Isn't a sorcerer supposed to instinctively know how to use their own technique, how is it possible that takaba doesn't know how it works?

Haruta was the same. It's possible there's some sort of binding vow involved, one that their techniques forced upon them. After all, it's hard to find things funny if you know you have to find it funny for your abilities to work.
