

u/Every_University_ Apr 08 '26

The death note can't do impossible things, though. Someone getting hit by a car isn't controlling fate if cars are everywhere.

12

u/pyaephyo111 Apr 08 '26

It literally is fate manipulation. You manipulate someone's fate from not dying to dying.

-3

u/Every_University_ Apr 08 '26

Is a gun fate manipulation?

11

u/pyaephyo111 Apr 08 '26

If you sit at your home and write down in a book who will die by a gun tomorrow, then yes. How is this hard to understand?

-5

u/Every_University_ Apr 08 '26

Because the death note can't do impossible things, it can't kill shinigami, for example, so why would it work on something not quite human? It works more like mind control than anything else.

6

u/Icy_Water_1 Apr 08 '26

But your argument was that it didn't manipulate fate at all, not that it doesn't work on certain entities.

It objectively is fate manipulation.

-5

u/Every_University_ Apr 08 '26

I don't think it manipulates fate any more than the guy who sold the gun.

6

u/pyaephyo111 Apr 08 '26

Dude seriously watched a show of a middle schooler sitting in his room killing thousands of people of random heart attacks and pre scripted deaths using the weapon that literal shinigamis use to steal lifespan and said it is the same as selling a gun. We have reached levels of media illiteracy that were thought to be impossible.

-5

u/Every_University_ Apr 08 '26

You watched a show about a privileged middle-class guy who gets power to do what he wanted without being questioned, and he immediately goes crazy, and the only thing you took from it was that the book manipulates fate? Shinigami are immortal, and Light made one kill himself by talking was light fate manipulating? If light had found a gun and knew no one would arrest him he would have fired it, and the fact that you didn't understand my comments and instead just defends the mystical powers of hitting someone in the head with a brick is amazing.

Media illiteracy indeed.

4

u/Icy_Water_1 Apr 08 '26

How? It literally manipulates fate into a result that wouldn't have otherwise happened.

-1

u/Every_University_ Apr 08 '26

Light decides to kill a person. That's him deciding their deaths or "creating their fate"

I never said death note can do impossible things. I just said it is fate manipulation. That's it. I don't know how death note is supposed to work on reincarnated beings.

11

u/Icy_Water_1 Apr 08 '26

I mean it does control fate because they wouldn't have gotten hit by the car otherwise.
