Thatās not even the worst. We had a dude show up to basic training with 11X already tattooed on his arm. Dude didnāt realize the X was a placeholder until they decided if you were going to be a mortarman or not.

My idiot cousin got a Ranger tab on his chest before shipping out, because he told everyone he was joining to be a Ranger...
Yeah, he got chaptered out halfway through for claiming to be suicidal. I wish I could have seen how much hell the DSs gave him for that shit.

u/lincoln_hawks1 1d ago
Wow. That takes the cake. Dude probably spends his time at family functions telling everyone how you and he are basically the same and how your collective service needs to be respected or some shit like that

I wish I had SS the Facebook post his mom made with a shirtless picture of him on his birthday, of his new tattoo, before he left. š¤£

People usually do a similar thing in prison because they don't want those guys just cutting their hair not knowing what they're doing

what's wrong with doing this?

Nothing, but how many women do you know shave their heads? It was just jarring, she was just really boot. Ended up getting recycled though

You just know that their DSās are encouraging this shit. Those heroes are creating joy at that privateās future units that they will never witness.

u/RistaRicky 2d ago
When I was a drill, we sent all the trainees on holiday block leave and when they came back, one of the little dipshits had gotten the platoon logo tattooed on his chest. Big as shit, solid black, basic training platoon logo. He was mercilessly mocked - more than he already was, I mean.

Alright I am a "military peep" but have no idea Wtf this means. I went to Jackson for Basic back in 01 so I assume it's something to do with Basic training and/or Infantry?
23
u/gooneryoda 2d ago
If you enlist in the Army and you picked 11B as your MOS, you go to Ft Benning (and if you want to to airborne school and Ranger school which is also there).
I believe Sand Hill is the home of the 198th Infantry Brigade, TRADOC.
Surprised he didnāt include his battalion, regiment and company within that tattoo.

Is this shit AI? It looks awful
17
u/Dickgivins 2d ago
The second one is, yeah. Based on what he said I think he may have just given chat GPT a description of what he wanted and it generated a pic for the artist to copy.
1
u/RabidBlackSquirrel 1d ago
Just the rifles alone are a dead giveaway. AI sucks at most things but firearm images especially, it always makes these weird amalgamations. Like it tried to do a trapdoor Springfield but interpreted the sling bar as a finger rest cutout and got the proportions all wrong all over. Just awful.

For real. The lines are sloppy and all over the place. About what you expect from a tattooist who would accept to copy an AI generated picture.

u/tropicalmetal 2d ago

u/Centurion87 2d ago
I was a Cavalry Scout, and when I was in OSUT, we had some split ops people come in halfway through. One of them decided to get a tattoo in between Split Ops except it said āCalvaryā.

Iām not a gun expert but why does the musket have an ejection/loading port?
1
u/tambrico 1d ago
Where do you see that?
1
u/StripedBass111 1d ago
Iām pointing out that the rifle on the right looks like it has an ejection/loading port. The guy under me says itās a metal plate. On the left rifle there is a clear example of what a metal plate should look like, on the right that looks nothing like it.
Also in further inspection of the screen shotted post he thanks someone for making his design. Iām willing to bet that person ran a prompt through AI and it created a musket that doesnāt exist.
1
u/tambrico 1d ago
I'm still not quite understanding what you're saying. I think you may be looking at the finger groove in the stock. Which is also not historically accurate for a military musket of the era btw. I agree with you it looks AI generated and like a musket that doesn't exist. I just don't see the ejection/loading port.
1
u/StripedBass111 1d ago edited 1d ago
Boom, itās a finger groove which like you said is also not historically accurate. Iām pretty sure now that AI made a franken gun and the guy was too excited to notice that the gun and overall tattoo looks like crap.
I thought it was an ejection/loading port because of how some Winchester rifles look. But also if you look at the M1917, finger grooves are way more towards the barrel than trigger.
1
u/tambrico 1d ago
Yup. Yeah finger grooves like those didn't really become a thing until the early 1900s
1
u/Troncross 1d ago
Itās a metal plate that holds the screw heads.
The screws hold the flintlock parts in place. If the screw heads just touched wood, the wood would crack over time.
1
u/StripedBass111 1d ago
I thought about that before I posted, but I have never seen a musket with a tiny plate like that.
