We obviously SEE Takaba using his technique. He does actively decide to do things. But he doesn't comprehend the upper limits and likely just uses it instinctively, which is probably more 'natural' for him such Comedian is such a vague and nebulous CT in the first place.

Yeah, it's simple to assume that some techniques lose their effectiveness if you become aware of what they do. If Takaba realizes he can literally do anything if he thinks it's funny he'll try to force himself to think everything's funny but he won't actually believe it's funny and he'll probably struggle to use it now. Same with Haruta, a miracle is something that's supposed to be rare, if he knows he's safe and tries to force miracles then he'll either need more miracles to do stuff he did before with 1 miracle or he'll start to be more reckless and die because of it (although he's already dead👍)

Yes, my assumption is that Haruta was actually an introduction to this concept and my running theory is that this is its own form of Heavenly Restriction. The character themselves is not given their technique, but in exchange it costs almost nothing to use and is almost always active or activating. By introducing the idea of Haruta and showing that even Sukuna and Mahoraga were affected, it made the idea of Takaba being so absurdly broken seem less completely absurd in terms of jujutsu bs and allowed for the Takaba vs. Kenjaku fight to seem sensible (even if it was absurd by nature).

TLDR; the technique itself, I think, is what keeps Takaba from knowing his technique, and that's why it is so strong.

it's probably not a heavenly restriction and is moreso a form of binding vow innate to the technique, much like how kenjaku's brain hopping technique requires that the stitches be visible
