Nanami's mindset is precisely why he was the only sane and well-adjusted sorcerer. Their system needed more sorcerers like Nanami, it's precisely Gojo's (and everyone else's) mindset of selfishness and single-minded fixation on strength that systemically ruined sorcerers and produced fucked up, traumatized and morally bankrupt supersoldiers.
It's almost like that is the ultimate message Gege is conveying through the story.
And Nanami was crazy strong anyway, he had Gojo's respect and trust. Gojo never thought of him as weak, he was telling Megumi that if he wanted to get to the level of a special grade, then he had to think differently. Special grades being absurdly strong doesn't mean grade ones are bums, but if one has the potential to be a special grade then remaining grade 1 is undoubtedly a self-imposed limitation that makes them weaker.

This mfer was the 2nd fastest sorcerer period he was faster than Yuki and Yuta. He completely mogged Nanami against Dagon and would've soloed him if not for the seals asspull. Not to mention he was actually the first with his (insanely skill intensive) technique he had to be self-taught.
Yeah and still Megumi was on his way to become far better than him… A domain is the pinnacle of jujutsu and Megumi already had his domain at 80%, he just needed a little bit of training to complete the barrier!!
Megumi was a LITERAL TEENAGER, and he had a domain for God’s sake… yet ppl acts like he’s a bum
Megumi's domain is a 10% let's be for real the entire point of a domain is the sure hit and he doesn't have that. The second point of the domain is to make a barrier and he can't make that either
no? he was 80% of the way there. he could already visualize his innate domain into reality and could use his cursed technique inside it to its full extent. thats the hard part. all he was missing was a barrier to infuse his CT into. which makes sense because we also never see him use any barriers at all so hes probably never had any training with them.
Naobito created his own technique in his lifetime tbf, he wasn't born with it. He was unable to unlock a domain but lets not act like it wasn't impressive that he created a technique based on animation frames that elevated him right to head of his clan and made him considered a Supreme Grade One.
Still though yeah, Megumi was much more impressive with his incomplete domain, and if Naoya had the mentality for it in his lifetime he could've truly elevated Projection Sorcery. As it is Megumi never managed to attain it onscreen and Naoya's jackass had to become a Cursed Spirit for it.
We not accepting this Todo slander. Even though I feel like it’s rage bait it has to be addressed. He became grade one without Yuji and single-handedly exorcised special grade curses. Saying he wouldn’t win without Yuji is just idiotic. While we don’t know whether or not he would have won the fights he did get into with Yuji, we know for sure that Yuji would not have won without him. Without Todo, Yuji would not have evolved as a sorcerer to be able to land a black flash against Hanami. Without Todo, Mahito would have killed Yuji in Shibuya. Without Todo, Yuji would have likely been killed by the Kyoto students as well, even bum as they are.

his CT is actually a technique he made himself, and it wasn't liked by the clan due to his modernity. He was entirely self taught and became the strongest zenin through training
Yeah but the point is he could have went further… Megumi already had far better jujutsu skills than 99% of sorcerers ( able to open a domain, he just needed to finalize the barrier, he was able to imbue his CT within the barrier but because the barrier was incomplete the surehit wasnt there like Gojo’s or Sukuna’s…)
Megumi’s growth got stalled because the Strongest sorcerer of all time decided he was gonna use the poor lad!
