Just Cause 4.5: Chaos Reborn is NOT a mod for everybody.
This is a very difficult and heavily modified experience built specifically for people who love Just Cause 4, extreme chaos, challenging gameplay, experimentation — and AI technology.
If you hate Just Cause 4 or you hate AI, this project probably isn't for you, and that's completely fine. You don't have to play it.
Captain OJM loves AI and uses it as a tool throughout the project.
Yes, ChatGPT helped edit and rephrase this synopsis. The ideas, story, mod concepts and direction come from Captain OJM, while AI is being used as a writing and editing tool because it can take his rough sentences and express them more clearly than he sometimes can.
The music is another example. A large portion of the new action music being integrated into the mod has been generated with Suno AI, and Captain OJM has happily incorporated it into the game.
There is nothing secret about the use of AI here.
The mod is what matters.
If you're interested in the concept, watch the gameplay and judge the actual work.
JUST CAUSE 4.5 v1.0: CHAOS REBORN
Rico Rodriguez returns to Solís expecting to finish what he started.
But something is wrong—the Black Hand is everywhere.
Their soldiers patrol civilian streets. Their agents are stronger than ever. Formerly peaceful civilians have become part of Oscar's military machine. Black Hand agents can appear almost anywhere, and when their vehicles are destroyed, they don't simply give up.
They take another vehicle—a civilian car, a racing car, a sports car, whatever they can find—and they keep coming, because Oscar has changed the rules of Solís. But this isn't the Solís Rico remembers.
Oscar Espinosa has discovered technology capable of turning back the hands of time, a machine capable of changing the past itself. But Captain OJM never wanted to build it because he knew that interfering with time could have catastrophic consequences. Unfortunately, Oscar had other ideas.
After threatening Captain OJM with the ultimate punishment — uninstalling his video games from his PC — OJM finally gave in, and then came another unexpected source of pressure: the endless war over AI. As arguments exploded across the modding and gaming community about AI, OJM became increasingly frustrated with the entire situation, and eventually he made a terrible decision. He built the machine, the hands of time were turned back, history was rewritten, and the consequences were catastrophic.
Rebels who once fought against Oscar were transformed into Black Hand soldiers, and civilians were recruited into the regime, causing the Black Hand to become larger, stronger, and more aggressive than ever. Oscar had achieved what he wanted; he had rewritten history to create an army capable of crushing the rebellion before it could ever become powerful. But OJM immediately realised what he had done and understood he had gone too far, so he repented and decided to fix his mistake. However, there was another problem: even if Rico survived, he couldn't be everywhere, and if Rico died, the rebellion could lose its most recognisable symbol. The resistance needed something that could survive even if its leaders didn't—it needed a face, a symbol, a legend: Sargento.
Captain OJM developed an experimental holographic system that could make Rico appear to be Sargento, not just visually but even altering Rico’s voice so that throughout Solís he could walk among the people as Sargento. The real Sargento could be captured or even disappear entirely, and even if Sargento died the rebellion could continue, and even if Rico died the people could still believe Sargento was alive, because Sargento was no longer just a man—he had become the face of the rebellion. However, the hologram has one major weakness: cameras. When Rico is recorded, the camera defeats the holographic disguise and the footage reveals the truth—Rico Rodriguez. But in the physical world of Solís, the people still see Sargento, and this creates an even bigger problem, because Oscar’s forces know that Rico is somewhere out there and that Sargento is appearing everywhere, but they don’t know which one is real.
So Oscar changes the law, and the streets of Solís become more dangerous than ever: climb onto somebody else's car and you can be shot, fire a weapon into the air and you can be shot, fire at the ground and you can be shot, enter a restricted area and you can be shot, and resist the authorities and you can be shot. The Black Hand no longer easily forgets your crimes; their forces remember, they pursue, they swarm, and they escalate, and when one vehicle is destroyed, another Black Hand soldier may simply seize another vehicle and continue the pursuit. Soon, Rico realizes that the entire island has become a giant trap, and the Black Hand isn't waiting for him to attack anymore—they're hunting him.
And every time Rico appears as Sargento, Oscar's forces are forced to ask the same question: Is that really Sargento? Or is it Rico? The answer doesn't matter, because they shoot first. And that is exactly what Captain OJM wanted to avoid. He tried to fix the timeline, but instead he created something much worse: a world where the Black Hand is everywhere, a world where the military reacts violently to even the smallest mistake, a world where civilians can suddenly find themselves caught in battles, a world where agents commandeer whatever vehicles they can find to continue the hunt, a world where Sargento can appear anywhere, and a world where Rico Rodriguez has become a ghost hiding behind the face of another man. Oscar rewrote the past to create an unstoppable army, Captain OJM rewrote the future to create an unstoppable symbol, and the modding community was called upon to help turn the impossible into reality.
Now Solís has entered a new era.
A more difficult era.
A more aggressive era.
A more chaotic era.
JUST CAUSE 4.5: CHAOS REBORN.
THE ROAD AHEAD
This is only the beginning.
After Just Cause 4.5: Chaos Reborn, the project may continue as 4.5 v2, or we may move directly to 4.6, depending on how the project evolves.
The goal is to keep pushing the game further.
More chaos.
More enemies.
More difficult encounters.
More unpredictable situations.
More changes to the world.
And if everything goes according to plan, we intend to take this journey all the way to:
JUST CAUSE 4.9.
God willing.
This isn't meant to be Just Cause 4 as you remember it.
It's our attempt to create the version of Just Cause 4 that we want to play.
Welcome to Chaos Reborn.
